Hilarious sea lions find the most ridiculous places to sleep

In the Galapagos Islands, sea lions are everywhere. They are one of the most successful predators here and they live in abundance around most of the islands. Wherever there are fish, you'll find sea lions. They populate the beaches, cover the rocks along the shore, and swim in great numbers in the shallow waters. They are capable swimmers and they spend a few hours each day hunting for fish, octopus, eels, and crabs. They spend the rest of the day lounging and sleeping. The people living on the islands, and even the tourists here have become very accustomed to them and they manage to live harmoniously with these funny animals. The sea lions generally ignore people and keep the same respectful distance. But the sea lions will claim their spot for sleeping in any location they like. They will climb onto almost any flat surface for a snooze. This includes boats in the harbor, picnic tables, sandy beaches, park benches, sidewalks, and even street gutters. This can be very amusing, especially for those who have not grown up here. Their comical way of sprawling out on their backs to sleep makes them resemble a very intoxicated person who has not managed to make their way home after a particularly wild party. Here in the Galapagos, people are encouraged to keep a respectful 2m (6 foot) distance between themselves and the sea lions. The residents are committed to not interfering with the animal life, or nature in any way. They strongly encourage guests on their islands to abide by these rules as well. The balance of nature is a delicate one and harassing, or even helping an animal can have disastrous consequences. What most people don't know is that the adorable baby sea lions on the beach will be abandoned if the mother smells humans on them. It is too easy to want to interact with these furry babies, especially when they persistently seek contact with people, but doing so means almost certain death for the infants. The mothers are usually not far away and will usually return to care for the young after a hunting trip. Even in the case of babies who are not being cared for, interfering is discouraged. The Galapagos Islands are an exciting destination from nay reasons, but sea lions are a very memorable part of the experience.

Funny rescued manatee tries to steal buddy's bottle20s

Funny rescued manatee tries to steal buddy's bottle

These manatees were found on the beach when they were just tiny babies, so they had to be rescued and now are cared for at a rehabilitation center, waiting to go back to the ocean once they are old enough. They get bottle-fed five times a day, with a special formula containing the fat and nutrients they need. Because there are too many animals, they can't all get fed at the same time, and the one seen drinking his formula in the video is the big bully that will try and still everyone else's bottles when he is not the one getting fed. Well, this time the tables have turned, and one of the manatees that always gets bullied decides to get back at him, and try to steal his bottle for a change! It wasn't a very successful attempt, but it was worth the try! Manatees are such funny animals! The West Indian Manatee (Trichechus manatus) is the largest species of Sirenians alive. The Sirenia order also includes the Amazonian Manatee (Trichechus inunguis) and the African Manatee (Trichechus senegalensis). The West Indian Manatee is currently divided into two subspecies, the Florida Manatee (Trichechus manatus latirostris) and the Antillean Manatee (Trichechus manatus manatus), although recent data indicates three separate lineages: one in Florida and the Greater Antilles; another in Western and Southern Gulf of Mexico, Central America, and Northwestern South America, West of the Lesser Antilles; and the third one on Northeastern South America, East of the Lesser Antilles. Evidence indicates that there might be hybridization with the Amazonian Manatee, in some areas near the mouth of the Amazon. In 2017 the West Indian Manatee’s status has been downgraded from endangered to threatened, but it's essential to have stronger emphasis on preserving and restoring warm water habitats, and increase the reports of manatee boat strikes, in order to sustain this progress.

Bull sea lion laughs after intruding on beach photo46s

Bull sea lion laughs after intruding on beach photo

Bull sea lions are huge and very territorial. They spend most of their day looking after their colony of female sea lions, which can be a full time job. They ward off rival males, keep an eye out for predators, and even keep humans from getting too close to their women or their turf. They have a loud bark that sounds like a dog with a cough and they use this bark to protest almost anything unusual, or to simply warn everyone else of their presence and their dominance. This bull in Loberia, on the coast of San Cristobal Island, in the Galapagos, is the undisputed king of the beach and he keeps busy guarding his kingdom. He had just run full speed up the hill to chase off another bull, who wisely also ran full speed over the sand dune and as far as he could to get away. Sea lions are not agile though, and the effort of the 200 yard dash nearly exhausted him. He needed to get back to the water and he decided that rolling down the hill was his best choice. As the bull made his way back to the water, a couple had been taking photographs of each other in various poses on the beach. Our enthusiastic bikini model was working very hard to find the right pose in the shallow tide pool with a beautiful ocean backdrop. She crouched and sat on a rock in the narrow canal that leads from the beach to the deeper water. The sea lion made its way toward her and barked. It's impossible to know if the bark was appreciation or annoyance, but the bikini model decided that she did not want to find out. She popped to her feet and made her way squealing, to the safety of the beach. The sea lion continued to the deeper water and the barking continued, but if you listen closely, you can definitely hear that it's more like a laugh than it was before. Apparently sea lions have a sense of humor!

