California is poised to become the nation’s “abortion sanctuary.”
The bills AB 2586, 1242, 1940, 2134, 2223, and 1918 are being voted on on Wednesday, August 31. Those pieces of legislation would radically expand access to abortion and increase abortion funding, which would result in what pro-life attorney Susan Swift calls an “abortion apocalypse.”
One of the bills, AB 2223, goes as far as to de facto legalize infanticide. And this bill would shut down any and all investigations of people that killed a child within first month of his or her birth.

The most radical move by the planned parenthood run California Legislature is AB 2223, the infanticide bill. It passed the CA Senate in the dead of night last night. Why would you bring a bill about murdering a child that is born up for a vote at 10:30pm PT, if not to hide it? Now it heads to the full assembly for a floor vote, and if passed there (a certainty), on to Gov. Newsom’s desk. Abortion bill reintroduced by Rep. Judy Chu in virtual press conference
A federal abortion bill was reintroduced by a California representative
In a virtual press conference on Tuesday, the Women's Health Protection Act was reintroduced by Connecticut Senator Richard Blumenthal and California Representative Judy Chu.
The federal legislation would protect the right to access abortions without restrictions that are often set by state law. If the bill were to pass, it means if Roe versus Wade falls, abortion access would still be protected.
"We face a point of potentially heightened scary crisis next year, or later this year when the United States Supreme Court decides Dobbs versus Jackson Women's Health," said Blumenthal.
The Dobbs versus Jackson Women's Health case focuses on a Mississippi law which bans abortion at 15 weeks of pregnancy.
The Supreme Court is expected to hear that case in the fall.
"This is part of a deliberate strategy by anti-abortion extremists to use state laws and the courts to slowly chip away at abortion access," said Chu.
According to the Center for Reproductive Rights, nearly 90% of American counties are without a single abortion provider.
Chu said this bill would increase access to abortion services for minorities and low-income patients.
"We need what but to ensure that no matter where you live, what your background is or what your zip code is, you have the same rights to make decisions about your own body as anyone else," said Chu.
But Susan Swift Arnall, Director of Outreach and Engagement at the Right to Life League, said this law isn't protecting the health of women. She also believes it will destroy 20 years of pro-life legislation.
"They're attempting to override the rights of millions of Americans who have expressed time and again, with their vote, one state at a time, saying we don't like abortion on demand. We want restrictions to make sure that women are protected and safe," said Arnall.

"In the Blood-Soaked Land of California"- Church Militant Interviews Pro-Life Attorney Susan Swift
California is pushing as many as 20 pro-abort bills to ensure women can keep killing their developing babies, despite the end of Roe v. Wade. In tonight's In-Depth Report, Church Militant's Kim Tisor has more on one such bill, its Catholic connection and the group fighting it.

Progressive Buffy Wicks introduced Assembly Bill 2223 in February. The bill shields women who abort their babies, and those who assist them, from criminal liability. It also conveys legal protection for women whose babies suffer perinatal death due to causes that occurred while the babies were in utero. But what does that mean?
Susan Swift, VP of Legal Affairs, Right to Life League: "The word perinatal is not pre-natal — that's before birth. Perinatal means after birth. So perinatal death is the death of a baby born alive. It's born, and then it dies — but due to causes that occur in utero."
Church Militant spoke with Swift, who is fighting the radical abortion bill. She parsed out this confusing verbiage.
Susan Swift:
Well, that can be a botched abortion. Anything can happen in utero. I mean conception happens in utero, genetics happen in utero, so maybe a Downs baby, right? And it's delivered and [suffers a fatal effect] maybe even in the course of delivery, because sometimes delivery can be complicated and very dangerous, and the baby can suffer consequences, so this term is not defined.
As Church Militant previously reported, the legislation doesn't give a clear definition of perinatal death due to causes in utero.
Susan Swift: "But we can credit one organization in particular for the term 'due to causes that occur in utero.' And that's the California Catholic Conference of Bishops."
California Assembly member Buffy Wicks confirmed Swift's claim during a recent state Senate hearing.
Sen. Buffy Wicks, D-Calif.: "I think I just explained my intent — in utero, if something happens in utero. And we actually worked pretty closely with the Catholic Conference on this, and worked closely with them and they came off opposition because of [sic] we clarified the intent of exactly what you're asking right now."
Sen. Shannon Grove, R-Calif.: "I appreciate that. I think the Catholic Conference is wrong."
So, according to Wicks and Swift, the California Catholic Conference negotiated the "in utero" language and is now taking a soft stance on Buffy's bill. Faithful Catholics opposed to the legislation must enter the fight.
Susan Swift: "You fight evil one step at a time; that's what you do."
Now the controversial bill heads to a state Senate committee, with a hearing set for early August.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — As abortion rights advocates condemn the far-reaching United States Supreme Court overturning the 1973 Roe V. Wade, those against abortion applaud the move.
The ruling removes the long-standing right to abortion in the United States, effectively allowing states to decide if or when it may occur.
Attorney Susan Swift with the Right To Life League, America’s oldest anti-abortion identifying group and based in California, says the decision is a win.
“This is ‘D’ Day, Dobbs day,” Swift said. Dobbs has now overruled Roe v. Wade are ecstatic, and we are overjoyed.”
The group, which wants abortion illegal in all circumstances, has long argued that abortion is not a right enshrined in the constitution.
“Our Congress has never passed an abortion amendment, there is no right to abortion in the constitution, that was made up by an activist Court, they created it,” Swift said.
Twenty-six states have laws triggered by Friday's ruling or are likely to pass new laws restricting abortion, California is not one of them.
Instead, officials in the progressive stronghold have vowed to bolster abortion rights. Through proposed legislation and a proposed amendment to the state constitution, something Swift’s group plans to fight.
“California is going to be a pro-abortion, sanctuary state for the entire nation,” Swift said. “It’s deplorable and it’s despicable but they are marching it through and the only thing that’ll fix it are elections.”
The group says it will continue to advocate for anti-abortion laws while supporting medical clinics and counseling centers that help women facing unplanned pregnancies but that do not perform abortions.

