The Must Sees of Vladivostok, Russia’s big city in the very Far East
We often forget that Russia stretches really far east. There is plenty of land way out there that borders China and North Korea and it is about darn time that we filmed a video about it to show to you!
Vladivostok looks really different from the rest of the country and a lot newer. There doesn't seem to be much Soviet stuff here and looks more like San Francisco than Moscow. The weather is very warm and sunny and there are big bridges uniting the city. Also it seems like every street is at a 45 degree angle which means you will shed some calories for sure if you go on a long walk!
There is plenty of seafood to be eaten all around the city at prices and quality levels vastly superior to Moscow. All in all, Vladivostok is a Russian experience that you’d never expect!

Call of faith: The story of American Orthodox Christian priest that moved to Russia
Father Joseph Gleason made the choice to put his faith above today's secular ideas and left America to raise his children in Russia, which he feels offers one of the last few bastions of Christianity on the planet. Just 30 years ago Russia had official state atheism, now the national "enigma wrapped in a mystery" is arguably the most religious nation in Europe. Did Father Gleason make the right choice and what was it like bringing 8 kids and a wife to a country where not one person spoke the native language?

Dagestan. An unusual place for unique vacation in Russia | Russia Travel
Let my Dagestani adventure begin! In this video travel guide, I will show you all the places to visit in Dagestan that you must see. In Russia, this Republic is famous for its mountain views, diverse inhabitants and massive portion sizes. I started by Dagestan travel in the capital city of Makhachkala from whence I drove to the unique and mysterious Sarykum Dune.
After climbing all the way to the top and catching my breath I made my way over very bumpy roads to the Sulaksky Canyon which they say reaches a greater depth than the Grand Canyon! After that “deeply” cool destination, I checked out the Khunzakhsky Waterfalls that
drain out from under a very old village by their 19th-century Russian fort. Speaking of heavily defended locals, I went deep down into “The Great Stone Bowl” for an otherworldly experience.
So far we have been looking at amazing views and landscapes but we can’t forget about the diverse Dagestani people. In the city of Kubachi metalworking masters have been creating wonders for centuries. I stopped by Alibeg’s home/workshop in Kubachi to try my hand at it.
If you want to order one of Alibeg’s creations check out his Instagram
https://www.instagram.com/kubachi_serebro_kurta/.
I sadly said good-bye to Kubachi, but getting up to Beacon Mountain was one heck of a pai in the butt… literally!
But once you get there you realize that the next big Lord of the Rings
movie needs to be filmed in Dagestan, the vistas are unbelievable!
From there I dropped down to the abandoned village of Gamsutl’ to see if there was any life there. And from a vacant city, I went to a very active town called Derbent and naturally took some time to see
the famous Derbent Fortress!
Dagestan offers unusual travel experiences (in a good way) and is a very unique vacation for anyone who is curious about Russia.

Must Eat Vladivostok: Russia’s Seafood Capital
Friends, it’s “Mega Crab vs Giant Octopus” today, as we are going to be eating big in Vladivostok all the way in the very Far East of Russia. Since we are right by China, Korea and the Pacific Ocean, you can probably imagine that the food will be different from what you get in Moscow. We are going to gorge on seafood and have all sorts of crab, octopus, scallops, shrimp, fish and more! But don’t worry, the city is still part of a huge land empire, meaning there are plenty of heavier, less healthy treats available at every turn. So for those of you who are curious about “Russia’s San Francisco” and its tasty treats, give this video a watch - it could make you change your vacation plans!

Russia’s Pacific Coast, Hiking, Kayaking and even Tigers!
Now friends, in our previous video we showed you Vladivostok itself, the weird Russian version of San Francisco, but what lies beyond its borders? That is the topic of our holiday video today. The “Marine Nature Reserve” is a stunning park with 900 hectares of land (and even more sea) for visitors to explore. There are even friendly deer that will walk right up next to you. For those of you that like things a bit mystical, the Brynner Family Mausoleum is quite an unusual piece of architecture surrounded by dachas and quaint country homes.
Since this region has the word “sea” in its name, not surprisingly there is plenty to do on the water including kayaking, but be forewarned, it is not easy as our audio-wizard Albert found out the hard way. “Safari Park” was the least “zoolike” of any zoo that I have been to and it was great to see the local tigers in a comfortable natural environment. Very neat. All in all the part of Russia next to China is beautiful, different and full of surprises for your travel vacation.