Einstein loves to perch on top of the shower and has devised a unique way to get a drink of water. He will crawl across the wall using his feet and beak in a Spiderman type fashion. There is only a 1/2 inch ledge that he grabs with his beak. He then lifts himself up and grabs hold with his toes. Using his other foot to propel into another position where he can grab with his beak again. He repeats this until he reached the shower faucet. He wants a drink of water so his owner promptly turned on the water for him to take a drink. He changed his mind and decided he didn't want a drink. Instead, he wanted to come down off the shower. As soon as the owner opened the door to turn off the water, Einstein headed directly for the door frame and slid down, much like Batman repelling from a building! Most of all they require your companionship and a forever home. When that happens they are sent to parrot rescue facilities to be adopted by a new family or some spend their lives in sanctuaries. It is often said, "Having a parrot is much like raising a 2 or 3 year old child for the rest of your life!"

Baby Hedgehogs Take Adorable Bath Together54s

Baby Hedgehogs Take Adorable Bath Together

In this video, Rumble viewers watch eight small hedgehogs scurry around together in what appears to be a kitchen sink. One by one, the person taking the video picks up the little hedgehogs and inspects them. There is no audio, so viewers will imagine what is being said, and what sounds the little hedgehogs might be making. From above it looks like eight little pin cushions are meandering around the sink together. But each time a hedgehog is picked up, an adorable little critter face is revealed, along with legs and a soft little belly. Genetics are visibly at play in the coloration of the adorable little critters. Four little hedgehogs carry the same dark color. Two of hedgehogs are nearly white, and two more are a perfect blend of the white and dark colors. One thing they all have in common is the way their tiny noses bounce continuously, sniffing the air for information. Each hedgehog reacts a little differently to being picked up and inspected. Those reactions can be separated into three categories: “Hey, put me back down, I’m busy. Put me down NOW!” or “What’s happening? I’m scared so I’m balling up for protection and I’m not coming out till it’s over.” and even “Ok, you’re the boss. I’ll just relax here until you’re done looking at me.” Viewers notice part way through the video that a smaller hand also reaches into the sink to help inspect the little hedgehogs – indicating that a family has chosen to care for these hedgehogs. Many viewers’ natural reaction to this adorable video will be to ask themselves, “Would I like to have a hedgehog as a pet?” The most common type of hedgehog to be purchased and kept as a pet is the African Pygmy variety. The popularity of hedgehogs as pets appears to be increasing in North America. Hedgehogs are known to be a very viable pet alternative, but potential owners should know certain things before making a purchase. Hedgehogs are nocturnal in the wild and are the same when domesticated, which means they may not be the most engaging of pets during daylight hours. Another thing to remember is that their cute spines are as sharp as they look, which means they are not pleasant to hold when they are balled up. Hedgehog owners must be intentional with their pet’s diet or obesity and brittle bones can result. In the right home, a hedgehog will bring joy and entertainment.

Newborn Calves Adorably Munch On Same Patch Of Grass23s

Newborn Calves Adorably Munch On Same Patch Of Grass

These two calves are only a few days old. They were born on a warm, spring day in the meadow of a beautiful farm near Millbrook, Ontario. The farm allows the animals to roam freely over lush, green pasture on a wide expanse of rolling hills beside a forest. There are ponds to drink from and the cows graze happily in the sunshine and fresh air. Cows are social animals and being able to mingle and wander together is an important part of life for them. This is how farm life should be, with everything as close as possible to what nature intended for these gentle creatures. These calves are actually far too young to get any benefit from eating grass. They are still nursing and getting milk from their mothers, who graze watchfully alongside their babies. But the calves have seen their mothers and the other cows in the herd chewing on this green stuff all around them and they are curious and eager to imitate them. Even though they have hundreds of acres of grass to choose from, these adorable little calves have settled on the same clump and they have their heads pressed together in the most precious way as they nibble. This farm is what is referred to as an “ethical farm”, and they are becoming more popular and widespread across North America. The farmers will not subject the animals to the conditions needed to produce veal. They also refuse to keep the cows locked up in an indoor barn, and they value herd health and happiness over profit. These farms produce beef that costs a little more, but it’s an easy choice for those who object to the factory farm conditions but still want to eat red meat. As an added benefit, finding one of these farms near you provides the advantages of locally sourced food with less impact on the environment.

