Adams: “Those small numbers that are committing crimes, we need to modify the sanctuary city law that if you commit a felony or violent act, we should be able to turn you over to ICE and have you deported. It is a right to live in this city, and you should be not committing crime in our city if doing so. Right now, we don’t have the authority to do so.”

REID: “the United States has a population of north of 327 million people. Why do we need more kids? I mean, your party, Senator Tuberville, is the one screaming that 10 million immigrants, which I don’t even know that that number even makes any sense because it doesn’t, have streamed into the country since Joe Biden has been president, and you’re claiming that that’s too many people, that if more people come into the southern border, this is some sort of crisis, because we — we got too many people, and we’ve gotten no more space, and we can’t afford more people. But now you’re saying we need more kids? Can you explain who’s the we and what’s the purpose? You’re also a senator from the state of Alabama, God help the people there. Are you saying the state of Alabama needs more kids? Why does the state of Alabama need more kids? More kids for what? There was a time when the state of Alabama absolutely needed more kids because, you know, Alabama was a slave state and the mandate of the planter class in Alabama was for black women to produce more kids because those kids were property, and they could work more kids and make more money on their plantations. Are you saying the state of Alabama needs more kids because you think that those populations will include people who are maybe destitute and desperate enough if you kick out the immigrants, like a lot of you all want to do, and you could make them do the work that the migrants are doing now? Does that kind of sound slavery-ish? Is the state of Alabama the we? And is that the why? I mean, you also a white guy. Are you saying the we is white folks need more kids? Is this like a great replacement thing where you’re concerned that there’s not enough white people in the population versus the growth of the Latino population and the black population and the Asian American population, and so the we is white people need to make white women have more kids, and that’s the we, and that’s the why? Because it’s a little creepy. Little Handmaid’s Tale, don’t you think?”

Biden: “Earlier in my term, I announced the major plan to provide millions of working families with debt relief for their college student debt. Tens of millions of people in debt were literally about to be cancelled, their debts, but my MAGA Republican friends in the Congress, elected officials and special interests stepped in and sued us. And the Supreme Court blocked it. They blocked it. But that didn’t stop me. I announced we were going to pursue alternative paths for student debt relief for as many borrowers as possible. And that’s the effort that’s been underway the last two years. The economy is growing, it’s growing. Jobs, income, across the board. We have the most advanced economy of any major nation in the world. We have a lot more to do, but with the help of all of you college graduates who have gotten paid off your student loans now, I’m confident we’re going to get it all done. Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you. Appreciate it." (applause)

COATES: “Because there are probably a lot who are saying to themselves, ‘I‘ve never falsified my business records. I know what a square foot looks like. I know what I can ask for and what I have the money to support.’ So I wonder to what extent that really is true. But on the second point, wouldn‘t there be many companies who would not want to do business or loan money to people like yourself for investors if they know that they can get away with fraud and there‘s no recourse to protect them?” O’LEARY: “Excuse me, what fraud? This is not about Trump anymore. When you get a developer — when you get a developer that builds a building and he says it‘s worth $400 million and he wants to borrow $200 million from a bank, which happens every day everywhere on earth, including every American city, every developers and entrepreneur, they shine the light on their building and they say it‘s worth 400. The bank does its own due diligence, as was done in this case, because they‘re very good at it, at the banks are very good, and they say, ‘No, it‘s worth 300. We’re only going to loan you 150 million. That haggling has gone on for decades. That‘s how it works. And then in this case, even, the bank that was supposedly defrauded testified and said, ‘We didn‘t lose anything. We want to do business with this guy again. We‘d like to.’ But the judge said, ‘No, no, no, no, no, no. Let‘s penalize this developer for 355 million.’ And if we‘re going to do that, let‘s penalize all the developers all across America. They‘ve all done the same thing. All of them should go to jail and we should stop building buildings. That‘s what the message is from New York. Even the governor herself is concerned about what this looks like to investors all around the world. It‘s not just U.S. domestic. All around the world people are talking about what happened here. You really think people want to invest money in New York after this?

