Check Out The Japanese Café That Is All About The Barbie Theme
A café where you can eat surrounded by 250 Barbie Dolls would be a Barbie fan’s dream. As a matter of fact, such a place opened in February, 2015 in Yokohama City, Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan, called “Pink Holiday.”
Owned by one Ms. Hisano Ise, she tells us, “I wanted to help people understand the greatness of Barbie.” The café’s most popular dish, ordered by 80% of its customers, is its “Doll Cake,” in which a Barbie doll’s dress is made of cake. It’s a popular surprise for birthdays and other occasions.
There is also a box where you can act like you’re a Barbie doll, a makeup room, Barbie accessories, and everything Barbie. The owner has 200 dolls she keeps outside the café, which she switches out every season. One way to enjoy the café might be to check it out several times and discover a new doll each time.
Speaking of <a href="https://rumble.com/v34mbm-barbie-pet-toys-barbie-bike-ride-in-park-with-puppy-barbie-doll-video.html">Barbie</a>, the most famous doll ever made, did you know that her real name is Barbara Millicent Roberts? If you're a hardcore fan you probably already knew this, so here's another tricky question for you: do you know when is Barbie's birthday? You give up? It's March 9, 1959. Despite being "born" in the fifties, this cute doll is still ridiculously popular all around the globe, and according to the video, it has a massive cult in Japan.
Would you visit this café?

Rice Field Art Has Spread All Over Japan
As you all know, Japanese love eating rice as it is an essential staple in their diet. The amount of self-sufficiency of rice in Japan is very high, about 95%, and the scenery of rice fields is a national symbol of the Japanese countryside. Imagine beautiful golden rice plants shining under the sunny blue sky… Rice fields make the Japanese countryside more beautiful through all four seasons.
In a small corner of Inakadate Village, a little hamlet in Aomori Prefecture, there is a massive piece of art called “Rice Field Art,” where 12 species of rice are used to make 7 different color shades to create massive canvases out of <a href="https://rumble.com/v324ze-hunting-rats-in-the-rice-fields.html" target="_blank">rice fields</a>, which are 492 feet long and 328 feet wide.
Though it’s spreading throughout Japan now, Inakadate Village was the first to create such an art piece, and the level of detail put on display in their work is absolutely unbelievable. They first started making the “Rice Field Art” in 1993 as a community revitalization project, and since then it has spread all across the country. Now there are more than 100 rice field art locations all over Japan.
At Inakadate village they change the motifs every year. Throughout the years rice canvases of Marilyn Monroe, Hokusai’s “Thirty Six Views of Mount Fuji,” and Star Wars were attracting lots of tourists. Last year 340,000 people came to visit this village to see the beautiful <a href="https://rumble.com/v32dns-amazing-3d-art-compilation-by-nikola-culjic.html" target="_blank">artwork</a> rice field art and with this year’s depiction of the popular Taiga Drama, “Sanadamaru,” the village is seeing a lot of interest in their work.

The Bareheads’ Bearing Up
There was a peculiar gathering on September 15th, 2016, in Aomori Prefecture’s Tsuruta-machi, Japan. Looking across the venue of this gathering on that harvest moon in the middle of autumn, the most magnificent heads you ever did see were on display. They were the heads of the “Tsuruta Bareheads’ Bearing Up Club,” a group of bald and balding men who gather together every year. The activities they do each year are only possible for the follicly challenged. Their first meeting was in 1989, when the flyer for the group read, “Cue balls unite! Let’s brighten up the world!” The group participates in many activities other than their yearly meetings, such as driving safety campaigns and visits to nursing homes.
Castle in the Clouds
Ono City, Fukui, Japan, called the Hokuriku region’s little Kyoto, is overflowing with nature and tradition. It is a home to one of Japan’s best fresh water springs and Shichiken asa'ichi, an early morning farmer’s market that has been going on for 400 years. According to Ono City Hall’s Mr. Shimizu, Ono City’s Echizen Ono Castle has been garnering national attention of late, as “The Castle in the Clouds.” It earned this nickname due to the clouds that form about its base from sunrise until around 9 A.M. that make it appear as though it is floating in the sky. These clouds form when the day prior was humid, there is a big difference in temperature between noon the previous day and the morning, and the wind is not very strong. It is a rare event that only occurs 10 times a year, from fall through spring.

