A video of the annual Tree Lighting Ceremony in downtown Overland Park, Kansas. Now they are calling it the Mayor's Holiday Festival. We arrived a bit too late to the see mayor flip the switch to the Christmas tree. They now have the Christmas tree in Thompson Park, instead of at the Clock Tower. As you can see, the new tree is GIANT in size - about 4 to 5 stories tall! One has to wonder how much they paid for this fake tree. But you have to admit, it is impressive. We were able to enjoy some apple cider and cookies, but unfortunately all the hot cocoa was already gone. They had kids crafts, pony rides, train rides and a snow globe bouncy house for the kids. There was a big line in Thompson Park for the kids to meet Santa Claus. The group "Twice On Sunday" was performing on the Paper Airplane stage. Kids filled the playground area, which was dark with hardly any lighting, since kids usually don't play there after dark. Over at Strang Hall, they had a five person symphony "Happy Wanderers" playing Christmas music throughout the night. and a few crafts booths at the Maker's Market there in Strang Hall's parking lot. It turned out to be a very nice evening for the event, temperatures in the low 50°s. The event started at 5:00 PM and ran to 8:00 PM. We toured thru Overland Park Historical Society in their newly acquired building at corner of 80th and Sante Fe. Over by the Clock Tower they had hay rides going on through the night, while serving snacks and hot cocoa in the small park there. Christmas Carolers walked around while singing all night, and a roaming Grinch was on hand as well. Merry Christmas everyone! I had to go feed Zeus the other evening. It has been a while since I made a video of Zeus, so this provided that opportunity. The "Prima Donna" that Zeus is, he got all bent out of shape because I didn't feed him the moment I walked into the front door. To display his impatience, he jumped up onto the kitchen countertop to let his "need for food" be heard! It's quite amazing that with his added weight, he can STILL jump up that high and get up onto the kitchen countertop! Very impressive! A simulation fly around and fly by of the Alcatraz Island, which use to be a Federal Penitentiary off the coast of San Francisco. In this video, I give you an up close look at the layout of the island. I included clips that have labels that indicate certain areas of the island, and also labels on the mainland as well. The island was made famous when 3 prisoners, Frank Morris, John Anglin, and Clarence Anglin, escaped from the prison, which was also made into a movie in 1979, starring Clint Eastwood at Frank Morris. I came across this pretty little tiny cat in my brothers next door neighbors yard. I went over to pet him only to find out he just has 3 legs. He doesn't have any name on his collar, so for now I'll just call him Trident. He was a little skittish of me at first, but soon warmed up to me a little bit, especially when I broke out a can of food for him. Video clips that were recorded on the backyard trail camera between October 13th and October 20th of 2023. Squirrels, Rabbits, Cats, Raccoons, Foxes, Possums and plenty of different birds as well. One clip shows one of the raccoons tipping over the bird bath which I have to fix later on. At one point a possum is at the water hold and all of a sudden a raccoon sneaks up on him. We went to a biker bar called The Bar in Kansas City, Kansas to watch Beyond Vengeance play a gig there on the outdoor back deck. These guys put on one hell of a show! This is their rendition of "Radar Love" by Golden Earring. I am very surprised on how well the iPhone microphone picks up the sound. I thought the audio would be overblown, since this band plays extremely loud, but somehow the iPhone microphone algorithms accommodate the loudness. Enjoy! The Duck Song Duck disappointed that The Man doesn't have any grapes at his stand once again, decides to show The Man up in high fashion as he jumps in his race car and jumps across the canyon. Once he's finished with his death-defying feat, he goes back to The Man and rubs it in his face, "How do you like them apples!?" Again, we don't know what exactly the duck was trying to prove here. It just doesn't make any sense from out perspective. But hey, we're talking about a duck here, a duck that has a looney craving for grapes! The Duck Song duck is on a mission to get his grapes. He realizes that The Man at the local lemonade stand will never stock any grapes along side his ice cold refreshments, so The Duck has decides to take an adventure to where no duck has ever gone before: Outer Space, to see if he can find the legend of Planet Of The Grapes. He commandeers a newly built retro rocket space ship and blasts off into deep outer space in search of Planet Of The Grapes. Will he make it there? Will he die in space? Will he encounter any evil aliens on his trip? Will he finally complete his mission and attain some juicy grapes? Will he ever make it back to Earth? Stay tuned and watch to find out! For this Blender project, I was able to design a retro rocket space ship with the help of YouTube Daniel Grove Photo and his Retro Rocketship tutorial, and also YouTuber Alaskan FX, for his tutorial on Epic Rocket Engine Fire Effect. Then after building my own ship, I decided to incorporate The Duck into the video ,since it has been a while since I was able to spit out a Duck Song spoof video. I have a few more I've been working on, but just haven't yet pieced and of the together completely. Action caught by my trail camera in the back yard, late August thru middle of September. Once again, the squirrels and raccoons eat up most of the camera time, as well as a bunch of pesky birds. But this time I did capture one sighting of a deer, a few glimpses of rabbits, a few possums, one glorious hawk, and a rare sighting of the groundhog that hangs around the area. The chipmunk also makes an appearance as well. One clip that has me puzzled is a small glowing ball that floats around in the air. Could it be a mini alien!? Who knows!? I took a week off from work so that I could repair the small areas of rust that were forming on both lower side skirts of my red 1995 Miata. I needed to get this done before the winter weather moves in. The right passenger's side skirt had a little bit more rust than the left side of the car, so it was a bit more difficult to repair. I used fiberglass putty to fill in where the rust was removed and then filled in smaller divots with body buddy filler. I also applied Rust-Oleum Rust Resolver to each of the areas to help prevent rust from coming back, before I finished it all off with numerous coats of flat black paint. For the small red area, I bought whatever looked like might be the closest match to the Miata red. Unfortunately it was not an exact match. But at least this tint of red protects the exposed area, and when I do find a better match, I can just apply over this red. I had only used this fiberglass filler a few times before, and it will harden much faster than regular body buddy filler, so you have to mix and be quick with your application. All in all I think I did a pretty good job. To see my imperfections you have to get down on the ground and take a close look. Up close with a camera really exaggerates small imperfections.
