Introduction to Ezra
This Week’s Lesson
In today’s episode, we are kicking-off our new series: “After the Exile”, a study of the books of Ezra, Nehemiah and Esther.
God had made it clear in the Torah, that spiritual adultery would lead to Israel's judgment via exile.
Through the prophet Jeremiah, God had promised that the exile would last 70 years so the land would enjoy a Sabbath rest.
Despite His people’s unfaithfulness, God remains faithful. Now living under the Persian empire, the people of God are given permission to return to the land, to rebuild the Temple, and eventually the city of Jerusalem.
Still, questions remain. Are we still the chosen people of God? Are the promises to Abraham and David still in effect? Is there truly hope for us? Is Yahweh still for us?
The answer is yes. Because God had plans for a future and a hope for His people (Jer. 29:11) and because He loves them with an everlasting love (Jer. 31:3-4), He is not done with them.
We will see how God used people like Zerubbabel, Joshua, Haggai, Zechariah, Ezra, Nehemiah, Esther and Mordecai.
They took action to help the people of God rebuild their lives and return to Him.
Let’s get started with an introduction to Volume I: Ezra – Rebuilding on the Solid Rock.

This Week's Lesson
We are in Lesson-06 in the series “Grow in Grace, Grow in Knowledge” from the book of II Peter.
This is Volume II of our series: “Strangers and Pilgrims” a study of I and II Peter.
The lesson is titled “Remember, Rejoice, Remain – Part I” and our focus passage is II Peter 3:1-9.
Please find your way in your Bible to that passage.
In our previous episode, we completed our two-part study of II Peter 2.
In that chapter, Peter alerted believers about the threat of false teachers. We must always be ready to recognize false teachers and to stand for the truth and our Lord, Jesus Christ.
These false prophets are driven by their lusts and their greed, and they can bring enormous harm to the fellowship. In the end, their destiny is destruction. God will judge and punish them.
In today’s lesson we begin our study of chapter 3 of II Peter.
These set of lessons will conclude our study of II Peter.
Peter is closing out this short epistle and he wants to encourage his audience to remain hopeful and firm as they continued to experience opposition and persecution from without and false teachings from within.
He is going to remind them of what they know, call out the folly of their adversaries, and encourage them with the glorious future that awaits them.
Let’s get started.

Today's Lesson
we are in Lesson-04 in the series “Grow in Grace, Grow in Knowledge” from the book of II Peter.
This is Volume II of our series: “Strangers and Pilgrims” a study of I and II Peter.
The lesson is titled “Watch Out for the Deceivers!!! – Part I” and our focus passage is II Peter 2:1-9.
Please find your way in your Bible to that passage.
In our previous episode, we completed our three-part study of II Peter 1.
In that first chapter, Peter reminded his audience of their great redemption in Christ and also of the strong foundation of their faith and the truth of God’s Word.
In between those affirmations, he encouraged them to not stand pat, to not grow stagnant.
No, they needed to continue to grow in grace and knowledge.
We have been called to abundant living (cf. John 4:14; 7:37-38; 10:10). We have been saved but we are not expected to just stay there. God wants more for us.
We are supposed to be growing more and more each day into the image of Jesus Christ (cf. Rom. 8:29-30).
We have everything we need for life and godliness in Him.
In today’s lesson we begin our study of chapter 2 of II Peter.
As we mentioned in our Introductory Lesson to II Peter, a big issue Peter is addressing in this second letter is the threat of false teachers.
To combat that false teaching, we need the true knowledge, the knowledge of God.
We must be ready to recognize false teachers and to stand for the truth and our Lord, Jesus Christ.
Today we will focus on our first division, “The Appearance of False Teachers”, v1-9.
Let’s get started.

