Starting a Fire with a Cotton Ball and Petroleum Jelly
I demonstrate how to start a fire with a cottonball and a dab of petroleum jelly with a spark from a flint striker. No matches necessary, and this will burn brighter and longer than any match. Perfect for getting tinder started.

Hike 02/14/2019 - Appalachian Trail off 641 Mechanicsburg
This is a hike I took on the Appalachian Trail off of Route 641 near Mechanicsburg, PA. There was a bit of snow creating wet, muddy conditions. It's an otherwise pleasant walk over nearly level fields and small patches of woods.
DISCLAIMER: Running away from, walking away from and wearing hats will not deter bears.

Hike - Beyond the Towers - Lambs Gap Road, Mountain Summit
This is a short hike I took starting at Lambs Gap Road on a mountain range summit near Mechanicsburg, PA. The trail head is a service road for transmission towers, which then turns into a dirt path. The area is on or near State Game Lands 170. After about a half a mile, I built a little campfire.

Hike - Fire Resurrection at White Rock Acres Mar. 23, 2019
This time I hiked 0.4 miles on the trail until I turned off to find a place for a campfire. I thought the fire was almost dead early on, but blowing on the embers brought it back to life stronger than before!

Bike Ride 2019-03-22 - First Handle-mounted Cam Run Apeman A70
This is the first bike ride I took with the Apeman A70 action camera mounted to the handle bars. It's a little shaky and noisy, but its wide-angle lens and 1080p resolution capture a great view straight ahead while riding.

Hike Appalachian Trail Mechanicsburg, Sherwood Dr - Mar 19, 2019
My first hike on this section of the Appalachian Trail near Mechanicsburg, PA at Sherwood Drive. It is a pleasant walk next to the Conodoguinet Creek. It was very boggy in the area, so it was not a good place at the time to set up a campfire. Hopefully it dries up after the rains are finished.

Hike - Mar 16, 2019 - White Rock Acres Campfire Again
Back at the campfire site at White Rock Acres. This time I built up the fire circle a little with a few more rocks. Shot in hi-def 4K with the Apeman Trawo A100 action camera.

Hideaway Fort
This is a highly camouflaged fort I found accidentally while bicycling. Whoever built it is extremely clever, as it is situated in a small patch of trees directly between a country road and a rural route. It's made of the surrounding wood and rock and cannot be seen without knowing it's there or catching a lucky glimpse at the structured pattern of the exterior log wall. Maybe it's used just to hang out or as a bug out shelter. Very strange.

Hike - Fire Failure & Rock Pile at White Rock Acres
This time at White Rock Acres, I had trouble getting the fire started, even though conditions were warm and dry - ideal for fire starting. My first attempt at sparking leaves failed, then even the petroleum cotton ball failed, leaving me to using a match to get it started. But I did built a nice rock cairn at the site.

Hike - The Skull - Appalachian Trail off Rt 641
I took this very short (1/3 mile) hike on April 9, 2019 on the Appalachian Trail off the south side of Route 641 near Mechanicsburg, PA. My knee was acting up so I couldn't go as far as I'd liked, but I did find a skull of curious origin near the trail.

Hike To The Top of the Mountain at White Rock Acres
On this hike I took on April 7, 2019, I hiked to the top of the mountain at White Rock Acres. It was a grueling hike due to a steep incline and a rocky path, and there were a lot of people on the trail that day, but it was worth it to reach the top with its tall outcroppings of rock and great view of the area below. Traveling a little further than where I stopped would bring you to the Appalachian Trail.
