We have been making some important discoveries in our Cancel Culture series as we have seen how what some have called culture really is a cult. The Cancel Cult of Culture tries to silence and destroy anything and everything they do not like. It can be scary but if we follow Jesus we realize that we just can’t live that way. The call of Jesus is to rise above the cancel cult of culture and discover no matter how loudly the culture screams, no matter what the culture says, and no matter how hard the culture works to cancel you – Jesus has something else to say and what He says is the only thing that matters. Get ready to wrap up this series with one more look deep into the culture we live in and see how to navigate it in a way that honors Him.

In our Cancel Culture series we have seen that what people call “cancel culture” has nothing to do with culture at all – instead it is a cult. So as the Cult of Cancel Culture runs amok in our world, how do we as people who want to touch and change the world with the love of Jesus react? In this session, we go back and discover a man how had made so many mistakes that he could have been canceled – but Jesus refused to do it. Instead of canceling him, Jesus gave us a model of how we should respond to others when they have made mistakes, messed up, and managed to damage their lives with the choices they have made. It is time to Cancel the Cancel Culture.

Happy Easter! This day is a day where we celebrate the resurrection of Jesus. In spite of the best efforts of the culture to cancel Jesus, they did not. Not only did they fail to cancel Him the most amazing thing happened, Jesus accomplished something incredible on that first Easter morning. He canceled the very things that culture fears the most. This morning, we revisit the day that a dead man stopped being dead, and His life changes everything. This is a Cancel Culture Easter celebration at The Church @ 434 – we are so glad you are here and a part of it!

Cancel Culture is a phrase that describes something happening in the world around us. When something is canceled, it is nulled, ended, voided, done, over, no longer wanted … you get the idea… But today that same idea is also applied to people, that sense of cancel is the basic idea behind the slang meaning of canceling a person. When a person is canceled, they are no longer supported, valued, or considered to exist. Usually if someone is said to be canceled is because they have done something to offend someone else or taken a position that is not popular with the mainstream of thought. It might surprise you to find that although the phrase seems fresh, the idea of cancel culture is not new. As a matter of fact, it has been happening for thousands of years. As we move into the Easter season, we begin this series with a look back in time where the things we discover impact our lives here and now. The first century culture did their best to cancel Jesus. It didn’t’ work then, it doesn’t work now, and that is great news for each

The session continues the look at the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas in the Middle East. Jeff criticizes the response of some individuals and organizations, including the U.S. government, for what they perceive as a lack of understanding of the true nature of the conflict and that the current events align with biblical prophecies about the end times and expresses concern about rising anti-Semitism and a perceived delusion in society.

We all know what an elephant in the room is…it is a truth, that everyone notices, but no one wants to talk about! This series has taken us on a tour of some pachyderms and allowed us to talk about them and deal with them using Biblical truth. The series comes to an end today with one more elephant – you know it, you have seen it, it is the irresistible impossible elephant. It is that elephant that is so enormous that you know whatever you are trying to do is going to be …. Impossible. Yet, just like every other elephant we have looked at, we can discover that God has a way and a plan for us to tackle the impossible things in our lives.

You…that’s right you…are created in the image of God. The image of God is who we are as human beings – it is our most basic, original calling… sadly, we live in a culture that seems intent on destroying and undercutting this basic foundational truth about life itself. As a result, followers of Jesus and the church sometimes get caught not knowing what to say, how to respond, and how to share love in a world where creation seems up for grabs. As a result, people of faith – are made to feel like they are somehow less reasonable, rational, and sane. Our genius series today concludes. Along the way we have learned that the genius of Jesus is amazingly transferable. Each of us can tap into the genius that we were created with. Our study has taken us through how we think, how we live our lives, how to discover power, and how to live with goodness – all of these built upon the Genius of Jesus. In our final installment we are forced to answer the question – can we handle the truth? To get there, we look at the most famous conversation about truth that ever took place and we discover – the Genius of Truth

We are exploring how we ignite our minds and hearts as we step into being the genius we were created to be. In this session we find out that Jesus does not simply teach us to see the difference between good and evil – but Jesus teaches us to choose between the right and the good – and that is genius!

Genius is the name of the series. We have seen the way a genius thinks and we have seen some specific areas that genius must work in. Now, we discover that Jesus – as only a genius could – saw power as no one had ever imagined it…He reminded us with power comes great responsibility. If we are going to become like Him and allow His genius to be unleashed in us, then we have to understand as He explains the genius of power (and the cost)- today we will see how much power a genius can have.

The series is called Genius and we are daring to ask the question “is there a genius waiting in each of us to be untapped?” It was Albert Einstein who once said, “You have to color outside the lines once in a while if you want to make your life a masterpiece” – now we all know Al was a pretty smart guy. But in our opening session we found out who the greatest genius ever really was…and today… we will take the next step forward in seeing how lives can become better and brighter is we are willing to embrace who God has created us to be!

Way to go Genius! Has anyone ever said that to you? They probably didn’t mean it as a compliment, but perhaps in hindsight they should have. If you have ever felt that there was within you untapped potential, latent talent, and even hidden genius somewhere inside of you – this is your day, your study, and your series! As a nation mourned with shock and grief, we discovered that as only God can do, something amazing emerged from the tragedy. As a nation we have promised we would never forget.