Kolomna - Great Little Town Next to Moscow | Travel Vlog
Kolomna is a great little town that everyone should visit while they are in Moscow on vacation or on business. It is so close, just a two hour train ride from the Kazansky Train Station downtown. Kolomna is quaint and clean with a few things to do that make taking a holiday day trip there a pleasure. Furthermore, lots of trains go there and tickets are very
darn cheap when measured in dollars.

RTTT Must See: Murmansk Winter Trip under the Northern Lights | Russia Travel
Friends travel to Russia should be an adventure! In Russia drinking colorful drinks near the beach in swim trunks is often not an option. Now hiking up snow covered mountains in Murmansk is always a plan!
Outdoor fun awaits but there are many neat things to see inside the city itself like the Lenin Icebreaker.
Standing above it is the second largest statue in Russia - “Alyosha” who guards the city of Murmansk from bad guys.
Just a bit down the road is the tiny yet infamous fishing village of Teriberka which is truly a symbol of the north. It has a great abandoned school to explore and amazing waterfalls right outside the town. The ship graveyard is also pretty sweet.
We stopped at a geodesic dome hotel to hunt for the Northern Lights in style and comfort but it didn’t exactly work out. What did go well was playing with Huskies at the Saami Ethnic Village. Great fun in the fresh air, that is the spirit of Murmansk and its surrounding region.
Enjoy the video!

The Must Sees of Tyva: Shamans, Buddhists, Nomads and Big Sky Country
Tyva is definitely more than the birthplace of a particular military leader! I have to say when you mix together the huge open vistas around the region, and the nomadic lifestyle experiences that you can have, the insanely heavy food and the psychotherapy magic of the shamans… this place is kind of magical.
Seriously, the local government should call it "Tyva, the land of magic" or something like that because it really is. This place will pleasantly surprise you. Just telling your friends that you went to the most Buddhist region of Russia should perk a few ears at a dinner party for sure. South Siberia should be your next holiday/vacation spot!

The Must Sees of Khakassia, South Siberia’s Golden Steppes, Huge River and Ancient Artifacts
Outside the capital city of Abakan, the Russian region of Khakassia opens up to big skies and brilliant shining steppe surrounding the mighty rumbling Yenisey river. Prehistory is very much alive in this part of the world. There are many ancient burial sites surrounded by imposing monoliths. The area is also home to one of the most impressive national parks in the world and a feat of engineering - its titanic hydroelectric power plant that supplies South Siberia with power. So let’s take a look at this mysterious realm under giant blue heavens that they call Khakassia.

The Pacific Coast of Russia, Flying over Vladivostok and the Far East in 4K Video
The Wild Wild West of Russia has to be its mysterious Far East. So, here is some great 4K drone footage from our trip to Primorsky Krai which is basically the part of Russia that borders both North Korea, China and the Pacific Ocean. Get ready Cowboy to trade in your steed for a cutter or kayak to take on the waves of the sea that infinitely crash against sky high cliffs. Many lighthouses and bridges dot the landscape as otherwise people would be completely stuck by the rough terrain. Every lighthouse is like a lone star at night.
There are many national parks around and opportunities for jeeping through the countryside or just hoofing it on foot up to ancient peaks. This is a true mountaineering adventure zone. Be it land or sea the area around Vladivostok has it all as the capital of the nation’s Far East.
We hope you enjoy this video because we have plenty of adventures around the region and in Vladivostok coming in the near future. Enjoy the 4K video friends! Yeehaw!