Today's Lesson
Today we are in Lesson-03 in the series “Grow in Grace, Grow in Knowledge” from the book of II Peter.
This is Volume II of our series: “Strangers and Pilgrims” a study of I and II Peter.
The lesson is titled “Called to Abundant Living – Part III” and our focus passage is II Peter 1:12-21.
Please find your way in your Bible to that passage.
In our previous episode, we continued our study of II Peter 1, with our second division “Called to Fruitful Lives” from verses 5-11.
The Apostle Peter after reminding his audience of their great redemption, went on to exhort them to not just be satisfied with that knowledge as magnificent as it is. There is more.
He reminded them that our sanctification process should lead to spiritual growth and fruitfulness.
There are works to be done that been prepared for those of us who are in Christ (cf. Eph. 2:10).
And as believers, we are encouraged to take an active part in that sanctification process so that the very qualities of Jesus Christ are more than evident in our lives.
We are expected to produce spiritual fruit as we stay connected, as we remain in Him.
Today we will focus on our third and final division, “Called to Firm Lives”, v12-21.
As we look at the final portion of this first chapter, we will understand how we can live firm lives because we have a firm foundation.

Today's Lesson
We are in Lesson-02 in the series “Grow in Grace, Grow in Knowledge” from the book of II Peter.
This is Volume II of our series: “Strangers and Pilgrims” a study of I and II Peter.
The lesson is titled “Called to Abundant Living – Part II” and our focus passage is II Peter 1:5-11.
Please find your way in your Bible to that passage.
In our previous episode, we began our study of II Peter 1, with our first division “Called to Full Lives” from verses 1-4.
In this second letter, the Apostle Peter teaches that focusing on and living out the truth in Scripture, believers will be able to grow spiritually and stand firm against false teachings.
In our first division, Peter told us that because of God’s divine power, each believer has been granted everything they need for life and godliness.
This is done through the true knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and excellence.
There is that concept again: knowledge of Him (cf. Phil. 3:8-10). It’s all about Jesus.
It’s all about knowing Jesus.
Now that we understand how God has empowered, equipped, and enabled us to live a full godly life for His glory, we need to do something with that knowledge.
Today we will focus on our second division, “Called to Fruitful Lives”, v5-11.

This Week's Lesson
Today we are in Lesson-01 in the series “Grow in Grace, Grow in Knowledge” from the book of II Peter.
This is Volume II of our series: “Strangers and Pilgrims” a study of I and II Peter.
The lesson is titled “Called to Abundant Living – Part I” and our focus passage is II Peter 1:1-4.
Please find your way in your Bible to that passage.
In our previous episode, we covered our introductory lesson for the study of II Peter.
The Apostle Peter wrote two general epistles that we know as I & II Peter. The audience for this second letter is the same as in I Peter.
These were Christians who, like Israel of old, were scattered throughout the world, though the readers of this epistle were predominantly of Gentile rather than Jewish background.
The Apostle Peter wrote to a group of people under heavy persecution and suffering. This opposition came from the outside (unbelievers and the Roman government).
This second letter is a reminder (1:12, 3:1) of the truth of Christianity as opposed to the heresies of false teachers. This opposition was coming from the inside.
As I mentioned a moment ago, today we will focus on chapter 1 of II Peter.
In this section of the letter, Peter is going to remind his audience again of their great redemption in Christ and remind them also of the strong foundation of their faith and the truth of God’s Word.
In between those affirmations, he is going to encourage them to not stand pat, to not grow stagnant.
No, they need to continue to grow in grace and knowledge.

This Week's Lesson
We all long for home. For being in the place where we are supposed to be.
Believers are told by Jesus in Scripture that “we are not of this world” (cf. John 15:18-20; 17:13-15).
The Apostle Paul reminds us that our “citizenship is in heaven” (cf. Phil 3:20-21) and that we are really ambassadors of Christ to the world (cf. 2 Cor. 5:20).
That means we are not really citizens of this world. This is not really our home and ultimately this is not where we want to be.
Yet here we are. We are citizens of God’s Kingdom living in a foreign territory. And this is not only foreign territory, but it is also hostile territory.
As the world system hates and opposes Jesus, so too they will openly hate and oppose His people.
On top of that, we experience the trials and tribulations that come from living in a world that has been cursed by sin.
We live with the consequences of sin. The sins of others and our own sins. We long to be free from all that evil and suffering. But in the meantime, how should we live?
The Apostle Peter who walked with Jesus, lived for Jesus, and died for Jesus encourages us as we live as “strangers and pilgrims” in this foreign and hostile territory.
He understands that we will face trials and hostility. He understands things are not easy.
He wrote 2 epistles to a group of believers who were scattered throughout the world and faced similar challenges.
In today’s episode, we are beginning Volume 2 of our series: “Strangers and Pilgrims” on I Peter and II Peter.
In his second epistle to the same audience, the aged Apostle writes to remind them about the grace they have received.
He encourages them to “grow in the grace and knowledge of Jesus Christ.”
Let’s get started with an introduction to the book of II Peter.
Our series list titled: “Grow in Grace, Grow in Knowledge”.

