Climate and Energy: The Case for Realism – The Climate Realism Show #105
On episode 105 of The Climate Realism Show, we talk to E. Calvin Beisner, co-editor (along with David Legates) of the new book “Climate and Energy: The Case For Realism.” The book combines outstanding climate science, physics, economics, environmental science, political science, ethics, and theology to present a well-reasoned understanding of human-induced climate change and how to respond to it. The authors of the chapters in this book, all experts in their respective fields, conclude for a wide range of issues related to climate and energy, that “attempted cures for climate change are generally worse than the disease—especially for the poor.”
Beisner will join host Jim Lakely, and The Heartland Institute’s usual climate crew of H. Sterling Burnett and Linnea Lueken, to talk about this book and also the Crazy Climate News of the Week. Join us LIVE at 1 p.m. ET (12 p.m. CT) for the kind of climate realism you can’t find anywhere else, and join the chat to get your questions answered, too.

Save the Whales, Kill the Turbines – The Climate Realism Show #104
On episode 104 of The Climate Realism Show, we explain that to save the whales we need to kill these growing large-scale offshore wind projects. These so-called “wind farms” are much larger and do much more environmental damage than most people realize. Covering an area the size of Connecticut and Rhode Island combined, one project off the Mid-Atlantic poses an existential risk to the critically endangered North Atlantic right whale. That is just one of many ocean mammals harassed and killed by these projects that will, at best, provide unreliable and expensive energy. Remember when “save the whales” was the cry of the environmentalists? Now they are fine with a spike in dead whales washing up on our Atlantic beaches as long as the “green energy” agenda continues apace.
The Heartland Institute is part of a lawsuit to stop to a major wind project in the Atlantic and save the right whale. We will talk about that effort with Craig Rucker and Terry Johnson of CFACT, who are also part of the suit. Join them and host Anthony Watts, H. Sterling Burnett, and Linnea Lueken to talk about that, plus the Crazy Climate News of the Week.
Join us LIVE at 1 p.m. ET (12 p.m. CT) for the kind of climate realism you can’t find anywhere else, and join the chat to get your questions answered, too.

Climate: The Movie - The Climate Realism Show #103
Climate Change Roundtable is now The Climate Realism Show. The same great climate news and analysis from The Heartland Institute's world-class climate and energy experts, but a snazzy new name that gets right to the heart of what it is about.
On episode 103 of The Climate Realism Show, we welcome Tom Nelson, producer of the new film "Climate: The Movie." The film exposes the climate alarm as an invented scare without any basis in science. It emphatically counters the claim that current temperatures and levels of atmospheric CO2 are unusually and worryingly high. In fact, we are currently in an ice age and there is no evidence that changing levels of CO2 (it has changed many times) has ever ‘driven’ climate change in the past.
The Heartland Institute’s Anthony Watts is host, H. Sterling Burnett and Linnea Lueken will break down the movie and it's impact with Nelson.

The CO2 Dilemma - Climate Change Roundtable #99
Climate change issues all center around increasing carbon dioxide (CO2) in Earth's atmosphere, however what is seldom mentioned by climate alarmists is the fact that CO2 can be both a benefit as well as a detriment. From the climate alarmism point of view CO2 is nothing but bad. But that's really not true.
On episode 99 of Climate Change Roundtable, The Heartland Institute’s Anthony Watts, H. Sterling Burnett, and Linnea Lueken Examine this issue as well as look at two new reports that have just been released:
1. A Climate Science Team Report on the Scientific Validity of EPA’S 2009 GHG Endangerment Finding - Climate- Science.press
2. Wyoming and Climate Change: CO2 Should Be Celebrated, Not Captured - CO2 Coalition

Mann vs. Steyn: A Disgrace to the Profession – Climate Change Roundtable #97
The Climate Trial of the Century is over, and the result is an absolutely travesty of justice. A D.C. jury ruled yesterday that Mark Steyn must pay $1 in compensatory damages and an absurd $1 million in punitive damages to climate media star Michael Mann for his claimed defamation. His co-defendant, Rand Simberg, was socked with paying $1 in compensatory damages, but only $1,000 in punitive damages.
We followed the trial every day for nearly four weeks, and we can tell you that it was a disgrace to the professions in our legal system, the “profession” of juries to administer justice, and the professions in alarmist climate science. In short, the whole thing was a disgrace.
On episode 97 of Climate Change Roundtable, The Heartland Institute’s Anthony Watts, H. Sterling Burnett, Linnea Lueken, and Jim Lakely break down what happened in the trial, how this criminally unjust jury decision came to be, and what this means for the First Amendment rights of anyone who questions alarmist dogma in public.
Join us LIVE at 1 p.m. ET (12 p.m. CT) to get caught up on the trial and join the chat to ask questions of your own.

