Twitter has behaved as a bully toward me and other dissenting voices it has sought to silence with no explanation of its actions other than vague charges of “misinformation,” while giving a free pass to people who tweet out patently disingenuous and misleading Tweets, so long as they reinforce the dominant, Twitter-approved narrative. But we will not be silenced. And you know why? Because we are not in this for money, or prestige, or social acceptance. We speak out against this monstrous experiment in social engineering because we care about the health and well-being of our communities, the success of our health system, the integrity of science, the liberties that governments across the world are trampling on, and the future of free and open societies. One of the cheapest stunts you can pull in an argument is to side-step the issue at hand and instead cast aspersions on the character, integrity, or competence of your adversary. If someone is constantly vilifying the character or credentials of someone they disagree with, this is a sure sign that they either cannot, or do not want to engage in any substantive, evidence-based argument.

To think ideologically is to be uncritically committed to some worldview and to defend it to the hilt, even if this means discounting, ignoring, or falsifying evidence, or tripping yourself up in contradictions. To think philosophically is to think with one's eyes open to reality, to be willing to adjust one's beliefs in light of new evidence. The narrative of the "sovereign people" - the idea that "the people" somehow confer their collective power and authority on a central government to rule on their behalf - is a harmful ideological construct that serves to legitimate fundamentally oligarchic structures of power and to disempower communities, whose governmental authority is subordinated to the prerogatives of a national government. I would like to send a message to Twitter about the recent suspension of my account, @davidjthunder. Twitter's conception of content moderation is essentially despotic: anything they disagree with can be censored at will, with zero transparency & zero accountability.

The constant mantra of public authorities is that Covid cases are rising and hospitals are filling up because of the recalcitrant hold-outs who refuse to be vaccinated.