Lesson Summary
Today we are in Lesson-11 in the series “Living Hope” from the book of I Peter.
This study is part I of our series: “Strangers and Pilgrims” which covers I and II Peter.
The lesson is titled “Living in Readiness – Part II” and our focus passage is I Peter 5:8-14.
Please find your way in your Bible to that passage.
In our previous episode, we began our study of I Peter 5. Peter exhorts both elders and church members to be in a state of readiness.
As believers, we should always remember that while we are in this world, we ought to live humbly with one another while standing firm in our faith until the glorious return of our Lord Jesus Christ.
In our lesson last time we saw how Peter encouraged the church’s elders and shepherds to take good care of the Lord’s people.
That’s what Jesus did. That’s what His shepherds should do. Selfless service to His people for His sake.
Peter also encouraged the church members to submit to the authority of the elders in humility.
We can have differences of opinion but in the end, humble submission to authority is the best path towards unity.
In today’s lesson we will complete our study of I Peter 5. This will close our study of Peter’s first letter.
Peter has a final word of encouragement and warning for the believers. He wants them to stand firm in the grace they have received.
Let’s get started.

This study is part I of our series: “Strangers and Pilgrims” which covers I and II Peter.
The lesson is titled “Living in Readiness – Part I” and our focus passage is I Peter 5:1-7.
Please find your way in your Bible to that passage.
In our previous episode, we concluded our study of I Peter 4. In this chapter, Peter encourages believers to purposely live for the will of God.
As believers, we should always remember that our Christian lives should be lived according to the will of God in the power of the Holy Spirit.
It is necessary for us to have a different attitude in life, a different purpose in mind, and a different way to spend our time while we still have that time.
In today’s lesson we begin our study of I Peter 5. This will close our study of Peter’s first letter.
After everything Peter has said in the previous sections of this letter, he wants his audience to stand firm and in an attitude of readiness as they look forward to the glorious return of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Today's Lesson
Today we are in Lesson-09 in the series “Living Hope” from the book of I Peter.
This study is part I of our series: “Strangers and Pilgrims” which covers I and II Peter.
The lesson is titled “Living for God’s Will – Part III” and our focus passage is I Peter 4:12-19.
Please find your way in your Bible to that passage.
In our previous episode, we continued our study of I Peter 4.
In this chapter, the Apostle Peter is encouraging his audience to live for God’s will instead of their own will.
Believers need to act differently because they are different as a result of their redemption by Jesus Christ.
Therefore, it is necessary to have a different attitude in life, a different purpose in mind, and a different way to spend our time while we still have that time.
The first order of business is to renounce sinful behavior and that was the subject of our first division. That was the focus of Part I of our study.
Last time we focused on how we should prioritize our lives to be good stewards of the grace of God.
Ultimately, the purpose for the use of our spiritual gifts is for God to be glorified through Jesus Christ to whom belongs all glory and dominion forever and ever Amen (cf. Dan. 7:13-14; Phil 2:5-11).
Today, we will focus on our third and final division Rest in a Faithful Creator (v12-19).
Peter encourages all of us to purposely live for the will of God by trusting Him in our suffering.
Let’s get started.

