Tour of an RV that's been abandoned since shortly after 9/11. Crazy!

As the title says it's just Ribs. I've got a system for BBQ ribs that involves Ray's Sauce, brown sugar ( I do usually use Dark Brown and not Light) along with some real orange juice cooked up on the stove to caramelize the sugars and get it thick enough to baste the ribs with. I start by brazing the ribs with rubbing seasoning and saving the sauce for later so it won't char. The family has enjoyed this for over 20 years and it's modeled after "The Spare Rib" in Long Island for the sauce. Not sure if they are still there but it's worth a search!! Loved their Steak and Rib selection with the salad that was basically a half iceberg lettuce head in a bowl....

With news the OPEC is cutting production and domestic production isn't going anywhere....it's time to fill up the RV during the "lull" in gas prices. Sad that $4/ gallon gas is cheap but there isn't much of a choice except stop driving....

Finally got around to installing a large LED back up light that will allow me to see when backing up the RV at night! Simple, inexpensive and adds to safety.

My job assignment wrapped up in early spring and I didn't want to chance towing my old BMW behind the Long Hauler 2. So, made one trip back home with the RV and booked a ticket to fly back and make another 6 hour trip back in the bimmer!

Finally getting around to putting in a new starter for the 454! After a few "hot, no starts" she started to have issues with konking out on the road and then not restarting. I did the hammer thing and also kept a can of carb cleaner spray to cool it down and eventually it would restart but not without my passengers getting pretty nervous! It's not a hard job and after I finished I said a quiet, "Wow, shoulda' dun this ages ago...."

Finally fixed my RV roof seam that was leaking for who-knows-how-long.

Hey there! The most abused part of an old RV, at least for road trips, are the bottoms of the RV (skirts) that take a lot of road salt, rain, dirt and all that. After 30+ years it's time to renovate this eyesore!

Got to get my old rig to pass the NYS inspection and who knows what I'll have to do to make sure I'm on the road and not get pulled over......

My effort to fix and upgrade my Onan Genset access door on the RV to reduce the sound level.

Finally got that 50 foot black walnut out of the yard, cleaned up the place a bit and decided to tackle the fire pit!

Wow! I filmed this with my daughter only to come back home this eve and see the Taliban doing the same thing!!! Totally surreal! How is it they get to keep their weapons on the cars?

While in Florida and having at least a few hours of no rainstorms.....we took the Lion Country Tour! Come on along while we drive around and watch knuckleheads nearly enrage rhinos....

OOH! There's nothing better than traveling in 90F+ heat from NY to FL!! Down the East Coast along Interstate 95. Let's visit a Lion Country Safari once we get there! All told, 3800 miles, 71 hours behind the wheel and we covered a LOT of ground on this trip! Come on along and join us!

Crazy storms coming through this year and I took time to step out after the rain to video the lightning and we also had lighting bugs aplenty that evening (and mosquitoes!!!). Enjoy!

Finally got the RV on the road after all the pandemic stuff to travel through the Adirondacks up to Ausable Chasm!

Heading out on the road to get the RV LP tank refilled and taking the Long Hauler 2 for another test drive. Found out my rear drum brakes are dragging a bit and I hope it's only an adjustment...

Working on my Allegro RV with corroding skirt panels and how to deal with them. Just trying to get my rig ready to travel once the restrictions are lifted. Hope to have everyone travelling safe, happy and healthy everyone out there!!

Finally decided to figure out the gas tank size and get back under the RV to refix (is that a word??) the rear shock mounts that popped off...again.

Chevy P30 chassis motorhome from the mid-'80's with a the rear hard brake line blown due to corrosion. Patched the line with flare fittings and NiCopp line. The proportioning valve activated so it's time to get under the rig to open up and reset the valve so I can bleed the brakes. Tight spots, awkward angles and some sore muscles from all the trips under the RV but finally got the old brake fluid (yuck!) out and new, fresh fluid in the lines!