Abortion 'crisis': 83 House Dems urge Biden to declare public health emergency over Roe v. Wade reversal
Eighty-three House Democrats signed a letter urging President Biden and Health and Human Services Secretary Xavier Becerra to declare a public health emergency to mitigate the "full-scale reproductive health crisis" from the Supreme Court overturning the Roe v. Wade abortion case.
"The Supreme Court’s radical and dangerous decision in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization has precipitated a full-scale reproductive health crisis across our nation," the Democrats, led by Rep. Lloyd Doggett, D-Texas, wrote in the letter sent Tuesday. "It has also plunged our health system into a state of uncertainty and upheaval that threatens patients’ lives."
In Dobbs, the Court reversed Roe, the 1973 decision that legalized abortion in all 50 states, striking down state laws. The recent decision returns the hot-button issue to the states, where Democratic-controlled legislatures have codified Roe and Republican-controlled legislatures have acted to protect the unborn.
"Abortion bans can unnecessarily impede lifesaving medical procedures in the event of pregnancy complications or loss," the Democrats argued in the letter. "Health experts warn that in the aftermath of this disastrous ruling, the U.S. maternal mortality rate — which is already the highest in the developed world — is certain to rise, with disproportionate impacts on communities of color."

With the Supreme Court decision in Dobbs v. Jackson Women's Health Center imminent, the radical pro-infanticide Left is stepping up attacks on pro-life centers and illegally protesting outside of Associate Justices' Amy Coney Barrett and Brett Kavanaugh's homes.
In an unprecedented leaked Supreme Court draft opinion, authored by Associate Justice Samuel Alito, and signed onto by Justices Thomas, Kavanaugh, Coney Barrett, and Gorsuch, the High Court found no Constitutional protection for abortion in the document.
In this current climate of criminals are virtuous, and traditional values holding Americans lawbreakers, it took Nancy Pelosi over five weeks after unanimous Senate approval to pass security authorization for the Supreme Court Justices. As an aside, 27 of her Democrat House colleagues voted against the measure.
All of this was initiated after a man drove from California to Maryland with plans to assassinate Justice Brett Kavanaugh. In March of 2020, Democrat Senate Leader Chuck Schumer said “I want to tell you, Gorsuch. I want to tell you Kavanaugh: You have released the whirlwind, and you will pay the price... You won’t know what hit you if you go forward with these awful decisions.” in response to a pending Louisiana abortion case.
Liberalism is a religion to these people. It is dogmatic and it is strident. Among their sacraments of climate change, gun control, social justice, economic equity, and transgender supremacy, none are more important than abortion. Just How Dangerous is the Abortion Pill? Attorney Susan Swift and Brannon Howse Discuss
The abortion industry touts the abortion pill as simple and safe ‘health care,’ but something that directly and intentionally kills a living human being can never truly be classified as health care. The abortion pill is deadly for the preborn child, but also dangerous for the child’s mother.
Here are five things every woman should know about the risks of the abortion pill.
1. RESEARCH SHOWS THE ABORTION PILL IS FOUR TIMES MORE DANGEROUS THAN FIRST-TRIMESTER SURGICAL ABORTION.
A 2015 study, “Incidence of Emergency Room Department Visits and Complications After Abortion,” examined the abortion complication rate of women in California who underwent abortions from 2009-2010, which were paid for through Medicaid.
Researchers found that the complication rate for women who took the abortion pill was 5.2%, compared to 1.3% for women who underwent first-trimester surgical abortions. When looking specifically at abortions that caused “major complications,” researchers discovered that more severe complications occurred for women who took the abortion pill (a rate of .31%) than women who underwent first-trimester surgical abortions (a rate of .16%).
Complications from the abortion pill include hemorrhaging, incomplete abortion, and infection that can cause death. Read the study here.
2. RESEARCH SHOWS APPROXIMATELY 6% OF WOMEN WHO TAKE THE ABORTION PILL NEED EMERGENCY CARE FOR COMPLICATIONS.