I Peter Lesson-08: Living for God’s Will - Part II
Today we are in Lesson-08 in the series “Living Hope” from the book of I Peter.
This study is part I of our series: “Strangers and Pilgrims” which covers I and II Peter.
The lesson is titled “Living for God’s Will – Part II” and our focus passage is I Peter 4:7-11.
Please find your way in your Bible to that passage.
In our previous episode, we began our study of I Peter 4. The Apostle Peter is encouraging his audience to live for God’s will instead of their own will.
They need to act differently because they are different as a result of their redemption by Jesus Christ.
They are no longer under the kingdom of darkness, but they are citizens of God’s kingdom (cf. Col. 1:13-14).
We are past the point of living to carry out our sinful desires like the Gentiles (i.e., unbelievers) do.
We need to be done with living under the power of sin. We must be different than unbelievers.
Today we will move to our next division in I Peter 4 as we discuss how we should Resolve to be a Good Steward (v7-11).
Let’s get started.

I Peter Lesson-07: Living for God’s Will - Part I
Today we are in Lesson-07 in the series “Living Hope” from the book of I Peter.
This study is part I of our series: “Strangers and Pilgrims” which covers I and II Peter.
The lesson is titled “Living for God’s Will – Part I” and our focus passage is I Peter 4:1-6.
In our previous episode, we concluded our study of I Peter 3.
In this chapter, Peter calls believers to godly living at home, at church, in the world, and even in the face of unfair treatment.
While we are boldly and clearing proclaiming the truth of the gospel, our lives as Christians should reflect the great reality of our redemption in Christ.
In essence, our lives should adorn the doctrine of the Gospel (cf. Titus 2:9-10) in every sphere: at home, in church, at work, in the neighborhood, in the city.
In today’s lesson we begin our study of I Peter 4.
In this chapter Peter will encourage his audience to make a concerted effort to live for the will of God.
They are now different because they have been redeemed by Jesus Christ.
They are no longer under the kingdom of darkness but citizens of God’s kingdom.
They are no longer pagans, unbelievers separated from God. They are part of God’s household.
So, it is necessary to have a different attitude in life, a different purpose in mind, and a different way to spend our time while we still have that time.
Let’s get started.

I Peter Lesson-06: Living Differently - Part II
Today we are in Lesson-06 in the series “Living Hope” from the book of I Peter.
This study is part I of our series: “Strangers and Pilgrims” which covers I and II Peter.
The lesson is titled “Living Differently – Part II” and our focus passage is I Peter 3:8-22.
Please find your way in your Bible to that passage.
In our previous episode, we concluded our study of I Peter 3. In this chapter, Peter calls believers to godly living at home, at church, in the world, and even in the face of unfair treatment.
Last time we covered our first division, Godly Marriages (v1-7), with Peter’s exhortation to both Christian wives and husbands.
Our challenge is for our Christian marriages to strive to live up to the expectations set in Scripture.
If we do that, we will bring an adornment that would be attractive to unbelievers in many ways.
In today’s lesson we conclude our study of I Peter 3. Peter continues to challenge his audience to live in a different way that unbelievers live. We have to stand out for God.
Peter addresses how this living differently should manifest itself not only in our Christian marriages.
It should also be evident in how we treat each other as members of God’s family, and how we deal with an increasingly hostile world.
Our focus today will be our second division Godly Behavior (v8-16) and our third division Godly Suffering (v17-22).
Let’s get started.

I Peter Lesson-05: Living Differently - Part I
Today we are in Lesson-05 in the series “Living Hope” from the book of I Peter.
This study is part I of our series: “Strangers and Pilgrims” which covers I and II Peter.
The lesson is titled “Living Differently – Part I” and our focus passage is I Peter 3:1-7.
Please find your way in your Bible to that passage.
In our previous episode, we concluded our study of I Peter 2. In this chapter, Peters calls believers to act as living stones that proclaim God’s excellence.
As believers, we should always remember that as God’s chosen people our lives should bring praise, honor, and glory to Him.
In today’s lesson we begin our study of I Peter 3. Peter will continue to exhort his audience to live in a different way that unbelievers live.
We have to stand out for God. Peter is going to address how this living differently should manifest itself in what kind of marriages we have, how we treat each other as members of God’s family, and how we deal with a hostile world.
Today we will focus on our first division, “Godly Marriages”, v1-7.

