Is Fatman (2020) Worth Your Time? - Movie Review
Christmas films are mostly the same, The magic of Christmas, whatever the f that means. Redemption and forgiveness, why? And romance, boring. So when you have Santa fighting off an assassination attempt, you have to pay attention.
Anyway… when recently searching for Christmas films that weren't littered with cheer and good will, I found Fatman. I briefly scanned the synopsis, something about Santa trying to save Christmas, a prepubescent kid whose got the ‘ump and hired a hitman trying to kill Santa… wait what?!

Is Gremlins (1984) Worth Your Time? - Movie Review
We’ll talk about Gremlins! That’s right, it is a Christmas movie since the events played out in it feature around Christmas Eve and there is a shit load of snow, real or fake makes no difference to me!
So with that out of the way, did you know that Gremlins was loosely coined in the 1920s amongst RAF pilots and engineers?
Gremlins were mythological creatures used as a comical way to pass off anomalies when things malfunctioned in the aircrafts at that time.
So how did we go from that quaint little nugget of knowledge to the 1984 film, where little green monsters come up with wicked and conniving methods of killing people?

Is True Romance (1993) Worth Your Time? - Movie Review
True Romance is, first and foremost, entertaining. It’s a ridiculous story with unlikely situations and unbelievable relationships but it’s fun to watch and, let's face it, with most modern movies, there's not a lot of fun to be had these days.

Is Westworld (1973) Worth Your Time? - Movie Review
Get Paul's reaction to Westworld and find out if Westworld is worth watching.
A great premise of Crichton’s was to put people in a theme park setting. Where obnoxious people relax, expecting to enjoy themselves and let their fat hang over their waistbands. This theme park idea also puts these people in a rat maze equivalent, where they are forced to stick to the safe routes. Putting people in a captive environment, making them vulnerable, non-suspecting and unprepared is a great time to f with them. It was such a good idea, Michael wrote it twice!
Westworld focuses on a theme park comprised of three different experiences, or worlds. We have the Medieval world, Roman world and Westworld. Westworld is where the majority of our film takes place and it’s based on a frontier town in the 1800s. We’ve got the hotel, the saloon and the brothel, people spitting in spittoons and men that are desperate to murder and f something, and probably in that order.

Cross of Iron - Movie Review
Get Paul's reaction to Cross of Iron and find out if Cross of Iron is worth watching.
Who would have thought that the former country of Yugoslavia, a director necking whiskey all day and money from a porn director, would have combined to create a war film that still receives accolades to this day!
It is 1943, and the German army—ravaged and demoralised—is hastily retreating from the Russian front. In the midst of the madness, conflict brews between the aristocratic yet ultimately pusillanimous Captain Stransky and the courageous Corporal Steiner. Stransky is the only man who believes that the Third Reich is still vastly superior to the Russian army. However, within his pompous persona lies a quivering coward who longs for the Iron Cross so that he can return to Berlin a hero. Steiner, on the other hand is cynical, defiantly non-conformist and more concerned with the safety of his own men rather than the horde of military decorations offered to him by his superiors.

From Start to Finish Line: Is Gran Turismo Worth Watching?
Paul asks... Is Gran Turismo worth watching?
How the hell does this happen? A movie based on a racing simulator. Not a video game, but a racing simulator.
Now I know that Gran Turismo is technically a video game, but it never had a story, it was just about winning races and buying stuff to get better cars so you could win more races and buy more stuff. There is no other gameplay than that.
But I never once thought that the game had such a compelling story that this should be a film! Especially when you have such great story-driven single-player games such as The Witcher and Red Dead Redemption, you’d think they would be top of the live-action movies wish list, not f'ing Gran Turismo!

A Complete Mystery: Is A Haunting in Venice Worth Watching?
Paul asks the question, is A Haunting in Venice worth watching?
Paul's ill-researched opinion of Poirot films is that murder happens on a cruise liner, a chateau, or a stately home. Someone gets dead and Poirot bores the audience to death throughout the duration explaining to the simpletons in the room, who dunnit. All the time basking in his massive ego.
Is Paul right?

Dual personalities: Is Gangster No. 1 Worth Watching?
Gangster No. 1 is a 2000 British crime drama film that attempts to bring a distinctive British flavor to the well-established gangster film genre. The film follows the ascent of a London criminal organization, with its roots firmly planted in the 1960s. Initially a stage play, the film adaptation was marred by controversy due to interference from the producers in the writing and casting process. This creative clash led original playwrights Louis Mellis and David Scinto to walk away from the project, citing artistic differences. Their departure resulted in Scottish newcomer director Paul McGuigan taking the helm, leaving us with his interpretation of the story.
Despite the controversies surrounding its production, Gangster No. 1 garnered generally positive critical reception. The film is praised for its gritty realism and its depiction of the darker side of London's underworld. However, some critics have pointed out the film's lack of originality, given its similarities to other gangster films like Goodfellas and Reservoir Dogs.
Overall, Gangster No. 1 is a solid entry into the gangster film genre, offering a unique British perspective on the rise and fall of a criminal empire. While the film's production was marred by creative disagreements, the final product remains a compelling and entertaining watch.

