On today’s show, Dr. Ben interviews Sally Fallon-Morell, founder and president of the Weston A. Price Foundation and author of several different books. Sally shares part of her story of how she came to being so passionate about nutritional truth. Sally touches on how disastrous the current dietary guidelines are and how we arrived here. She shares the nutrition claims of several different fats - both healthy and not. World War II was a pivotal point in our history. Before, we were the healthiest people group in the world. Afterwards, we are now one of the unhealthiest. There are several factors, including money, that are at play here. Sally and Dr. Ben discuss cholesterol, brain health, gut health, growing kids, autism, ADD, ADHD, anxiety, and depression. They specifically touch on how the fats and good bacteria that we eat create “feel good” chemicals and combat depression naturally. Sally explains who Weston A. Price was and what his work involved. She and Dr. Ben discuss where he travelled, how important organ meats were in the cultures he studied, how he found no vegetarian or vegan people groups, and how the structure of the mouth is dependent upon the nutrient density of the diet. Sally gives an abundance of information on raw milk - it’s history and it’s nutrition. Sally finishes by speaking about grains.

On today’s show, Dr. Ben interviews Dr. Caroline Leaf. Together, they focus on our 4th pillar, Peace. Our thoughts have a tremendous impact on our terrain and health, in general. Dr. Leaf begins by sharing her journey towards studying the mind. She shares how nutrition is important, but if you don’t get your mind right, you won’t be able to digest or utilize that food properly. Your mind is 99% of who you are. Your mind, body, and brain are different things. Your brain and body respond to your mind. Because of this, you can’t fully heal by only addressing the physical. Dr. Leaf touches on how your stress response, and your view of your stress, affects your health. You can actually make stress work for you instead of against you when you acknowledge what is happening and become thankful for it allowing you to focus on and deal with the issue at hand. We should constantly be bringing our thoughts in to captivity and renewing our mind. Over 75% of disease can be traced back to a single thought. Dr. Leaf speaks to neuroplasticity and how the brain can actually change. As you think, your brain changes. Today, Dr. Ben interviews Griffin Cole, a biological dentist and naturopathic medical doctor out of Austin. Dr. Cole shares a bit of his background in how began and how he got to where he is now. Dr. Cole speaks to those who would argue that mercury doesn’t leach from amalgam fillings and why it continues to be used. He shares the history of amalgam, other country’s laws and regulations regarding it, and the irony of how it arrives and leaves an office in the face of the fact that it is approved to be used in the mouth. Dr. Ben and Dr. Cole discuss specific studies regarding the toxicity of mercury in the mouth. Dr. Cole gives some tips on picking a dentist to help properly care for existing amalgam fillings and ways to detox the body once the fillings are removed. Together, they discuss the ever controversial topic of root canals and the impact of ozone in the process of removing and/or having them. He discussed some misinformation from popular dental documentaries, how/why a failed root canal can affect someone’s health in other areas of the body, and options for replacing failed root canals. On today’s show, Dr. Ben shares about his sister’s new podcast that he was on called the Art of Wellness. This inspired him to go back over the pillars of health in an effort to reach the millions of Americans that are clueless about true health. Today’s talk will be on nutrition. Think about food going into your mouth as a nourisher or killer for your microbiome. Your microbiome is so important for your health. In order to make new cells, you need raw materials (amino acids, vitamins, and fats). If you don’t have the right mix of high quality raw materials, you’re going to build inflamed cells. Lower quality materials are more readily available and cheaper than the higher quality, which is a big reason disease is rampant in America. Dr. Ben also speaks to how agriculture impacts our enzyme health. Our minerals are depleted because our food is depleted. He shares the differences in using carbohydrates and ketones as your fuel source. Raw materials, co-factors, fuel, and microbiome are the core of the nutrition pillar. Food really matters and you have to do more than just supplement your microbiome. If you have good resiliency built in you through food, you should be able to walk through germ and disease states with no problem. Dr. Ben touches on God-food vs. man-food in relation to coffee and wheat. He closes by going through some fad healing diets and their relation to leaky gut.

Morley speaks to forms of copper that are not bioavailable and how they react in the body. Copper isn’t really the glaring problem. Iron is. We take in iron, but our body recycles it so well that there is no excretory system for iron. Morley answers a few iron questions that come in through text. Dr. Ben asks Morley to clarify zinc and why it isn’t a good idea to supplement zinc. The supplemental zinc binds copper, which allows iron to get out of control. Morley explains why ascorbic acid creates a problem in the body. He clarifies some misunderstandings about ascorbic acid being listed as an ingredient in some whole food vitamin C products. Morley details hyaluronic acid and it’s benefits in the body.

