Short tribute to the 900 year old cathedral ravaged by fire on the 15th of April 2019. Have a look at the cathedral as it was before the fire. The most important is the choir fence, wooden panels engraved between 1300 and 1350. These magnificent panels were made to separate the clergymen, monks and nuns in prayer, from the visitors, allowing them to pray in relative silence. The monumental choir fence has most probably been burned, if not has gone up in smoke. Thankfully the biggest stained glass rosaces have survived, but some smaller stained glass works have been destroyed. The Sainte Chapelle, is a splendor filled chapel, built as a Shrine for the king of France, his family and his employees, inside the fortified palace of the city, in Paris, during he 13th century. It is made famous by it's elevated walls, which are almost entirely composed of stained glass winows, each containing extensive stories. This is a short visit through the splendor of the light refraction of the Sainte-Chapelle, containing an explanation of it's significance.
