Better Call Saul: Mike tells Saul how to move on
This is one of the best scenes in the show. Better Call Saul turned out to be as good if not better than Breaking Bad.

Documentary: How Apple made wireless popular
Wi-Fi is everywhere, and it is difficult to imagine life without it. However, it wasn't long ago that hardly anyone had wireless networking. Apple didn't invent wireless, but they get credit for making it popular.

Cloudflare account executive gets laid off
I am angry about the way Cloudflare handled this layoff. First of all, it was done by people this employee never met before. They initially tried to tell her that it was due to performance issues. She stopped them and pointed out that her reviews were good and never had any negative feedback. When she said she wanted an explanation, they didn't have one. My guess is they wanted to talk to their attorney so they could supply a canned bullshit excuse. I too have been laid off without explanation. It sucks.

Pramila Jayapal said what?
Pramila Jayapal had one hell of a Freudian slip while whining about January 6th. Now we know she has inappropriate thoughts about Trump. I bet most liberal women do.

Candace Owens had a great interview with Andrew Tate. It's unfortunate that Andrew decided to go with Islam. I hope someone gives him the gospel and wins him to Christ for his sake.

Apple announces the iPhone 15 Pro
After almost 5 years of holding onto the iPhone 8+, I finally decided to upgrade to the iPhone 15 Pro Max in October 2023. The 8+ wasn't going to get another iOS update, so I decided this was a good time to upgrade. The 15 Pro Max is the first phone I have owned since the iPhone was given a dramatic redesign that started with the iPhone X. While I still wish the front of the phone was all screen with no cutout, I have been enjoying the bigger screen more than I thought I would. This is the first iPhone I ever bought with FaceID, 3 camera lenses, no home button, USB-C, an OLED display, a display with pro-motion, an e-sim, and 5G.
I thought I would miss the home button, but I don't. I am enjoying FaceID a lot more than I thought I would. Everything on my 15 Pro Max seems so much faster than my 8+. I am indifferent to Apple replacing the lightning port with USB-C, although I didn't like having to buy new cables. The OLED display is great. I love having pro-motion. The e-sim is nice. 5G is a lot faster than I thought it would be. Around 2021, when my financial situation wasn't that good, I tried going with pre-paid cell service, and I don't believe I'll ever go back to post-paid service. I have my 15 Pro Max set up with Mint Mobile, and so far the service has been excellent.
Now that I have experienced FaceID and a much bigger display, I wonder if I would have enjoyed the iPhone X. I resisted it when it was announced in a keynote because I thought the notch was stupid, and I didn't like the radical redesign. I don't know how long I will keep the 15 Pro Max, but I hope to hang on to it for at least 3 years. I also keep hoping that one day, Apple will finally make an iPhone that has a display with no cutout. One interesting thing worth mentioning is 256 GB of storage was the maximum available when I bought the 8+. 256 GB of storage is the minimum available with the 15 Pro Max. Wow.

Apple announces the iPhone 8 & 8+
The keynote for the 8 and 8+ was the first keynote in the Steve Jobs Theater. The iPhone 8+ was a big transition for me. I had a great deal on an unlimited plan with Sprint, but by 2014, I still wasn't able to be on a phone call and use cellular data at the same time with Sprint. That was unacceptable to me. I was able to do that with my first iPhone on ATT in 2010. I was also a bit put off by the fact that my 6+ seemed really sluggish. I didn't know that it was due to Apple releasing an iOS update that throttled the CPU for older batteries. When I had a new battery installed on my 6+, it ran like new and I kept it as a backup phone for a few years.
I didn't want to go back to ATT, and I wasn't interested in Verizon. T-Mobile had just opened a store in my city, so I decided to give them a try. Who knew that one day T-Mobile would buy Sprint? I spent more money to get an unlimited data plan with T-Mobile, but I got better coverage and faster speed. When I bought the 8+ from that T-Mobile store in November of 2017, I went with a black model. This was the first iPhone that had a haptic button instead of a real button that pressed down. It really impressed me how a little vibration can give the sensation of actually pressing a button. Apple also introduced augmented reality with the 8+, and I think it's a neat feature but I haven't used it very much. Wireless charging was something that I ignored as a gimmick until early 2022 when a friend let me try it with their charger. It wasn't until I saw it in action in person that I wanted a wireless charger.
During the same keynote, Apple introduced the iPhone X (Ten). I was so put off by the notch and the lack of a home button that I didn't want to give it a try. I wanted to stick with an iPhone form factor that I was familiar with, so I used my 8+ for almost 5 years. Having TouchID instead of FaceID during the China Virus mask mandate was nice.

Apple announces the iPhone 6 & 6+
I remember how happy I was when I watched this keynote. Finally, Apple introduced a real size increase to the iPhone. I also enjoyed a bigger battery because I finally had an iPhone that could last an entire workday. They also introduced a smaller version for people who didn't want the 5.5-inch screen. The iPhone 6+ was the first iPhone I ever owned with Touch ID and Apple Pay. TouchID seemed so futuristic, and Apple Pay was and still is so convenient. I am not opposed to a cashless society if it means it's convenient, private, and secure because of Apple Pay.
I bought a white 6+ from a Sprint store in November 2014. I got a white one with gold trim because the black ones were sold out, and I didn't have the patience to wait for them to restock. I regretted getting a white iPhone because they just don't look as good as the black ones. I will never buy a white iPhone again. Slight regret with that choice of color aside, I really enjoyed my iPhone 6+ for 3 years. In Hindsight, Apple should have called the 6+ the 6 Pro instead.

Apple announces the iPhone 5
I remember watching the keynote and having my hopes up for a bigger phone. By this time, Android phones had screens that absolutely dwarfed the iPhone. The rumor was Apple was going to finally make the iPhone with a bigger screen. I was disappointed when it was revealed that Apple's idea of making the screen bigger was to simply make it a bit taller. However, I bought the iPhone 5 because it had 4G LTE and it was available for Sprint. I mainly bought it to go back to Sprint and enjoy 4G with an unlimited data plan. I never went back to ATT after that.
I bought an iPhone 5 in September of 2012. This was also the first iPhone with the Lightning port which was so much better than the 30-pin connector. This was also the first iPhone I ever bought that was not introduced by Steve Jobs. R.I.P.

Steve Jobs presents the iPhone 4
This keynote is one of the most memorable keynotes to me. I wanted an iPhone since the original, but I didn't buy the original iPhone, the iPhone 3G, or the iPhone 3GS because the iPhone was exclusive to ATT. I had service with ATT before, and I switched back to Sprint as soon as I could because I hated ATT. However, I was tired of waiting for the iPhone to be available on Sprint, and the iPhone 4 had features that were irresistible. The retina display was amazing. The Facetime video call feature is neat, but I haven't use it as much as I thought I would. I ended up being more interested in Facetime Audio because that offers encrypted phone calls. The iPhone 4 ended up being the first iPhone I ever purchased. I bought it in September of 2010. However, I didn't enjoy having a plan with such limited data.
This is also the keynote where Steve Jobs complained that so many wireless devices were interfering with his ability to show off features of the iPhone 4, but I find that claim odd since the iPhone 3GS had no problems. This video has been edited to just the iPhone 4 features.

Steve Jobs presents the 1st iPhone
On the 9th of January, 2007, Steve Jobs revealed a revolutionary product. The iPhone. I remember watching this presentation in 2007 and wanting one. I had no idea the iPhone would be so popular or be such a big part of Apple's revenue. It's amazing how many features the iPhone introduced that are now taken for granted. The first iPhone I ever owned was the iPhone 4.