Hot And Bothered: Is Boiling Point Worth Watching?
There are times... only a few times, mind you, where a piece of media, whether it be a film or TV show, grabs and squeezes you by the scrotum and holds you captive till you've finished watching.
Boiling Point is high tension, anxiety inducing and difficult to watch film. If you've ever worked in a kitchen, then this film might make you reach for the antidepressants or start banging your head repeatedly against a wall. You may even reach for the bottle of prosecco your partner has been saving for Christmas and down it in one. Anything to stop the PTSD inducing memories of shite times past.

Ridley Scott is one of the most acclaimed directors of our time. He's made some of the most iconic films of the past few decades, including Blade Runner, Alien, and Gladiator. But he's also made some flops, like Prometheus and Exodus: Gods and Kings.
So which Ridley Scott are we getting with American Gangster? The intelligent and visionary director who crafts complex and morally ambiguous characters? Or the hack who makes glossy but soulless blockbusters?

Mission: Impossible (1996) Movie Review: Smart & Ambitious or Choppy, Episodic Mess?
This week, we have a guest! Join Paul, Samir, and Henry of The Bond Geek for a live stream of their thoughts on the 1996 film Mission: Impossible!
Paul seems to remember liking the film, but that could be because he was receiving fellatio in the darkest corner of the cinema while watching it.
Samir doesn't like Tom Cruise movies, for reasons not clearly explained. It's safe to assume that he'll hate it, but perhaps we'll be able to nail down his dislike of Cruise.
Henry suggested it... So we assume he likes it, but you never know. Sometimes having a rant is cathartic. We will rely on Henry to provide the youthful energy, especially since we'll be streaming at the later time of 9 pm 🙄

Bad Lieutenant (1992) Movie Review: A Tale of Redemption or Scrap-Heap of Uninspired?
Ah, the stars have aligned for a cinematic event of the season—a live stream featuring Paul and Samir dissecting the nuances of the 1992 classic "Bad Lieutenant." Trust us; you should probably skip this one. Why? Let's dig in, shall we?
First off, Paul. Ah, Paul, the man who enjoys films about corrupt police so much, he probably dreams in noir. The "Bad Lieutenant" experience will likely transcend mere viewing for him; it'll be a spiritual journey. Watching him delve into the heart of corruption in the film will be like watching a sommelier swirl a glass of fine Cabernet—except Paul will probably be swirling a glass of whisky, vodka, or whatever else will get him comfortably numb. He'll navigate us through the twisted lanes of the police force, and you'll feel his soul sing, assuming you can hear it over his tipsy commentary.
And then, we have Samir, who's currently on a fitness drive and living as cleanly as a detoxed liver. In all likelihood, Samir will be guzzling down a green smoothie instead of beer, because nothing pairs better with corruption and crime than kale and chia seeds. His healthy living won't stop him from making jokes, although calling them 'jokes' may be a bit generous. Will they make sense in the context of "Bad Lieutenant"? No. Will they make sense in any context? Probably not. But will they provide a confusing yet oddly delightful contrast to Paul's semi-inebriated analysis? Absolutely.

The Great Gatsby (2013) Movie Review: Eclectic Energy or a Busted Flush?
Roll out the red carpet and tighten your bow ties, ladies and gentlemen, because Paul and Samir are about to make cinematic history. Okay, not really, but they are planning to live stream their review of "The Great Gatsby," the 2013 version that may or may not be better than the 1974 film—which Paul has declared as the equivalent of stepping on a cold cat turd, in the dark, whilst having your home robbed.
Are you ready for the most anticipated evening of your week? A two-hour breakdown of a two-hour movie, complete with side rants and inside jokes that only Samir understands. But hey, that's what you signed up for, right? Intellectual commentary with just a hint of "Wait, what did he just say?".
Now, if you'll excuse us, we need to go prepare our livers and our funny bones for what promises to be an evening of cinematic discussion that will be unforgettable—for better or worse. Cheers!

The Great Gatsby (2013) Movie Trailer
"The Great Gatsby" directed by Baz Luhrmann and starring Leonardo DiCaprio. In theaters May 10, 2013.
"The Great Gatsby" follows Fitzgerald-like, would-be writer Nick Carraway (Tobey Maguire) as he leaves the Midwest and comes to New York City in the spring of 1922, an era of loosening morals, glittering jazz and bootleg kings. Chasing his own American Dream, Nick lands next door to a mysterious, party-giving millionaire, Jay Gatsby (Leonardo DiCaprio) and across the bay from his cousin, Daisy (Carey Mulligan) and her philandering, blue-blooded husband, Tom Buchanan (Joel Edgerton). It is thus that Nick is drawn into the captivating world of the super rich, their illusions, loves and deceits. As Nick bears witness, within and without the world he inhabits, he pens a tale of impossible love, incorruptible dreams and high-octane tragedy, and holds a mirror to our own modern times and struggles.
