Toddler Distraction Technique
The best way to avoid a toddler meltdown is to avoid situations that are likely to trigger them but once your little one is already triggered, then a distraction is your next best option - and that can be with just about anything. A hair scrunchie, sunglasses, zipper - really anything that isn't sharp or dangerous. The more novel the item, the better. Remember, almost everything is new to your child so the most ordinary thing you have on hand, can be a treasure trove of stimulation for him/her. The best part is, their attention span allows them to forget what they were thinking about moments ago, as long as it's out of sight.

Toddler Entertainment (No toys needed)
Before the age of three, my toddler took more of an interest in things that weren't toys, such as the vacuum, which he seemed to spend more time playing with than any of his toys.

Do down comforters hamper sleep?
A possible cause of night terrors? For 3 nights in a row, my 4 year old started having night terrors, and the only thing I altered was the comforter. When I took the down comforter off on the 4th night and replaced it with a cotton sheet, the night terrors stopped. Coincidence? Probably not. He’s gone back to sleeping through the night and hasn’t experienced any night terrors since.
In my own personal experience, using a down comforter markedly hampered my deep sleep. The length of time I spent in deep sleep each night was halved according to the data provided by my Oura Ring (which is like a finger “Fitbit”) and my body temperature was higher than it had ever been while using the down comforter, but once I removed the comforter and replaced it with a lighter blanket, my body temperature and deep sleep went back to normal.
For more information on night terrors:
https://kidshealth.org/en/parents/terrors.html
Night terrors usually happen about 2 or 3 hours after a child falls asleep, when sleep moves from the deepest stage of non-REM sleep to lighter REM sleep. Usually this transition is a smooth one. But sometimes, a child becomes upset and frightened — and that fear reaction is a night terror. A night terror is not technically a dream, but more like a sudden reaction of fear that happens during the transition from one sleep stage to another.

Has this happened to you?
Have any of you experienced this from magnesium oil, or clorox wipes, or a combination of the two - or something else entirely? I'm very curious to know if anyone else has had this happen to their hand. It's the most peculiar thing I've experienced with my skin, so any insight would be greatly appreciated!

What it means to be Leftist
This is why I'm anti-China. It's why we should ALL be anti-China really. You don't have to think that hard about it. There's Right, and there's Wrong. Do I need to explain why organ harvesting is wrong? Please help to spread awareness about it, so that more people can stand up against it. Thank you!

Not Everyone Should Vote
I saw a video titled "Why Socrates hated democracy" and thought to myself, "What bad thing could anyone possibly say about democracy?" Well, now I get it, and I guess, in a sense, I'm not fully a fan either. Still mostly a fan though!

A radical idea?
Can we make the pursuit of happiness a more level playing field? I whole-heartedly believe in rewarding innovators and incentivizing good ideas, but it cannot seriously be argued that the billionaires of the world have "earned" every penny to their name through the amount of sheer hard work they put in - the actual amount of effort and hours that they put in is not more than a person who works three minimum-wage jobs. The level of payoff is not justified. CEOs do not work harder than teachers, nurses, or police officers, so the astronomical difference in income does not reflect the level of energy/time invested. Plus many people nowadays make money doing nothing but watching their money make money - producing nothing and contributing nothing worthwhile to society, but still somehow reaping a lion's share of the benefits from the hardworking segment of society. Pure laissez-faire capitalism fails us in this manner. The machine of capitalism can work for us, or against us - it's simply a tool, like a hammer, that can prove to be hugely helpful (if aimed correctly), or hugely harmful, if we miss the mark.
