The Z finally gets a catback exhaust
The last thing the Z needed to actually be enjoyable to drive was an exhaust system. At some point, someone smashed the T-top, stole the sound system, and cut the cat off this poor Z. The straight pipe sound under the car resonated so bad it was legitimately undrivable. Now that the car is more reliable than ever and looks pretty damn good too, the exhaust was holding me back from driving it more. It was starting to get pretty cold but I fabbed up a quick exhaust with a random 2.5" muffler I had laying around and some piping from the local auto parts store. It turned out to be a solid setup, the car sounds deep and performancey but also pretty quiet. Now we will see how she does with daily driver status this winter in Hellinois.

Sunset Z
If you didn't make it to the end of the "We painted the Z" video, then you missed out on this little payoff I put together. I bought this 1985 Nissan 300ZX Turbo for $1200, after putting about another $2500 or so into it... this is how it turned out. It's still missing a cat-back exhaust but lets ignore that for now LOL

The 300ZX Z31 gets a fresh paint job and looks AMAZING!
The "quick and easy" Z31 project I picked up a few months back quickly spiraled into a nightmare of chasing a million small issues along with some major tune up jobs. All of that is a distant memory now after seeing how it sits today. It's still a rusty crusty 37 year old car... but now when I park the Z, I look back and see this fantastic page of 80s car history in all its glory. Then I unlock the doors with a key fob and jam to Gunship via Bluetooth hitting 7 furious pounds of boost all the way home.

Z31 300ZX digital dash LED bulb upgrade
I must have been pretty burnt out because I just realized I repeated myself like 3 times in this video LOL! Today I tackled upgrading all the burnt out bulbs in the digital dash, compass, G-force gauges, and climate controls. It looks so insane! I also proceeded to fry my new keyless entry box too, womp womp. The interior of the Z starts to go back together with some quick reupholstered door panels and we start to do the final reassembly. I'm so pumped on how the car is turning out! These babies just need some TLC and they come right back to life!

The 300ZX Z31 gets keyless entry, a stereo, and its fuel gauge power supply repaired!
After we took 3 weeks off we are back in the garage with the 1985 Nissan 300ZX Turbo making some simple improvements that make old cars like this WAY more useable IRL. First up we add a door lock actuator and keyless entry kit. Next up we tackle the fuel level power source as it had a bad connection in the connector. Then I pretty much had to wire up a new head unit from scratch! I ran new speaker wires to all four corners and even had to grab power from the fuse box!
Knowing how much gas you have, having some tunes, and easily locking the car when parked turn an old 80's car from a pain into a more useable functional car! Which means you can drive and enjoy them even more!

Bittersweet Halloween fun in our 2009 Honda Fit GE8
I can't resist getting some cool shots in our local graveyard during October... or the rest of the year for that matter. We have been looking to free up some cash for some new projects so we have been kicking around the idea of selling our 2009 Honda Fit GE8. I have owned this car 4 times longer than any other car I have owned, it's either sell it now or k swap it later!

Tons of work done on the 300ZX, drives so much better!
Finally got a legitimate test drive out of the Z! I had never done a FULL PULL in it till this video and it is finally running great! Thanks to fresh ball joints, inner and outer tie rod ends, pads and rotors front and back, timing belt, water pump, thermostat, plugs, wires, a battery, and a little love she is running better than ever!
There is still a few gremlins to figure out, and a bunch of work left to do, subscribe to help us build the channel so we can keep bringing garbage cars back from the dead!
Thanks for watching!

New spark plugs, wires, and we finally make some BOOST in the Z31 300ZX Turbo!
Thanks for checking out my 1985 300ZX Turbo, if you liked the video consider subscribing to the channel too! Let's blow up rumble with some good car content!
With the Z misfiring under boost conditions there was obviously something wrong, I had the tune up parts already so I decided to throw some spark plugs and wires at it to see if that helped at all. I actually tracked down a torn hose on the charge pipe from the turbo to the throttle body. After that was done I was FINALLY able to get the Z out around the neighborhood and feel some boost building.
It also exposed just how terribly it drives down the road, but we will tackle that in the next episode!

First drive in the Z31 300ZX Turbo but can't get into BOOST
I have been waiting to drive my 1985 Nissan 300ZX Turbo! I finally get some fresh bucket seats bolted in along with some better tires for the front. And the last piece of the puzzle was a broken intake boot on the throttle body.
I have learned a bunch more about the car, it needs ball joints, tie rod ends, brake pads/rotors, and misfires under boost...
Tune up is next!

The Z31 300ZX gets its first wash in years. The engine bay was NASTY!
The Z seemed to be the victim of having its T-Top smashed and stereo stolen at some point. Then worse than that, it was left outside for enough time to get plenty of water damage on the seats and carpeting. A quick wash and a ton of scrubbing later and the carpet looks marginally better...