MANCHIN: "I came to the conclusion that after I saw what happened, what, 10 days ago or so, when the vote for — on the Senate, for security of the border, a secured vote in the border, which is what our Republican colleagues desired to happen, they pressed that, and they said, ‘We’re not going to vote on any aid until we’ve secured our border.’ I agreed with them. I think President Biden has been wrong on the border. He — it’s his — it’s his responsibility, no matter what his reasoning was, to maybe help people around the world who’ve been displaced by the pandemic, but he’s come to the table now. He understands the gravity of what we’re dealing with, and the danger. And he’s willing to accept any help — negotiate a very good bill that secures the border. MANCHIN: "I’ve had this conversation with him, and with his people, that he’s gone too far to the left. They’ve pushed him and pulled him and whatever, but that’s not where America is. That’s not where our country is. So, I’m hoping the Joe Biden that we saw in 2020 will be the Joe Biden we see in 2024, if that can be done. If not, it’s going to be a long road for everybody.” COLLINS: “Are you going to endorse President Biden?” Manchin: “I’m not endorsing anybody right now. We’re going to see what all happens. We still got plenty of time here. I’m going to do everything I can to help move them back to the middle and show them where the strength of this country lies, where the voting bloc of the country lies. And the extremes are going to be there no matter what, and I respect that, and I will do everything I can to make sure they have the ability to voice their opinion. But the minority — the minority does not rule the day. The minority — “ COLLINS: “What does it say that you’re not endorsing President Biden? What should people read into that?” Manchin: “No, no. I’m just — I’m trying to do everything I can to make sure that we have a pathway forward, where the center of this country is going to be represented, and that’s the center-left and center-right. That’s where the decisions, that’s where people live their lives. That’s the type of government they want. They don’t want the extremes. And what we’re seeing is extremes. Donald Trump is an extremist. And with that, there’s people that are going in that direction. I still believe there’s enough good Republicans and Democrats that want this centrist type of approach to governing.”

Tlaib: “It is also important to create a voting bloc, something that is a bullhorn to say, ‘Enough is enough. We don’t want a country that supports wars and bombs and destruction. If you want us to be louder, then come here and vote ‘uncommitted.’” [Clip ends] COLLINS: “What do you make of that?” Simmons: “You know, it’s a mixed bag. I was on the phone with a couple of folks from Detroit in the last day or two, which is where I‘m from. One person, who I was surprised that he thought about voting uncommitted because he really was concerned about what‘s happening in Gaza, but then I also talked to someone, and I found out, because I’m going to say this here for the first time, I think that Congresswoman Tlaib is going to get a primary challenge. I‘m hearing very strong rumblings and it may be from a gentleman from Detroit — I can’t say the name yet, but I do think she’d make it a primary challenge almost because of how stridently she‘s been doing this. So, people are all over the map, it’s dividing Democratic communities. And I think the president is going to have to go in hard and really knit people back together.” COLLINS: “Well, that‘s interesting."

Chicago Ray: “Hey, folks, it’s your old pal, Chicago Ray. I’ve been out on the radio talking to drivers for about the last hour, hour and 15 minutes, and I’ve talked to over at least 10 drivers going the other way — I’m heading down from south Wisconsin — and they’re gonna start refusing loads in New York City starting on Monday, all right? I got about three drivers that I drive with, they already fight with the boss, told him they ain’t going to New York City. So, I don’t know how far across the country this is or how many truckers are gonna start denying loads going to New York City, but I’ll tell you what"

