Onlookers Stand In Awe While Old-Fashioned Steam Train Crosses Bridge

"We hear the mountain rumble, that single piston roar, Out the mountain’s nostril, foul dragon’s breath does pour." He approaches the railroad crossing on his motorbike, just as the red warning light blinks on and off. The crossing gate arm swings down with finality, forcing traffic on both sides of the narrow country road to a standstill. A chugging rumble issues from the mountain tunnel portal. The mountain trembles and the earth quakes with low intensity. A strange, almost comical whistle seems out of time in a way he can’t put his finger on. Expecting a modern passenger train, he is astounded when an old-timey steam engine emerges, pulling quaint passenger cars. It’s like a scene from an old western, or even The Wild, Wild West. The place is Italy, where, apparently, infrastructure doesn’t go obsolete for a very long time. A perfect shock of thick white steam trail combs over the dorsal length of the passenger train; its 13 cars and trailing caboose awash in a hot cloud. The train chugs past at its 19th Century pace, but the exhibition is not yet complete: literally, a tube of dense steam pours out of the tunnel, completely obscuring the opposite lane. Even though the crossing gate lifts, signaling, “It’s safe! You can cross now,” drivers are tasked to trust their eyes over the crossing signal, and wait out the vaporous deluge. We can hear, or we think we hear the chuckling of the bikers to each other, and the imaginary dialogue between the north and southbound lanes: “You go first,” says the guy in the car of the southbound lane. “Ha! YOU go first!” says the guy on the motorcycle. Everyone exercises reason, and they patiently wait out the duration of the steam cloud. It’s as thick as toothpaste being squeezed out of a tube. Nobody’s going anywhere until the coast is clear. No telling how long that will be. Does the tunnel fill up with steam from one side to the other, or, how does that work, exactly? How long is this tunnel? Then we see one intrepid man on a bicycle, another low tech and archaic mode of transportation, pedal through, emerging from the still pouring wall of steam. He smiles at the motorcyclists, like a general leading his army to charge. They take his cue, rev up, and more than a little cautious, test the crossing. Can’t blame them for being careful. Maybe these adventurers will make a stop at the nearest pub or café in the next country town for vino, or an old-fashioned beer, to tell the locals about their latest experience. What must it be like, one of them wonders, to ride as a passenger through a tunnel in a steam train? How can you even breathe with so much steam? Is it pitch black the entire length of the tunnel? Are the cars lit? Are there lights in the tunnel? Do modern trains use this track? We notice a railroad bridge and a river gorge, and we hope that a passenger had the presence of mind to take pictures, or a video, and share them with us.

This Market In Bangkok Is Set Up Right On Active Train Tracks

The famous Mae Klong outdoor train market in Bangkok, Thailand is the perfect place to sell meat and produce if you don't want to pay any rent! Check out what happens when a train comes through! It is just another day at the Mae Klong market. The fresh produce is out, the stalls are all stacked to the brim and people are stopping by to pick up what they require for their kitchens. But then, in the distance a train horn can be heard. It sounds very far away, but the vendors are already busy at pushing their stalls inwards towards the walls. Like ants, each merchant gets out in between the stalls and stowes them away. When the produce is cleared we get to see just how close the train tracks are. Finally, they pull the fabric awnings inward towards the shops and the only thing left are a few shallow crates on the ground near the tracks. The camera pans out to show the train passing through the marketplace, ever so slowly. You think to yourself “No, the fruit! The veggies! The train will trample them and squash them all over, why aren’t they moving?” But as it happens, these merchants are already experienced with the art of stacking their items tall enough so as not to allow the train to damage them. This train passes through the market eight times every day. The vendors have to quickly gather up their produce and move it away to let the train pass and just like that, within seconds they are back in their original positions, trading as if nothing has happened!

Train Plows Through Heavy Snow And It Results In Stunning Footage

The winter season can be lovely for those of us who love the snow and can stand the cold. It is a "winter person's" dream for snow to build up throughout the night so they can wake up to white blankets covering the ground. Some of us that love the winter season decide to spend the day and just walk around the city park enjoying the sights, where as some us that like sports, can't wait to take their snowboard or skis and hit the slopes. And for some of us, it's a favorite book and cuddled up next to the fire place and enjoying the views from indoors. However, not all of us happen to adore the snow, nor the winter season as much as the "winter person". When winter comes around some of us decide to stay in and not even look outside, let alone actually leave their house. As for all of you, this might be the perfect video to see that you are not alone. Not only that people can not like the winter, but as we see in this videos that, that can also be the case with animals, such as this puppy in the video. Here we have a situation in which there is so much snow that has fallen on to the ground that a special Snow 'train' has to clear the tracks first in order to make it possible for the regular trains to ride on them. Even though this might seem like a normal and regular thing, in practice it looks very majestic. As the train swooshes through with high speeds and crushes through the snow banks, the snow explodes around the train leaving the air full of white power and snowy dust. It's quite the incredible sight. Take a look for your self!

Steam Train Racing Across Picturesque Autumn Surroundings3m09s

Steam Train Racing Across Picturesque Autumn Surroundings

The development of the steam locomotive in the early 19th century transformed the world, carrying people and goods at unprecedented speeds around the globe. Imagine you could create your ultimate fantasy train set. It would be a network of quaint branch lines passing through some remote, timeless and beautiful landscape. The little wayside stations would be immaculate and the regular train service would run on time every day. The engines would be steam-powered and polished. The station masters and porters would wear smart uniforms and greet passengers with a cheery wave . Most importantly, the line would serve real people going about their daily business, not serve as a museum piece for trainspotters. Could such an idyllic railway exist in 2017? Steam trains attract a different kind of trainspotter. There’s something about the toot of the chime whistle, the telltale plumes of smoke and the celebrated design that attracts more than the anorak brigade. This brilliant video shows a German steam train chugging alongside a beautiful autumn backdrop and we could watch this all day! In a valley of low, rugged hills, there stands the abandoned railway track. Around the corner there's an approaching cacophony of rattles and blasts of steam. Noises from another era can be heard around the valley. And then it appears, clattering and shuddering, the billowing puffs of nostalgia. It’s a mesmerising, unforgettable sight. Soon the air becomes thick and colored with dark grey smoke, streaked with coal dust and grease. One of the few surviving steam trains in Germany appears on the horizon and slowly makes its way to its final destination. Watching as the train passes through the picturesque surrounding our hearts are already on the Hogwarts Express train!