This study is part I of our series: “Strangers and Pilgrims” which covers I and II Peter.
The lesson is titled “Living Stones – Part II” and our focus passage is I Peter 2:11-25.
Please find your way in your Bible to that passage.
In our previous episode, we began our study of I Peter 2.
In that lesson, we saw how in contrast with inert, dead, monumental stones, Peter referred to his audience, to Christians, as living stones that live to proclaim God’s excellence.
He also referred to Jesus Christ as the Choice Living Stone. The Cornerstone.
We learned that as believers, we can safely put all our trust in this precious, choice stone (cf. Rom. 9:33; 10:11).
In today’s lesson we conclude our study of I Peter 2.
As we learned from v9-10, believers are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation and a people for God’s own possession.
Because of that reality, there are implications for Christians as to how we should live in this world that is not our home.
Today we will focus on our second division, “Excellent Stones” from verses v11-20 and our third division “Enduring Stones” from v21-25.
Let’s get started.

Please find your way in your Bible to that passage.
In our previous episode, we began our study of I Peter 1.
Last time we focused on v1-12, “Our Great Redemption”. We spent quite time looking at the covenant language present in both I and II Peter.
Because as believers, we are now in a new covenant with God through Jesus Christ (cf. Jer. 31:31-34; Luke 22:19-20). Jews and Gentiles, one people of God in Christ.
In today’s lesson we will conclude our study of chapter 1 of I Peter.
Last time we looked at everything we possess in Christ through our great redemption.
We have a living hope, a secure inheritance in heaven, and the assurance that we can face trials here on earth with joy because of God’s election of us.
In today’s study we will focus on the great responsibility we have as believers as we live as God’s elect.

I Peter Lesson-01: Living as God’s Elect - Part I
Today we are in Lesson-01 in the series “Living Hope” from the book of I Peter.
This study is part I of our new series: “Strangers and Pilgrims” covering both I and II Peter.
The lesson is titled “Living as God’s Elect – Part I” and our focus passage is I Peter 1:1-12.
Please find your way in your Bible to that passage.
In our previous episode, we had our introductory lesson to the study of I Peter.
The Apostle Peter wrote the I & II Peter epistles to Christians scattered throughout the world and who were predominantly of Gentile background.
In today’s lesson we begin in earnest our study of I Peter. As I mentioned a moment ago, we will focus on chapter 1 of I Peter.
Peter is going to use terms that were originally used to describe God’s covenant relationship with Israel.
And he is going to apply those terms to this new people of God, the Jews and Gentiles together in the Church.
Because as Paul states in Ephesians (cf. Eph 2:11-15), they are now one people:
So as we begin our study we will pay special attention to that covenant language present in both I and II Peter.
Because as believers, we are now in a new covenant with God through Jesus Christ (cf. Jer. 31:31-34; Luke 22:19-20). Jews and Gentiles, one people of God in Christ.

Revelation Lesson-47: Come Lord Jesus! - Part II
Today we are in Lesson-47 in the series “Come Lord Jesus!” from the book of Revelation.
This lesson is titled “Come Lord Jesus! – Part II” and our focus passage is Revelation 22:10-21.
Please find your way in your Bible to that passage.
In our previous episode, began our study of Revelation 22, “Come Lord Jesus!”.
In this chapter, the Apostle John sees the river and the tree of life and hears the guarantee of the imminent return of Jesus Christ to reign forever and ever.
John saw the river of the water of life. We learned that that the only source of true life is God Himself (cf. John 1:4-5).
This river of life flows from His throne.
We also saw that on either side of the river, we see the tree of life which bears 12 kinds of fruit, one for each month. This tree will provide healing, restoration, wholeness.
It will provide shalom and life. All provided by our great God and the Lamb.
We learned that there will no longer be a curse in our new home.
The end of the curse from the Fall (cf. Gen. 3:17) is finally here.
This is a secure, holy place for God’s people.
In today’s lesson we close out our Revelation study by focusing on the last half of chapter 22, the last chapter in the N.T. and in the Bible.
The focus of our lesson today is the imminent return of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Let’s get started.