Biden: “Every world leader here as a member of NATO that spoke today, and most of them mentioned it, thanked me for meeting with Putin now. Every single one that spoke. And I think there were probably about 10 or 12 that spoke to it, saying they were happy that I did that, that I was going to do that. And they thought it was thoroughly appropriate that I do, and I had discussions with them about — in the open about what they thought was important from their perspective and what they thought was not important. And so the interesting thing is, I know — and I’m not being critical of the press, I really mean this, give you my word. But generically you all thought, was Biden meeting him too soon? I haven’t found a world leader who doesn’t think it’s not soon — it’s just soon enough. Everyone that I’ve spoken to, privately and publicly. It doesn’t mean there aren’t some out there, but it’s not likely that a head of state is going to stand up in front of 29 other heads of state and say, boy, I’m glad you’re doing this, in effect. So there is a consensus. And they thanked me for being willing to talk with them about the meeting and what I was — what I intended to do. So I haven’t found any reluctance. There may be someone, but not in open today or in the meetings I had privately as well. And Navalny’s death would be another indication that Russia has little or no intention abiding by basic fundamental human rights. It would be a tragedy. It would do nothing but hurt his relationships with the rest of the world, in my view, and with me.” LEMIRE: “Mr. President, just a quick follow-up on the same theme of consequences. You said just now that you spoke to him a lot about human rights. Why did you say would happen if opposition leader Alexei Navalny dies?” Biden: “I made it clear to him that I believe the consequences of that would be devastating for Russia. I’ll go back to the same point. What do you think happens when he is saying it is not about hurting Navalny, all the stuff he says to rationalize the treatment of Navalny, and then he dies in prison? I pointed out to him that it matters a great deal when a country, in fact — and they asked me why I thought it was important to continue to have problems with the president of Syria. I said because it’s violation of international norm, it’s called Chemical Weapons Treaty. Can’t be trusted. It is about trust. It is about their ability to influence other nations in a positive way.”

Schumer: “I talk to President Biden, you know, regularly. Or sometimes several times in a week, usually several times in a week. His mental acuity is great. It’s fine, it’s as good as it’s been over the years. I’ve been speaking to him for 30 years, since we worked on the Brady Bill and the assault weapons ban when I was a young congressman. And he’s — he’s fine. All this right-wing propaganda that his mental acuity has declined is wrong. He’s going to win the election because he has a great record, because more and more Americans are seeing that record.”

KIRBY: “As I said, we have seen them take actions — sometimes actions that — that even I’m not sure our own military would take, in terms of informing civilian populations ahead of operations where to go, where not to go. They have taken steps. Now, obviously, those steps, while noteworthy, haven’t been enough to reduce the civilian casualties, which is why the president spoke so forthrightly about it yesterday and why we’re going to continue to do everything we can to press the Israelis to be more careful.”

MAYORKAS: “It certainly is a crisis, and, well, we don’t bear responsibility for a broken system, and we’re doing a tremendous amount within that broken system. But, fundamentally, fundamentally, Congress is the only one who can fix that. A few things about Remain in Mexico. First of all, it depends upon Mexico’s agreement. And Mexico has articulated publicly that it will not allow the re-implementation of Remain in Mexico, number one. Number two, it’s been challenged in the courts. And number three, remember something, that Remain in Mexico was implemented in January of 2019. In 2019, there was almost a 100% increase in the number of encounters at our southwest border over 2018.”

YELLEN: "We don't have to get the prices down because wages are going up. And a metric that is worth knowing is that the median American house worker –" KENNEDY: "We need to get these prices down? Chicken is up 23.5% coffee is up 30%, gasoline is up 44% and new cars and trucks are up 20%, because people – that is used cars! People cannot afford a new car they're up 24% under Bidenomics and you don’t think we need to get these prices down?" YELLEN: Wages are also up. KENNEDY: They're not up 24%. They're not up 27%. Not up 23. Not up 31.

GROSS: “Yes, everyone, the rumors are true. I am anti-Israel. I am pro-Palestine. And I am 100 percent 10 toes down anti-Israel. I believe Israel has no right to exist. I believe the United States has no right to exist. I believe every settler colony who has committed genocide against native peoples, against indigenous people has no right to exist. I believe in a free Palestine from the river to the sea. I believe one day Palestine will be free. Is this news to anybody? White supremacy destroys for the sake of destruction. Abolition destroys for the sake of creation. We are not the same. I have an unwavering respect for children and unwavering love and care and compassion for children, a commitment to children and to their freedom, to their learning, to their lives, to sustaining their lives. But y’all are the demons. Y’all are the villains. We’ve been trying to end y’all. Get free of y’all.”