Mann vs. Steyn: Climate Trial of the Century Week 3 - Guest: Ann McElhinney
In the third week of the defamation trial in which climate “hockey stick” inventor Michael Mann is suing Mark Steyn and Rand Simberg, Mann rested his case. And now the defense has begun to make its devastating case against the nasty serial litigator in the Climate Trial of the Century. The hockey stick itself is being broken into pieces in public.
On episode 96 of Climate Change Roundtable, special guest Ann McElhinney joins The Heartland Institute’s Anthony Watts, H. Sterling Burnett, Linnea Lueken, and Jim Lakely to break down the latest bombshell moments of the trial. We are sure to mention the devastating testimony on Thursday of renowned statistician Abraham Wyner who exposed Mann’s hockey stick to be the fraud Steyn and Simberg (and many others) say it is.
Join us LIVE at 1 p.m. ET (12 p.m. CT) to get caught up on the trial and join the chat to ask questions of your own.
Our panel delves into the claim by the COP28 President, who said there is ‘no science’ behind demands for the phase-out of fossil fuels and that doing so would take the world “back into caves.”
The episode also aims to debunk common climate change myths presented at COP28, focusing on a comprehensive understanding of the conference's implications and strategies. We will compare the fantasy of claims and goals with the reality of the hard data.
Plus, we’ll have Crazy Climate News of the week.

Climate Trial of the Century Continues - Mann vs. Steyn with Phelim McAleer
In the second week of the defamation trial, where serial litigator and special climate snowflake Michael Mann sued Mark Steyn and others for libel, the proceedings featured notable developments and surprising revelations. To discuss, Phelim McAleer, a filmmaker and journalist who is attending the trial in a federal court in Washington, DC, joins episode 95 of Climate Change Roundtable.
Thursday afternoon marked a significant moment in the trial, featuring Steyn cross-examining Mann. McAleer will share his observations with host Anthony Watts and panelists H. Sterling Burnett, Linnea Lueken, and Jim Lakely.
The lawsuit stems from 2012 when Mann accused Steyn and others of libel for ridiculing his "hockey stick" graph, a key element in climate change discussions. Steyn compared the cover-up of Mann’s shoddy science at his then-employer Penn State University to the way the school covered up the sexual abuse crimes conducted by disgraced football coach Jerry Sandusky. Penn State whitewashed the internal investigation.
In addition to discussing the trial, the episode will cover some of the crazy climate news of the week. We also urge you to seek out a new daily podcast produce by our guest, Phelim, and his wife Ann McIlhenny called “Climate Change on Trial,” where professional actors are reenacting the Mann trial.

Climate Trial of the Century: Mann vs Steyn
After 12 years of delays, the defamation lawsuit brought by climate scientist Michael Mann and writer Mark Steyn finally began this week. Mann sued Steyn and others in 2012 claiming they libeled him when they mocked his infamous “hockey stick” graph that has been the lynchpin of climate alarmism for decades. Steyn compared the cover-up of Mann’s shoddy science at his then-employer Penn State University to the way the school covered up the horrible sexual abuse crimes conducted by disgraced football coach Jerry Sandusky and then whitewashed an internal investigation.
Steyn, who gave one of the greatest keynotes ever at a Heartland climate conference about this case a while back (see below for a link), has been itching for this trial to finally happen since Obama was just starting his second term. It was Mann who employed one delaying tactic after another in an attempt to scare Steyn off.
Steyn never backs down from a fight, and is putting Mann’s hockey stick itself on trial. And, in a twist that will be either brilliant or disastrous, Steyn is acting as his own attorney in this civil suit.
In episode 94 of Climate Change Roundtable by The Heartland Institute, host Anthony Watts and panelists H. Sterling Burnett, Linnea Lueken, and Jim Lakely will get you caught up on the Climate Trial of the Century. After opening statements on Thursday, the jury trial in a DC court is expected to last as long as three weeks. This is the kind of coverage of this important trial you won’t find anywhere else.

Climate Change Killjoys - First, They Came for Your Appliances
In this new episode #93 of "Climate Change Roundtable," host Anthony Watts leads a thought-provoking discussion with Heartland experts H. Sterling Burnett, Linnea Leuken, and special guest Ben Lieberman, Competitive Enterprise Institute senior fellow specializing in environmental policy.
In 2023, the Biden administration launched an all-out war on home appliances. The appliance regulations are 'clearly being done as part of the climate agenda,' according to one energy expert.
The Alliance For Consumers, a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting consumer protection policies, issued an analysis in October showing that popular appliances like ceiling fans, gas stoves, dishwashers, water heaters and refrigerators will all increase in price in the coming years thanks in large part to these policies.
This past week, a federal appeals court struck down the regulatory actions targeting dishwashers as part of the Biden administration's aggressive climate and energy efficiency agenda.
And, like always, we’ll have Crazy Climate News of the week.