In Rev. 21, the Apostle John sees the new heaven and earth and the arrival of the new Holy City, Jerusalem.
We are headed to a place that’s all new, all good and pure, and all permanent.
We should always remember that Almighty God will keep His promise to make all things new and to dwell with His people forever and ever.
In today’s lesson we begin to close out our Revelation study by focusing on chapter 22. This is the last chapter in the N.T. and in the Bible.
It also brings to a closure a journey we started about 2 years ago. The first episode in this Revelation series was published on Feb-08-21. When I started, I had no idea how long it would take.
But I knew that I wanted to take my time and go deep into the book of Revelation, and I wanted you to come on this journey with me.
And here we are. This book ends with 2 great promises to us and because of that we can continue waiting for the return of Christ with a sure hope.
Today we will focus on our first division, “The Promise of a New Life”.
Let’s get started.

This lesson is titled “All Things New – Part II” and our focus passage is Revelation 21:9-27.

In our previous episode, we began our study of Revelation 21.
The Battle of Armageddon has been fought and won. The Beast and the False Prophet have been joined by Satan in the lake of fire.
The Great White Throne Judgment has been completed and those whose names were not found in the Lamb’s Book of Life have joined them.
We are ready to move into the eternal state, the eternal kingdom of God.
Last time we focused on v1-8, “A New Heaven and a New Earth.”
We learned that when we speak of a new heaven and a new earth, what we have before us then is not just a typical restoration project.
Is not just refreshing or refurbishing something old. No, this is a complete renewal.
A total re-do. All things are being made new according to the promises of God. The restoration project is complete.
Today we will focus on our second and third divisions: “A New Holy City” (v9-21) and “A New Holy People” (v22-27).

Revelation Lesson-43: The Thousand Years - Part III
Today we are in Lesson-43 in the series “Come Lord Jesus!” from the book of Revelation.
This lesson is titled “The Thousand Years - Part III” and with it we conclude our 3-part series on Revelation 20.
Our focus passage is Revelation 20:11-15. Please find your way in your Bible to that passage.
It is in Revelation 20 where we find one of the most hotly debated passages in all biblical prophecy:
The Thousand-Year Reign of Christ or the Millennium
In part I of our study we learned that believers will rise to life eternal with Christ and they will reign with Him in His kingdom forever and ever.
Then in part II we saw that God Wins and Evil will be Vanquished Forever.
In today’s lesson we are going to conclude our study of that subject by looking at verses 11-15.
Satan and his armies have been defeated. He is now in the lake of fire never to leave again to deceive the nations or to oppose God.
What we have left before the Eternal State arrives has been the subject of many books and movies: Judgment Day.
Everyone has an appointment with the Great Judge there will be no more delays for evil to be judged once and for all.
The longing for justice from all time will be fulfilled.
Let’s get started.

Revelation Lesson-42: The Thousand Years - Part II
Today we are in Lesson-42 in the series “Come Lord Jesus!” from the book of Revelation.
This lesson is titled “The Thousand Years - Part II” and our focus passage is Revelation 20:7-10.
Please find your way in your Bible to that passage.
In our previous episode, we began our study of Revelation 20: The Thousand Years.
In this chapter, John witnesses the thousand-year reign, a final battle, and the great white throne judgment.
It is this section of Scripture where we find one of the most hotly debated passages in all of the study of prophecy:
The Thousand-Year Reign of Christ or the Millennium
In Part I of our study on Rev. 20, we focused on v1-6 and the Glorious Thousand-Year Reign.
As part of our lesson, we discussed the diverse views on the Millennium and how we cannot be dogmatic about the possibilities.
Even as we still might have questions about the Millennium, there is one thing we can know for certain:
Believers will rise to life eternal with Christ and they will reign with Him in His kingdom forever and ever.
In today’s lesson we are going to focus on the Global Final Battle by looking at verses 7-10.
In this section, Satan is freed from his maximum-security prison, the abyss, to:
“deceive the nations that are at the four corners of the earth,Gog and Magog,to gather them for battle; their number is like the sand of the sea.”
Let’s get started.