Man Lives With A 6 Foot Reptile For More Than Three Decades
In Kure City, Hiroshima, Japan, lives Mr. Nobumitsu Murabayashi, a 65 year old man who has been living with an alligator for 34 years.
The alligator’s name is Caiman, and it is a male spectacled <a href="https://rumble.com/v32rb6-jaguar-attacks-caiman-crocodile-close-up-footage-2.html" target="_blank">caiman</a>. He bought the baby alligator at a festival without thinking too much about it, and now it’s grown into a hefty 2.1 meters and 46 kilograms. Though Mr. Murabayashi keeps a massive tub of water in front of his house for Caiman, he roams freely, spending a lot of his time in the tatami room, or sometimes the bathroom. Because of this, he has to have the tatami renewed once a year, and the sliding paper doors are full of holes.
Despite that, Mr. Murabayashi cares for Caiman like his own son, and when he has time he takes him for walks in the city. Don’t worry, he has permission from the city government! He’s been featured in TV shows before, and many people know about him, but still, when people see the <a href="https://rumble.com/v3aea4-huge-alligator-chases-and-then-eats-smaller-alligator.html" target="_blank">huge alligator</a> walking down the street, even the locals stop and stare at him closely. With his children all grown up and independent, Mr. Murabayashi now showers Caiman with all of his attention. Caiman, who is expected to live another 20 to 30 years, has become the joy of Mr. Murabayashi’s life.

Ultra Fast Pounding Gives Mochi A Perfect Texture
In Nara, Japan, lies Nakatanidou, a mochi shop that is usually jam packed with tourists. They fill the shop in order to find delicious mochi snacks of course, but they also go to see the mochi making process as well.
The mochi pounders have perfected the technique and have <a href="https://rumble.com/v30pno-czech-synchronized-swimmers.html">synchronized</a> their breathing perfectly. The second half of the process is to strike the mochi two times a second. They strike it at a fast pace while it is still warm in order to create a soft and sticky texture. This method of mochi making was passed down to Nakatanidou’s president, Mitsuo Nakatani, from his home town of Kamikitayama-mura, in Nara Prefecture.
Nakatanidou has been doing this for 24 years, and started with a single goal to introduce Japan’s mochi pounding tradition to the world. He reveals that the secret to good mochi is pounding it fast while it is still hot. Seeing people’s smiles when they see our mochi pounding is what keeps me going, says Nakatanidou.
Of course, their hands may suffer sometimes, but their motto remains “work hard and you get faster with practice”.
Nara Park, which is famous for deer that roam freely throughout it, is nearby along with many other tourist spots. If you ever find yourself in Nara, don’t forget to stop at Nakatanidou to see their super fast mochi pounding technique?
<a href="https://rumble.com/v31izp-durian-mochi-challenge-wheresmychallenge-w-deathtolls-corner-and-wreckless-.html">Mochi</a> is Japanese rice cake made of mochigome, a short-grain japonica glutinous rice. The rice is pounded into paste and molded into the desired shape. In Japan it is traditionally made in a ceremony called mochitsuki. While also eaten year-round, mochi is a traditional food for the Japanese New Year and is commonly sold and eaten during that time. (source: Wikipedia)