On today’s show, Dr. Ben discusses the last Veritas pillar, peace. He begins the show by summarizing the conference on mitochondria that he attended this weekend. Overall, he found that several of these doctors agreed with him in believing that the single most important factor in mitochondrial health is peace. Sleep is a huge factor here. Your body needs time to repair and recover and most of it is done during your sleep. Staying up late, overusing electronics, and having larger feeding windows messes up our circadian rhythm, not allowing our bodies to recover like they should. The notable solutions to helping regulate the circadian rhythm were getting plenty of sunlight, suppressing your eating window, and turning off or limiting artificial light later in the day. However, you can only get a certain level of wellness using these strategies. Dr. Ben addresses a listener text asking how long it should take to heal. He finishes the show by encouraging the listeners to really wrestle with the things outside of time and space...who they are and why they’re here. When you really seek out the truth of this, then knowing the truth will set you free and this is what brings peace. Through this truth you can capture thoughts that are lies from the enemy. These lies are what create unnatural responses like fear, stress, anxiety, etc. We are meant to be at peace and have a sound mind. As you seek the truth, the lies become easier to spots and peace attends knowing the truth.

On today’s show, Dr. Ben interviews J. Warner Wallace on our most important pillar, peace. J. Warner shares his background as a detective and how he journeyed from atheist to believer. He had to fight through not believing in God at all, to believing it could be true, to fully believing in God and realizing he needed a savior. His background work in cold cases, in many of which the eye witnesses were gone, equipped him to thoroughly test the accounts of the Bible for truth. His work found that they surpass the test of truth. Dr. Ben and Mr. Wallace discuss the differences in a naturalistic versus a supernatural worldview. This is a cause for much of the doubt in peoples’ minds. J. Warner helps explain why this isn’t as far-fetched as it may seem. He explains how abductive reasoning and explaining things beyond reason/possible doubt can help one wrestle with the unanswered doubts in their minds. He used his detective skills to go through 6 atheistic explanations for rejecting Jesus’s story and found they weren’t reasonable. Once he was willing to lay down his bias that nothing supernatural could occur, he realized that the Christian explanation is actually the most plausible. Interestingly, he was also able to break the conspiracy ideal by using his past experience in breaking conspiracies in cases. J. Warner finishes by explaining the physical phenomena in relation to the death of Jesus and touching on the differences in the gospels.

On today’s show, Dr. Ben continues going through the Veritas four pillars, covering hydration. All liquids are not created equal in hydration. You need to stop drinking sugars. This doesn’t stop at soda, but also juices, and “sugar free” drinks. Those are likely sweetened with artificial sweeteners, like sucralose (Splenda), which kills your gut bacteria. Be cautious with caffeine and alcohol, which can dehydrate you because they are natural diuretics. Our food and environment can also dehydrate us. Sitting all day, eating processed foods, etc. all contribute to this. Try using food to help hydrate you. Chia seed pudding, raw vegetables, fresh fruits, etc. are very hydrating so you get nutrition and hydration at the same time. The slower process of digesting these foods allows you to absorb more of the hydrating properties than just guzzling a cup of water. Dr. Ben gives you some great ideas on ways to hydrate without constantly using the bore that plain water can bring. He speaks to different structuring devices and how to bring structured water right to your home. He also touches on the contaminants in tap water and their consequences on our health. Dr. Ben finishes the show by taking the talk into the quantum realm and how water changes at spoken words/song and has memory. We are mostly made of water and it makes sense to realize how impactful water, words, thoughts, etc. are. He gives some practical tips on choosing bottled water in the store.

On today’s show, Dr. Ben addresses the third Veritas Pillar, Movement. He begins by reminding the listeners that not all calories are created equal and calories in/calories out is an antiquated model that doesn’t work. Insulin is what triggers fat storage. Insulin is released when the blood sugar is spiked with carbohydrates, especially processed carbs. Estrogen is the second factor in fat growth. Not only natural estrogen, but the estrogen mimicking toxins that we have in our environment contribute as well. Finally, growth factors, like inflammation (usually caused by excess iron), make fat growth run rampant in an effort to protect your organs. Exercise is not just to lose weight. When you move, you’re oxygenating, detoxifying, and hydrating the body. That should be your motivation. For the second half of the show, Dr. Ben goes in to the studies showing that sitting is the new smoking. Just take a look back at family photos in the early 1900s. You don’t see obesity. This wasn’t because they were always in a gym working out. It was because food was different then and movement was natural. There is a strong correlation between the low-fat fad and obesity. What you eat has more of an impact on weight than how much you exercise. However, lack of movement has a huge impact on health. The studies that Dr. Ben goes through show that the lack of exercise is as bad as smoking and increases all of the common diseases, like heart disease, stroke, diabetes, etc. A large workout routine at the end of the day doesn’t erase the damage done from sitting all day. Desk jobs account for most of the jobs in America, so it’s imperative that you’re diligent in getting up and moving around several times throughout the day. Dr. Ben shares his favorite exercise techniques and finishes the show by cautioning listeners who exercise to extremes, like marathons, iron man, etc. These types of exercises take their toll on the adrenals and stress hormones.
