While out on a POTA activation the other day we were having trouble getting contacts. We were using the Chameleon CHA LEFS antenna. After a bit, we decided to try soemthing different in the configuration and see if that helped to improve RX and TX on the bands we were working that day. For future hams or new hams, at one point you will have to deal with SWR especially if you are making antennas and tuning antennas for use. I am going over what SWR is (by definition) and then giving you an example using one of my new antennas that we will tune live and try to get the SWR down as low as possible. In this lengthy video, I am building the end fed half wave antenna available from Adam K6ARK. This is the smallest antenna that I have ever seen much less built. It requires no feedline as it plug directly into your radio. The antenna can be used with HF bands from 160 m to 10 m depending on the length of wire you choose to use. It is a straight forward build but will require 100% of your attention to complete. You will need wire strippers, snips, a heat gun or something to install heat shrink and a soldering iron.