Talking parrot can quack like a duck46s

Talking parrot can quack like a duck

Einstein the parrot often entertains his owners as he chats away on the kitchen counter. He likes to practice his "fowl" repertoire. Saying quack crazy and asking, what's a duck. He then vocalizes a rooster sound and asks, what a roos? Roos is the word Einstein invented for rooster. He knows how to say rooster, he just prefers to shorten the word sometimes. Einstein loves to make up new phrases. Like human children he enjoys imitating the sounds of various animals. He knows a duck makes the quack sound, but he takes it a step farther and combines it with another word like crazy to say quack crazy. He does this because he knows it will make his owners laugh and it gets him attention. Another reason he does it, the owners believe is because the words have the same sound at the beginning. Einstein's vocabulary is so vast that he has invented many other phrases using alliteration. He also likes to whistle and goes into a little song and dance routine with his owner whistling in the background. Rescued pigs beg for treats & love at this amazing sanctuary1m06s

Rescued pigs beg for treats & love at this amazing sanctuary

Hilton and Meeka are a pair of very lucky pigs. But that wasn't always the case. They were bought as tiny pigs by people who were told that they were both dwarf pigs that would grow no bigger than a chubby cat. They were given a loving home where they thrived and were adored. But Meeka and Hilton thrived better than expected. And they grew much bigger than expected. By the time they had reached the size of an average dog, it was clear that they were not done growing and that they needed a much larger home. These wonderful pigs were intelligent and affectionate and they were both full of personality. It would be very easy to find them a home on a farm, but sadly, most farm animals have a very limited life span with a predictable and unfortunate end. Their family needed to find them a home where they would be loved and cared for as pets, not as food. This was a difficult task. Pigs this size are not easy to re-home and they both deserved a happy and long life with freedom that couldn't be given by their current family. Luckily, Meeka and Hilton found their way to a wonderful farm near Millbrook, Ontario. Wagging Tails Pet Resort is actually a dog boarding kennel that is located on a beautiful expanse of land in the country. But the owner, Lucy, has a very kind heart and a soft spot for animals. Many needy creatures have found their way to Lucy over the years. Some come from tragic circumstances and have a history of neglect and abuse. Others simply needed a home and couldn't find families that could properly care for them. However they reached her, these animals have now found a second chance at life and happiness with Lucy. Lucy showers these pigs, and all her animals, with love. They get daily treats and belly rubs. They have learned trust and have found acceptance here. Hilton is particularly happy when he gets an apple slice or a chunk of watermelon. He even seems to smile as he chews and it's a grin on a face that you can't help but love. His gentle personality makes him endearing to everyone who meets him. Meek is equally affectionate and loving, and she will fall over sideways on the ground if she senses that a belly rub is a possibility. She delights in fruit and veggies as well and even wags her tail with pure joy as she munches away on her treats. It's heart warming to see these wonderful and intelligent animals finding their way from uncertainty to a forever home in a place as beautiful as this.

In fact, the squirrels all knew when she arrived on the island that they were better to stay high in the trees ad keep a safe distance. Briva kept them all in line and they didn't dare set foot on the deck of the cottage. Now that Briva is in her golden years, she spends a lot of her day just lying in the sun, listening to the birds, and relaxing. She doesn't get moving until later in the day when her old muscles have warmed up and she doesn't move as quickly either. She is either too tired or too dignified to chase rodents, no matter how daring they are. Briva has also lost most of her eyesight. She sees shadows and can pick out large objects and make her way around pretty well, but she can't see a squirrel in front of her anymore. This cheeky little fellow seems to know that Briva cannot see him. He sees the peanuts that have been left on the deck and he carefully makes his way around to reach them. There is nothing wrong with Briva's nose or her ears though, and she can tell that there are little feet scratching on the wood. She can probably even smell him. The little daredevil sees Briva's head swivel around occasionally and he's off like a shot, still wary, even though he doesn't waste much time before coming back. He seems to know that she can't quite focus on him if he dashes back and forth quickly. This squirrel keeps coming back for more, convinced that the peanuts are worth the risk, and he's confident that his acceleration is much better than that of a sleepy old dog.