World’s First Cafe To Cuddle And Adopt Hedgehogs In Japan
There are a variety of unique cafes in Japan with an animal theme, from cat cafes, to owl and reptile cafes, and a new addition to this trend is growing in popularity, drawing people from all over the world to its doors. “HARRY” is the first of its kind in Tokyo, where hedgehogs are served as main attraction and charm visitors with their cuteness. Located in the Roppongi entertainment district, the name is a play on the Japanese word for hedgehog.
<a href="https://rumble.com/v3xu5z-animal-cafe-with-otters-chinchillas-and-hedgehogs-in-tokyo.html" target="_blank">At this cafe, you can touch, feed, and even buy these adorably fluffy animals</a>. Each customer has their own reasons for visiting. Some come to relieve stress and some come to see what it is like to play with a hedgehog before they buy one. The spines freak some people out, but the staff is there to explain how to properly communicate with the animals so as not to frighten them. The way the hedgehogs move and roll up into little balls is so cute that anyone finding themselves stressed out in the big city is sure to smile when they see them.
The cafe is home to twenty to thirty friendly hedgehogs of different breeds that you can spend time with and even take home. All available <a href="https://rumble.com/v3sru3-hedgehog-goes-for-chips...head-first.html" target="_blank">hedgehog</a> breeds available for purchase are listed on a chalk-written blackboard. Old man dressed like a high-school girl
Have you heard about the “High school girl” in Tokyo everyone’s been talking about these past few years on twitter and other social networks? Hideaki Kobayashi, 54 years old, works at a printing company and on the weekends he goes out in a girl’s high school uniform. He says he has a lot of reasons for wearing the uniform, but his initial inspiration was a campaign for free ramen for anyone over 30 wearing a high school girl uniform that his friend told him about. At first he wondered what would happen if he wore the uniform, but unexpectedly, nothing came of it.
After he started wearing the uniform, he traveled to Tokyo, Osaka, and other cities. He even went to France and China in uniform, where he attracted lots of attention; many tweets were written about him and he started to become known as “that old man wearing a girl’s sailor uniform.”
Now, he is also popular among teens, and was invited as a guest to the “Cinderella Festival,” a high school girls only event. At the event, he was asked to promote a game developed by a group of high school girls. When he stood at the booth, many girls asked if they could take their pictures with him, a middle aged man wearing a sailor uniform.
As we sat observing him surrounded by all these young girls, we felt like it’s not just the uniform that drew people to him, but his character as well. We even heard that there is a rumor with the girls that if you meet him, you will find deep and true happiness.

World Famous?! Kanamara festival
On April 3rd, 2016, the world famous and one of a kind “Kanamara Festival” took place at Kanayama shrine in Kawasaki, Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan. This annual festival, which is held on the first Sunday of April every year, is famous for its Penis shaped portable shrines, which the locals carry throughout the city. People come to the festival to pray to find a partner or to get pregnant. Of late, it has also become known for running campaigns to raise awareness about safe sex practices as well as fundraisers for HIV research.
This rather unique way of praying is said to have begun in the Edo period, when prostitutes prayed for protection from sexually transmitted diseases. They would lie on straw mats with the belief that by doing so, their body would return to normal the way a sprout grows anew in the spring.

This Man Took Almost 20 Years To Build An Impressive Miniature Castle
In Mie Precture, Japan, stands a 1/23 sized Miniature Himeji Castle. As many castle fans know the real Himeji Castle is known as a World Heritage Site and National Treasure.
“The Lord of the Castle" as we call him, Hiroyasu Imura (78 years old), says he built a small <a href="https://rumble.com/v349rh-replica-ancient-weapon-has-hidden-secret.html" target="_blank">replica</a> of Himeji Castle when he was in 8th grade, and that memory stuck with him, leading him to make a bigger castle as an adult. He remembered his childhood dream when his wife gave him a book about Himeji Castle for his 47th birthday. Then, he started studying architecture at the library and visited the real Himeji Castle many times. In 1989, he finally started construction on his own Himeji Castle.
As he studied, he learned how to use concrete, bolts, nuts, fiber reinforced plastics(FRP), and other materials necessary to build a high quality replica. Throughout the process he worked hard to realize the smallest of details so as to make it as close to the real thing as possible. Not only are the proportions completely accurate, but even the number of stairs are exactly the same as the real castle. He even went above and beyond to replicate the trees and moss around the castle, adding samurai and animal dolls as well, in order to create a life-like atmosphere. Mrs. Imura took a pottery lesson to make the dolls.
He finished the castle in March, 2007. It cost him 18 million yen and took 19 years in all to build.
This <a href="https://rumble.com/v3qahr-aerial-view-ballynahinch-castle.html" target="_blank">castle</a>, built by the romanticism of one man, still amazes and enchants onlookers years after its creation.