We get the 300ZX running with a new hatch struts... I mean fuel pump.
After I got a round of parts ordered and delivered I can finally dig into this 1985 Nissan 300ZX TURBO (Z31). I started by getting immediately annoyed by the blown hatch and hood struts, so I got those installed in an easy few hours of fighting, cutting, and welding. After that I was able to get the car squeezed into the garage where we threw a new fuel pump on it, flush the fuel lines and get it fired up for the first time with its own fuel system.

Bathroom and Laundry room remodel (Part 3) Finally Finished!
This project took us about 3 months of working on and off but the payoff is INSANE. These were the WORST 2 rooms in the house and now we can't even bring ourselves to putting the litter boxes back in there! Still one more bathroom to go...

I bought a super cheap 1985 Nissan 300ZX Turbo Z31
The used car market has been insanely overpriced lately so when I saw this cheap 300ZX Turbo on Facebook I decided to jump on it! It was kind of last minute so I didn't pack any tools which ended up complicating things when the tire IMMEDIATELY blew out! It turned into quite a Roadkill style adventure.

Our Bathroom gets new lighting, drywall, and paint!
Wow, I can't tell you how much work this bathroom was to finish! In this episode I cut out hours of footage to trim it down to only FORTY FIVE minutes, and I still had to break it into ANOTHER video! So enjoy part TWO of our bathroom and laundry room remodel! We tackle the electric and lighting, start some plumbing, prepped the floors, fix all the walls, and get the room painted!

Fixing broken exhaust bolts on my Chevy 5.3 LM7
I needed an excuse to flip these manifolds for some motivation on the C3 Corvette. So why not get in there and fix those old broken exhaust manifold bolts! It's a simple trick to get these old bolts out if you have enough threads showing, I never tried it before because it seems impossible to get such a rusty stuck bolt out with a pair of Vice grips, but it totally works!
I can't wait to get the body back on soon so I can work on turbo placement!

We tear out the old bathroom and laundry room of our CHEAP OLD HOUSE!
Every remodel starts with tearing out the old garbage. This is very accurate when it comes to this TERRIBLE old bathroom and laundry room space. This was easily the biggest project we have tackled in our cheap old house to date! But the payoff of having two functional beautiful bathrooms will be SO sweet.

Corvette C3 5.3 LS swap oil pan clearance issues fixed!
If you are planning to LS swap your C3 Corvette, this is probably the cheapest oil pan setup you will find. The 5.3 truck pan is WAY too deep, it hangs like 6 inches under the frame crossmember and hits the factory steering parts. Swapping to this F-body pan gives us TONS more ground clearance and it now easily clears the factory steering arms.
It will still bind up against the factory ram for the power steering. For now I will be running manual steering till I can get this thing running. If I figure out how to run the ram later I will update with the info. I hear this setup will work perfect with most Rack and Pinion conversions too!

Corvette C3 Frame gets a Chevy 5.3 LM7 bolted to a CD009 Nissan Transmission!
We gather here today to join Engine and Transmission.
I learned that you could bolt Nissan 6 speeds to ls engines and after hearing a friend talk about it for weeks I picked one up. I bought this one way before this project snow balled into essentially a full rebuild. They are supposedly good for about a 1000hp, they are cheaper than T-56's, and if you have ever driven a 350Z they shift REALLY good!
Queue the G Force LS Z33 Adapter kit. I decided on this one because it seemed to be the most well thought out and designed kit. Other kits require cutting off the bellhousing from the trans and bolting a new one on with the oil pump bolts, and also usually require using a specialty clutch with a blend of components from Chevy and Nissan to work. The G Force kit includes a monster flywheel to fill the space between the engine and trans so using a factory style Nissan clutch is a huge advantage. I chose a stage 3 single disc from Advanced Clutch Technology to handle my 600ish horsepower goal.
I was able to mount the drivetrain on the frame and then I had to pack the car up for storage, I temporarily ratchet strapped the body to the frame and put the car in storage while we were between houses. Next step will be to get the WTF:Performance Garage unpacked and set up so we can get this thing running!

We need a GYM!
We have had many gym memberships in the past and many variations of "home gyms" too. This extra bedroom just happens to have a super sturdy floor and used to house heavy machines, so it's the perfect spot for a small home gym. We already had the equipment we just needed a great place to put it, and the nicer the place the more you will want to spend time in it!
I installed a TON of track lighting, painted the walls bright clean white and threw down some gym mats over the fresh flooring. We use a half rack, a set of dumbbells, a couple adjustable benches, and a treadmill to get all our basic workouts in.

GPSTrackTime Track Day at Blackhawk Farms Raceway 06/05/22
I am super motivated to attend more car events this summer and my excuse is to make videos like this! This is a track day put on by GPSTracktime.com, this one is at Blackhawk Farms Raceway in South Beloit, IL. I was able to tag along with Mitch and Rich from Avant Speed out of Schaumburg Illinois while they tested out a pair of Miata's.
Everyone was insanely nice. The event was VERY friendly to new racers with ZERO experience and had an advanced group full of instructors too! If you have any questions about the event or want to know more check out GPSTracktimes.com.
If you are looking for a shop for your race car reach out to Mitch Hoel or Rich DeHaan at Avant Speed in Schaumburg.
