Darkness scares a lot of people. Children are many times afraid of the dark. If you Google “darkness” you will pull up many images that are run the gamut from benignly spooky to down right evil and terrifying. Today I want to explore darkness and maybe shed a little light on the subject.

But I have noticed that sometimes when people experience new opportunities, they suffer a kind of myopia, their field of vision shrinks. And they experience a reduction in the broad vision that God gave them, they become near sighted. They begin to focus all their attention on themselves. But God has His own plans, visions and purposes. And He is looking for people who will say yes to Him. People who are not focusing on their own purposes, but on God’s purposes for them. And that’s why God speaks in the midst of these challenging situations for Moses. Who am I, who are you, what shall I say? Sometimes we fail to ask such questions because we are scared of the response we might get. Maybe we are afraid to pray for our enemy, because we have a hidden Jonah complex and we want justice now. We want God to smite them. Maybe we are afraid to ask God to bless others because we are afraid He might ask us to be the blessing or provide the blessings. Maybe we don’t want to ask for words to speak because even though we should speak, we don’t want to.