HOCHUL: “You don’t touch our police officers. You don’t touch anybody.” [Clip ends] HILL: “I mean, we’re hearing a change when it comes to immigration in general from President Biden on down, to hear her talk about that. It is also directly related to the fact that these were police officers. Does that have any impact? Does that change anything?” MILLER: “Well, it’s so complicated because you’re a New Yorker. You move through the city every day as I do. We see these people. We touch these people. They’re out looking for work. They’re delivering our food. They’re at the gas stations and the car Wash. I mean, these are people who came in waves, 170,000, probably to New York City. But within that group, these hard-working throngs of people in search of hope and a better life, there is this one-percenter criminal element that looks at a different opportunity here. These individuals, I went over their rap sheets yesterday, multiple charges, grand larceny, robbery, attempted robbery, grand larceny, grand larceny. This particular crew operated on mopeds and scooters. They were doing organized retail theft. They were doing snatches on the street, iPhones, iPads, clothing, so on and so forth. One of them that they are still seeking has 10 charges on one day because he’s part of a pattern that’s been going on. And I’m looking at the dates that their arrest started, which is probably close to when they got here. They’ve only been here a couple of months. So, what the detectives are telling me is they have crews here that operate in New York, do all their stealing, then go to Florida to spend the money and then come back. And I’m like, well, why don’t they just stay and steal in Florida? And they said, because there, you go to jail.” MATTINGLY: “Great reporting. Keep us posted on this.”

VOTER 1: “I’m trying to grow my business. Therefore, the Biden — I haven’t seen Biden really care about business like that. And my concern is having my business so that I can build generational wealth so my kids can see and have something to take upon with. I’m not here.” Lee: “You’re hearing that too, that there’s some people in your orbit who are either voting for Donald Trump or considering it?” GIVENS: “For sure. A lot of my friends are — obviously, so we’re a little younger. We only voted once, you know, for our president, and Trump is kind of all we know, and they’re kind of — Trump and Biden — they’re like, ‘Well, we were broke with Biden, we weren’t with Trump.’ And that’s kind of the only thing that I’m hearing and over and over again, over and over again, is that with Trump we had money.”

Austin: “But in my first week back in the Pentagon, I did want to address my recent hospital stay and some of the issues around it. I’m recovering well, but as you can see, I’m still recovering, still having some leg pain and doing physical therapy to get past it. I’m deeply grateful to my doctors and the nursing staff at Walter Reed. And I very much appreciate all the good wishes. But I want to be crystal clear, we did not handle this right, I did not handle this right. I should have told the president about my cancer diagnosis. I should have also told my team and the American public, and I take full responsibility. I apologize to my teammates and to the American people. Now, I want to make it very clear that there were no gaps in authorities and no risk to the department’s command and control. At every moment, either I or the deputy secretary was in full charge. And we’ve already put in place some new procedures to make sure that any lapses in notification don’t happen. In the future if the deputy secretary needs to temporarily assume the office the — the duties of my office, she and several White House offices will be immediately notified, including the White House Situation Room, so will key officials across the department. And the reason for that assumption of duties will be included in writing. Now, I want you all to know that — to know why this happened. I was being treated for prostate cancer — the news shook me, and I know that it shakes so many others, especially in the black community. It was a gut punch. And frankly, my first instinct was to keep it private. I don’t think it’s news that I’m a pretty private guy, I never like to burdening others with my problems. It’s just not my way. But I’ve learned from this experience. So taking this kind of job means losing some of the privacy that most of us expect. The American people have a right to know if their leaders are facing health challenges that might affect their ability to perform their duties, even temporarily. So a wider circle should have been notified, especially the president.”

HOCHUL: “Get them all and send them back. You don’t touch our police officers. You don’t touch anybody. Thank you, everybody.”