A Year of Climate Alarmism: Sliced, Diced, and Factually Impaled
In this new episode #92 of "Climate Change Roundtable," guest host Anthony Watts leads a thought-provoking discussion with Heartland experts H. Sterling Burnett and Linnea Lueken.
This past year has been an unrelenting one in terms of climate alarmism, yet when you look at what has actually happened compared to what was predicted, there's a wide gap between the hype and reality. From wildfires to record temperatures, when you examine the data, it isn't alarming at all. Plus, we'll touch on the failures of Net-Zero and wind power, both of which took big hits this year.

Climate Bullying: Scientists Behaving Badly
Welcome to episode #91 of "Climate Change Roundtable," where we challenge the status quo of climate science narratives. Hosted by Anthony Watts, this episode features expert panelist H. Sterling Burnett and guest Steve Milloy of junkscience.com.
This week, we had yet another shocking example of “scientists behaving badly” in the scientific peer review process. Today’s episode aims to shed light on how these incidents reflect broader problems in the field, starting with the postponement of the trial of the baddest actor of them all, Michael Mann, a central figure in climate science controversies.
It seems climate science hasn’t learned anything since ClimateGate in 2009.

Sultan Al Jaber vs Mary Robinson: A Climate Throw Down
Just as COP28, the UN's 2023 climate conference, was getting started, the conference host, Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber, got into a bit of an argument with former UN Climate Envoy Mary Robinson. Mrs. Robinson — who is about as elite as it gets in global climate circles —was obviously not used to being challenged on her assumptions that fossil fuel use must end if the world is to meet its climate goals.
In the exchange, an interview facilitated by an organization "She Changes Climate," Al Jaber said he is not interested in any climate "alarmism," but follows the science. It's saved here for posterity, since Al Jaber has since "walked back" his statements, even though everything he said about climate and fossil fuels and who needs to sacrifice to save the planet is spot on.

Hottest Summer Ever? NOT!
On Climate Change Roundtable, we take a stand against selective information portrayal, examining the contexts often omitted in mainstream climate discussions. This week, we’re covering the go-to media narrative parroted after every summer as well as discussing a surprising tweet from Michael Mann, creator of the discredited hockey stick chart.
Segment 1: The Hottest Summer: But at What Scale?
The media has been quick to dub this the 'hottest summer on record', but what does that truly mean in the vast timeline of Earth's climatic history? The referenced record composes the last 150 years, a misleading statement outright. And during this time, Earth is recovering from the Little Ice Age, further skewing the data. When you look at the Earth’s entire history, temperatures are well within norms. We discuss issues with the temperature record, misleading language, and highlight objective data.
Segment 2: Media Alarmism: An Unexpected Ally in Michael Mann
When figures like Michael Mann, known for the aforementioned hockey stick chart, begin to voice concerns about the media's alarmist take on climate change, it's an indicator that the discourse might be veering off course. We'll discuss his recent tweet that underscores the exaggerated stance of corporate media on climate-related issues.
So check out episode 84 of "Climate Change Roundtable," with host Anthony Watts, panelists H. Sterling Burnett and Jim Lakely, and special guest Marc Morano, founder of ClimateDepot.com. Tune in LIVE at Noon CT/1 PM ET this Friday for an insightful discussion.
And be sure to leave your questions during the show for the weekly question and answer segment. There’s always more questions than time, so leave us a Super Like and we guarantee yours is addressed.

This New Film Challenges the Climate Orthodoxy
Newsmax will soon air a prime time documentary titled "A Climate Conversation," produced with the help of The Heartland Institute. Scheduled for Sunday, October 15th at 8 PM Central Time, this documentary cuts through the alarmist rhetoric and propaganda to address straightforward scientific questions. The film serves as a vital tool for reaching individuals who are skeptical of the climate alarmist narrative but have not yet heard the counter argument. While it is persuasive, it remains neither confrontational nor exaggerated. The data is enough.
Narrated by Colorado radio personality Kim Monson, the documentary adopts a balanced and scientific approach challenging the man-made climate change and its perceived implications for life on Earth. Within, viewers will recognize familiar faces, as well as long-time Heartland advisers and collaborators.
In episode 83 of "Climate Change Roundtable," we will review the film with the producers and narrator. Our regular panel, consisting of Sterling Burnett, Linnea Lueken, and host Anthony Watts, will also join in the discussion.
Tune in LIVE to "Climate Change Roundtable" at Noon CT/1 PM ET this Friday for an insightful film review. We encourage viewers to submit their questions, which may be addressed live during the broadcast. Join us to share your opinions and partake in the conversation!
