#InstaFact on the story of the patent of the first fire hydrant...
Frederick Graff Sr., Chief Engineer of the Philadelphia Water Works is said to have invented the fire hydrant in, or around 1801, but this can't be verified because in 1836 a fire in the patent office of Washington D.C. destroyed many of their records, including the patent for the first fire hydrant.
