On the Rock - Lifestyle Restaurant in Karon Phuket
On the Rock is one of the oldest established restaurants in Phuket.
Built, you guessed it, on a rock overlooking Karon Beach, this restaurant has great views of the water. Seafood is the specialty, but well-made Italian and traditional Thai dishes are also on the menu. It's part of the Marina Cottage hotel. Book a couple days in advance to ensure you get a beach-side table.
I recommend this restaurant for a romantic evening event.
Location: in Marina Phuket resort

Beyond Resort Karon an absolutely stunning resort
Truly private, and truly intimate; Beyond Resort Karon is the only resort on Phuket's grandest beach, Karon Beach
Wow what can I say, such a perfect resort. The staff is so friendly, hotel cleanliness is spotless and the decor is very trendy and modern. Beds are huge and super comfortable and the bedrooms are modern, spacious and air con works a treat. The resort is the only hotel on the beach so you can sit by the pool and listen to the waves crashing on the beach. This was my 3rd time staying at Beyond Resort and I'll definitely will return again.
Karon Beach is in my opinion, the best beach we've been to in Phuket so far. It's very long as wide, so it's easy to find a nice quite spot. Soft sand and beautiful warm water. I loved every day spent here.
Beyond Resort belongs to Kata Group:

Silvesterchlausen - Celebrating New Year in the Canton of AppenzellAusserrhoden Switzerland
"Silvesterchlausen" is a unique winter festival with pagan roots, celebrated in a few towns in the Canton of Appenzell Ausserrhoden. "Silvesterchlausen" takes place on New Years Eve (31 December) as well as on the Old New Year on January 13 (Gregorian Calendar).
All masques are traditionally men. The "beautiful Clausen" wear richly decorated women's dresses, the "ugly" ones shaggy twig coats and demon masques, and the "ugly-beautiful" or forest-nature spirits wear a mix of both. All of them carry bells: The "Schelli" wear large cow bells (the bells weigh up to 30 kg / 66 lbs: the "Schelli" carry them around all day, quit a demanding task), whereas the "Rolli" or "Rollwieber" (Rolli women) wear smaller "bullet-bells" on two leather straps in the front and back of their torso.
Usually, the "Silversterchläuse" appear in groups of six; two "Rolli" and four "Schelli". Procession participants are men only. Girls are allowed to participate in the boy's group.
I enjoyed this during my precious trip to Switzerland in December 2016.
