Some of you may have heard that SpaceX recently launched Starship for the third time. It's also the first successful launch of the rocket. I've heard a lot of different ideas from Bible only Christians, also known as Sola Scriptura Christians, about where the Bible gets its authority from and why the additional seven books in the Catholic Bible shouldn't be in the Bible. Some people say the Catholics added the books later, others that they don't count because they were written in Greek rather than Aramaic. A while back a friend of mine said the Bible is self-referential and that's how we know which books are legitimate. He claimed that the only legitimate books in the Old Testament are the ones referred back to in the New Testament. Are they? The next one visible from the continental United States won't occur again for 20 years. Have you ever gone to sit down, only to find the chair you were about to sit in wasn't where you expected it to be? Or tried to lean on something only to find the object wasn't there. If you have, you'll know it doesn't usually work out the way it does in a comedy. Once your brain realizes the object you were about to rest on isn't there it tries to immediately reverse your momentum to prevent you from falling down. What happens next? We usually end up throwing ourselves forward too fast and we either pull a muscle or fall down in the other direction. This is an effect called over correction. It can happen when we try to compensate for something we observed has been pushed too far, or it can also happen in the environment when there is too much of a resource like an animal's food causing a population to boom then bust. We'll, could this happen with the climate? Could our attempts to correct the damage we think we've done to the climate actually do more harm? People often describe God with "All this" or "All that." The two most well-known descriptions are: "All Powerful" and "All Knowing." There is a third one that most people outside of Christian circles probably haven't heard much and that's "All Good." All Good means that everything God does is Good. Although sometimes it seems like God does or creates things that are contradictory to the idea that He is all good. I recently did a video on something called Fiducia Supplicans, a document recently released by the Vatican. The controversial part of the document, which has Pope Francis' signature, is that it allows catholic priests to bless same sex couples. Most Protestants who convert to Catholicism do so because they come to realize the Catholic Church is the Church Jesus founded. However, the recent headlines about Pope Francis allowing so-called same sex blessings have brought to light what a problem Pope Francis is for traditional Catholics trying to attract others to the Church. Why does this map have so many colors? It's because it's the new Hardiness Zone Map released by the USDA to help gardeners and more importantly farmers figure out where things are able to grow. People who have followed me for a while will know I occasionally like to talk about Space related topics, especially SpaceX's Starship, which is supposed to be the world's first fully reusable orbit capable rocket. With the recent events with Starship landing, it in the news again, I wanted to talk about just that. Just what? Starship Landing of course, or the lack thereof. I recently did a video on free will in which I determined the only way someone could have free will is if there was a little bit of randomness to the universe. In many Christian traditions November is a time to remember loved ones who have passed. Catholics will often visit cemeteries where their loved ones are buried and try to make a special point for praying for them. Do you ever feel like something is fated to happen? I'm not sure I can say anything ever happened to me that I'd call fate, but I have had experiences where I knew something was "meant to be." Fate dueling with freewill or sometimes time travel often makes for some interesting books or movie scripts. According to the Copenhagen interpretation of physics, fate doesn't exist.