RTTT Russia: places to visit | Tula is the capital of Russian weapons
In this episode, we are visiting Tula. Some call it the “city of craftsmen” because ever since Medieval times a lot of tools, weapons, and other goods were made right here.
You’ll definitely feel the productive spirit in Tula at some of its museums, especially the Tula State Museum of Weapons. It is impossible to not notice this unique helmet shaped building that houses the Arms Museum, which is one of the biggest of its kind in the world. If you are at all interested in melee Russian weapons, hunting and sport rifles and/or hardcore military tech then coming here would be a good idea. You will definitely get inspired. If you want to know more about the history of when those weapons were used in medieval Russia then check out the Tula Kremlin right smack in the middle of downtown.
It may seem like Tula is all about arms which are only partially true. Tula is also the home to the totally non-violent Pryanik cookies and inside the Tula Kremlin, there is a museum where they will show you how to make one of these Russian sweets with your own hands. And since they seem to last forever they are a great gift to take back home. Locals consider their Pryanik cookies to be the supreme Russian biscuit with a totally unique flavor that you can only get here in Tula.
Tula may have a unique taste but it also has a unique sound, the sound of accordions! Tula is still a leader in accordion production to this day. Not only can you see accordions but hear them and learn to play songs for yourself. Who knows maybe you can take one home to impress (and/or annoy) your friends and family around Christmas?

Must Eat: Local Muslim food trip in Dagestan: Khinkal, Chudu, Urbech
Get ready to loosen your belts because in this episode of Must Eat I am in Dagestan and the portion sizes are well… massive. But let’s see if any of this exotic fair is any good. Let the Dagestan travel begin!
I started my culinary adventure at Makhachkala’s “Second Market” where I grabbed some fresh pomegranate juice and tried some sun-dried and salted sheep, as well as Ubrech which is basically Soviet nut butter with all sorts of flavors and variations. They also had all sorts of spices and meat to buy, but I was on vacation, and I wanted to be fed amazing
Muslim food not make it myself.
So from there, I went to Restaurant-Museum on Lermontov Street to treat myself to some awesome cuisine made by local chefs with only local ingredients. I had Khinkal and Chudu which, if you don’t know what those are, stop reading and watch the video. A picture is worth a thousand words my friends. Anyways, after my fine dining was done my food and
travel adventure continued as I went to the Eent road shite cafe.
When you are doing a travel food blog you need to keep things spontaneous and I honestly had no plans to film at this place, I was just hungry. But I was so impressed that I turned on the cameras. I had a bowl of fantastic bean soup and an ultra cheesy Botishal.
So yeah I had a great time, gained weight and learned about some new food that I had never heard of before. A big win all around!

Tasty treats of the Golden Horde in South Siberia
The ancient Russian regions of Khakassia and Tyva have unique cuisines completely different from Moscow's. But what could one possibly eat on the barren open steppes? In this video we reveal the answer as we take you on a culinary journey. As you might expect, with giant open fields come plenty of sheep - hence the mutton, as well as plenty of other calorie-dense options to keep you strong and ready for a day of fighting, riding or working. Now when it comes to vegetarian options in the cold and barren South Siberia, you'll just have to watch the video and find out!

Cognac, Calvados, Grappa: Alcohol test and local food trip in Dagestan | Must Eat Special
Normally when I visit a region of Russia I do one “Must Eat” video about the local cuisine, but Dagestan was so rich with food and drink that I decided to divide my experience into liquids and solids, so here is how to drink Dagestani… Must Drink!
First off I gleefully tested some pomegranate juice at Makhachkala’s
Second Market with was the perfect sweet way to start off today’s tasting.
Next, I was all the way down in Derbent at a local tea house. The tea houses are a big part of the culture where men go to talk to their buddies and sip tea with sweets all day long. The local tea is always drunk from
an “Armudu” glass to guarantee a proper temperature and experience.
Next, it was time to try alcohol at Derbent’s legendary Cognac Plant. Wood barrel-aged cognac from a region famous for it is something utterly amazing. This is not fire water, it was an alco-experience! I also tried some of their other products like calvados, grappa, and a supposedly female-friendly madeira wine.
So whether you are going hard or soft all the drinks in Dagestan were great, it must be the mountain water or something right?
