Dog's Incredible Survival Story Earns Ultimate Holiday Gift

Staffie-mix, Caitlyn, captured the hearts of millions worldwide last July when she was rescued by Charleston Animal Society (CAS) with devastating injuries after her muzzle was cruelly taped shut. Her amazing resilience and inspiring journey from victim to ambassador against animal cruelty led BarkPost to give her the ultimate holiday gift: her best day ever. She was just 15 months old when they found her on a doorstep, with her mouth painfully taped shut with electrical tape so tightly, she needed surgery. But after the initial procedure, society officials said that she didn’t need any additional procedures. Now fully healed, the Staffie was awarded an honorary reward by the Mayor of North Charleston, R. Keith Sumney - a bone to the city! After the ceremony, Kay Hyman, the Director of Community Engagement at the CAS took sweet Caitlyn to her present, a huge box filled with Caitlin’s favorite toy - tennis balls! The look on the pup’s face says everything. This is definitely the best day in her life! Then, the lucky pooch got to spend a day as an honorary firehouse dog, with firefighter Josh Allen of the Charleston Fire Department. Josh spent countless hours with caitlyn while she was at the animal hospital, recovering from her wounds. Then pup even has a permanent reservation at the local Starbucks, where she gets her Puppuccino . Caitlyn recognizes her favorite treat right then and there, wagging her tail and licking her lips in anticipation. What a day to be alive!
