During a fortunate opportunity as part of a research team studying population ecology of Weddell seals in the Antarctic, a coworker and myself were able to record this video of one of the seal pups, recently weaned by its mother and on its own to learn how to survive. A pup must first get in the water to be successful as a seal!

If there's one thing we've learned from the decades of cinematic fight scenes, it's that the more powerful and skilled opponent doesn't move until he or she has to. Witness the effect in this video featuring a rambunctious Staffordshire Bull Terrier and a statuesque kitty. Calm like Clint Eastwood in a western road, centered like an outnumbered Bruce Lee, the cat merely watches the dog circle and prance around, biding time before the inevitable swat. But the cat soon comes alive with a quick and rapid flurry of paws, and the dog is off yelping and running away. Let that be a lesson for anyone who might find themselves outmatched: Be like the cat.

We've seen babies stop crying and start rocking out to good music. Golden the dog proves that man's best bud can appreciate a nice tune as well. He looks so mad whenever the music stops.
