📣Long post…Kara’s mama, Samantha Sledge, has the best assessment of any parent I’ve seen in along time of her child showing cattle. I would like to share with you…. “Kara was a single entry for her class and brought home breed champion for that class. Grand drive and showmanship did not turn out in her favor but she stayed hooked and kept showing the whole time. I’m so proud of how she handles herself in the show ring. This is just her 2nd year but she looks so comfortable and confident. She and Millie have bonded so well and take care of each other when showing. Ya’ll, the Columbia County kids are no joke. You can see how hard each one of them works and they bring the competition! We’re so proud to be part of the livestock community here!”👏👏👏 Bragg Ranch is very proud to have Kara showing our cattle! Kara and Millie are a great team!!! The life lessons Kara is learning in and out of the show ring are truly the Crown Jewels 💎 of showing cattle. Remington’s enjoying playing around with Taylor Orrell, SAU student, following him. They know each other well. Taylor hauled Remington to many livestock shows until he turned 2 years old (it’s a rule no cattle over 2 years old). Then, she brought him back to the farm. Remington’s a big boy!

First steps in showing cattle is learning herd health. ✨Kara Beth Sledge, Columbia County 4H, is learning hands on the importance of deworming, vaccinations, detecting scurs vs horns, record keeping, and most importantly keeping safe! 📢Shout Out to Kela Jermany (my right 💪) for demonstrating the nuts and bolts on working cattle 🐮 to Kara!!! Awesome day to work cattle🙌

Never a dull moment owning cattle. Headed out to feed up and RIO’S stuck in the creep feeder. Thank goodness for the Hack Saw! Took about 10 minutes to cut the metal bar. He was a happy lil bull to be free. Removed the metal bar it will make our life much easier.

Kara has been willing to take the first step of awkwardness and uncomfortableness with the help of her mentor Taylor. Like any journey, it begins with the desire to learn something new….

Invaluable Life lessons are learned showing Cattle in and out of the show ring. Kara Sledge and Millie 1022H have embarked on an amazing journey. Second time in the show ring and so many life lessons have been learned. We are very proud of the progress Kara and Millie have demonstrated in this very short time!