An Island Off The Japanese Coast Is Home To 100 Cats
Off the coast of Ehime Prefecture, Japan, lies a small island called Aoshima. Aoshima is considered a part of Nagahama Town in Osuji City, and around 100 cats and 15 villagers live within its 4 kilometer borders.
Although some of the <a href="https://rumble.com/c/cats-kittens/" target="_blank">cats</a> are owned by the townspeople, most of them are wild. However, even the wild ones are quite used to humans, and many hop on people’s laps and doze off regularly.
According to Mr. Kamimoto, a fisherman from the island, the cats are split into separate groups, and each group is cared for by specific people. When questioned further, he explains that in the past, when the island’s fishing industry was prosperous, fishermen kept the cats so they would eat the rats that chewed holes through their fishing nets.
In the past few years the island has been featured on many television shows and websites, and many books have also been published, making it an instant sensation. As a result, people from all over Japan and the rest of the world have started to visit. Still, the island’s inhabitants are getting on in years, and they have no intention to make it into a tourist attraction. There are no restaurants or vending machines on the island, and only two small ships make the trip back and forth each day. When the seats on the ships are sold out, it becomes impossible to make it there, and it is not unusual to have trips canceled due to weather.
For a while there were issues with tourists feeding the cats too much and littering, but the islanders have dealt with these issues with various policies, such as limiting the feeding grounds.
The island has long been called “the cat island," or “cat’s <a href="https://rumble.com/v3o85d-sf-df-fdf.html" target="_blank">paradise</a>", and people who live there do so with that expectation. Still, the islanders have a way of life, and it is important to respect it and act according to their rules if you decide to visit.

This Japanese Temple Features 1000 Lucky Cat Dolls
Gotoku-ji Temple, Tokyo. This temple has become a sight-seeing spot for travelers from all over the world thanks to its collection of 1000 cat figures.
It is said that the first “Lucky Cat” (maneki-neko) came from Gotokuji. Though there are many stories of how the first “Lucky Cat” came to be, according to Asahi Shinbun, it was made to honor a white cat named Tama, who once lived in the temple. Upon his death, the original figure of a white cat beckoning with its paw was made, and since then its popularity has only grown.
Mr. Kazuo Hiroshima, a volunteer guide at the temple, further illuminates the story for us. “In 1633, Lord Naotaka Ii was resting under a tree near the temple when Tama appeared at the entrance and beckoned him inside. Not long after Naotaka went in, the weather suddenly turned bad, and the tree he was resting under was hit and destroyed by lightning. Naotaka was extremely grateful to both Tama and the temple and appointed Gotokuji the official temple of the Ii family. Thanks to the good fortune Tama brought, the temple grew and survives to this day.”
This temple is a big tourist attraction, and is easily accessible from the central part of <a href="https://rumble.com/v3xtpb-go-kart-in-tokyo.html">Tokyo</a>, which is why it's always flooded with cat-loving tourists all year round.

Patient Owner Walks His Tortoise On The Streets Of Tokyo
In Tsukishima, a town famous for monja, lives an adorable tortoise named Bon. This giant tortoise is an international star online. Mrs. Mitani bought a small tortoise at a supermarket and brought him home 20 years ago. It was in the middle of August, during the traditional "Bon" holiday, which became his namesake. Now, 20 years later, Bon is a meter long and weighs about 70kg. His favorite foods are bananas, apples, cabbage, and carrots.
In the interview, Bon’s owner, Hisao Mitani, said, "Bon is like my son." They sure looked like father and son, walking together side by side. At first they only had a tiny cage, but Bon grew out of it quickly. They had to find an alternative solution and asked a carpenter to make an adjusted home for Bon.
He is an African spurred <a href="https://rumble.com/v311ea-tyler-the-tortoise-has-the-munchies.html" target="_blank">tortoise</a> and comes from a warm habitat, so he doesn’t like the cold weather. That is why he uses handmade cloth when they go out. His clothes were made by his friend and it goes with a matching bag. Whenever he has the time, Hisao takes his <a href="https://rumble.com/v3otol-grandmother-walks-her-giant-tortoise.html" target="_blank">unusual pet outside for a stroll</a>, for which he believes helps to relieve his stress from being cooped up. They usually walk 5-600 meters and it takes them about an hour to hour and a half to complete this route.