The results of a Gynuity-sponsored study published in 2021 in the journal Contraception revealed that six percent (6%) of 1,157 women who took the abortion pill visited the emergency room or an urgent care center for abortion pill-related complications. Ten of those were serious effects, with five women requiring blood transfusions.
This data mirrors that of abortion complications in the United Kingdom (UK). As previously reported by Live Action News, Kevin Duffy, a former Global Director of Clinics Development at MSI Reproductive Choices (formerly Marie Stopes International), stated that nearly 6% of women (as many as 1 in 17 pregnant women) who took the abortion pill in the UK between June 1, 2019, and May 31, 2021, were later treated for complications, and required treatment for incomplete abortions. He noted that this complication rate is consistent with data from Marie Stopes Australia’s 2020 report that found an overall complication rate of 6.37% for chemical abortions in 2020.
In addition, Duffy and his team found that three percent (3%) of women required surgery to remove the preborn child’s remains, and more than two percent (2%) required treatment for hemorrhaging.
While six percent may not look like much on paper, based on the pro-abortion Guttmacher Institute’s 2017 statistics on chemical abortions, an estimated 20,380 U.S. women per year may be visiting emergency rooms and urgent care facilities after taking the abortion pill.
3. THE ‘NO-TEST’ ABORTION PILL PROTOCOL PUTS WOMEN’S FUTURE PREGNANCIES AT GREATER RISK.
The FDA recently decided to loosen the safety protocols for the abortion pill, allowing women to obtain the pill without prior testing or a physical exam, and even to obtain the pills by mail. But this lack of testing and oversight may put women’s lives at risk, as well as the lives of their future children. Fifteen percent of the U.S. population is Rh negative. If a woman is Rh negative and her baby’s father is Rh positive, her future children’s lives will be at risk if her Rh negative status goes undetected and untreated during pregnancy. When an abortion is carried out without knowing if a woman has Rh positive blood, any child she decides to have in the future could die as a result.
Kristi Stone Hamrick, who is Rh negative, explained, “The first child from that combination is usually fine, but then antibodies build up when blood comes in contact, such as during birth, accident, or abortion. These antibodies can cause later pregnancies to end in tragedy, when the mother’s own antibodies attack the blood cells of children in her womb, often causing death.”
The solution is for the mother to receive injections of Rh immunoglobulin, which prevent the mother’s body from making those antibodies. These injections must be administered during pregnancy and immediately after delivery (or an abortion or miscarriage), or the mother will carry the antibodies for the rest of her life, thereby risking the lives of her future children.
But the abortion industry’s “no-test” abortion pill protocol does not administer Rh testing to abortion clients.
4. ER VISITS FOR ABORTION PILL-RELATED COMPLICATIONS HAVE SKYROCKETED.
A study from the Charlotte Lozier Institute revealed that the rate of abortion-related emergency room visits following the use of the abortion pill increased by an astounding 507% between 2002 and 2015. The study examined data from women residing in 17 states providing Medicaid funding for abortion. The women were over 13 years of age at the time of their abortions, and visited the emergency room within 30 days.

This means that the true number of abortion complications will be hidden from women, leaving them blind to the risks they take when they swallow the abortion pill.
While Danco is no longer required to report non-fatal complications, they or others (such as women or medical practitioners) may choose to do so voluntarily. A recent analysis of complications submitted to the FDA by the manufacturer showed that women who experience complications from the abortion pill are more likely to visit an emergency room than the abortion facility where they obtained the pills. These women are also encouraged to lie to emergency room doctors, and tell them they are miscarrying rather than having an abortion. This highlights the fact that abortion pill complications are severely underreported.
Abortion advocates will lie and claim that the abortion pill is as safe as Tylenol, but these studies and reports reveal the truth. The abortion pill is dangerous for women, without question.