Creative 3D Latte Artist Makes Coffee Tell Beautiful Stories
With the invention of the 3D printer and the 3D movie, next comes the 3D Latte Art.
3D latte art is an art style where the artist uses whipped cream to decorate coffee cups with all sorts of shapes and designs. They say it was invented and spread throughout the world by Barista Kazuki Yamamoto.
Yamamoto’s work encompasses a wide range of designs, from animals to popular characters. The Cat and Rabbit that he made during our interview with him were so adorable that we hesitated to drink them. We went to the cafe that Yamamoto manages, called “Reissue,” in Harajuku, to see what 3D Latte Art is like in person.
Kazuki came up with the idea of 3D <a href="https://rumble.com/v3etr4-latte-artist-world-latte-art-champion-60-second-docs.html" target="_blank">Latte Art</a> while he was working at a restaurant and started uploading his Latte Art works on SNS. His amazing work became famous in no time, especially the one with the cat hunting fish for which he used two cups. In the first cup we can see the cat stretching out with to reach the two fish swimming in the second cup. <a href="https://rumble.com/v3e3sd-barista-recreates-artwork-atop-coffee.html" target="_blank">His coffee work looks like a painting</a>.
After sharing his work on the internet, he started to gain fame and was invited to various events worldwide. That is when he met the owner of the cafe in Harajuku and settled down as a manager.
Yamamoto advises that the most important thing is to make a smooth cream which of course depends on the quality of milk. Of course, there is a certain balance that needs to be followed.
He believes that it is the idea that counts, and not what he does and what he uses. Others may copy the way he does it, but he believes that nobody can copy his ideas, and he is confident about that.
The 3D Latte Art is something that goes away in a flash, but leaves the consumer with happiness for a while.

Watch What This Cat Does The Minute She Sees Cucumber On The Floor
There's a belief that cats, for some bizarre reasons, are utterly terrified by cucumbers. So cat owners from all around the world are testing this, and weirdly enough, all <a href="https://rumble.com/v34oja-cat-gone-wild-by-cucumbers.html" target="_blank">cats</a> have the same reaction! Out kitty in this video is no exception to this "rule". Namely, this kitty is casually munching on her dinner, and as she seems to really enjoy her meal, she has absolutely no idea that owner prepares a terrifying prank! As soon as she's done eating, she turns around to take a rest, but wait! Not so fast, kitty! She sees the cucumber placed right there on the floor, and she absolutely looses her mind, jumping in the air with utter fear! Poor kitty. That seems really unfair.
Even though this might seem hilarious to many people out there, it still is a cause for concern. Cats really seem distressed and many take long time to recover from the shock. So we believe that it's not a good idea to scare kitties off in this way. New objects into the home can be a good source of mental stimulation for pets, but it shouldn’t be done with the goal of freaking them out! Moreover, the fact that the cucumbers are often placed near feeding stations, like in this video, and numerous others, confuses the cats because they usually associate those areas with safety and security. The cucumbers might even seem like snakes to them, and snakes can indeed be deadly predators. This is only one possible explanation, but whatever the true reason might be, we really wish owners were not this cruel with their pets.
How about you? Have you ever witnessed a situation like this one?

The Humanoid Robot Pepper Serves At A Cell Phone Shop In Tokyo, Japan
A cell phone shop staffed only by Pepper, the humanoid robot from SoftBank was opened for a limited time only in Tokyo, Japan in 2016. Pepper, dubbed the world’s first emotional robot, was first introduced to the public in 2014.
Perhaps you might worry about some distant future future in which <a href="https://rumble.com/v368kb-robot-vs.-jellyfish.html" target="_blank">robots</a> will take your job, but in Japan, that future is already happening — and it's being led by SoftBank's Pepper robot. The robot-staffed store is located on Tokyo's swank Omotesando luxury shopping strip and features five to six Pepper robots working to help customers looking to buy a mobile phone with SoftBank wireless service. Humans will only be on hand to help with the customer identity verification process.
Pepper is a humanoid robot SoftBank introduced in 2014, It can move around offices and homes entirely on its own and listen and respond to speech. It lets users operate its apps via a chest-mounted touchscreen. When the robot — which measures 4 feet tall, weighs about 61 pounds, and costs $2,000 — first launched, it sold out. But despite that early success, SoftBank is doing everything it can to popularize the robot as it makes its way into Japanese homes (and, probably, the rest of the world).
One thing is certain, robots represent a potential labor-saving solution not only for this particular company, but on the long run globally as well. We have to admit, the entire idea and concept seem awesome, and we had to play this video several times just to admire the entire robot-human interaction. Kudos for the idea! Now, on to you - how do you feel about this? Do you believe robots could entirely replace human labor in the years to come? Share your thoughts below in the comment section!
