Gammon Point Lighthouse is located on the isolated tip of Great Island in West Yarmouth. Originally constructed in 1816 but deactivated in 1858, it was converted into a bird-watching observation tower by Charles B. Cory in the late 19th century. The private property it sits on is owned by descendants of Malcolm Chace and has not been lit as an aid to navigation for over 150 years.

Wing's Island in Brewster, Cape Cod is a step back to the upland areas of the 1920s. Many animals, including most of the fish and shellfish eaten in New England, spawn, grow and forage in this coastal wetland habitat in Brewster, MA. In one year, ten tons of plant material can grow in a single acre of salt marsh. Decaying grasses and other composting organic matter release vital nutrients which nourish new plant growth and feed the marsh animals. This intricate food web is linked to the sea through the tides. Incoming tides flood the marsh with water, distributing sediments and nutrient resources throughout. Outgoing tides also flush nutrients into nearby tidal flats and coastal waters, nourishing more plants and animals. Relish the taste of the ocean air, the sound of the breaking surf, and simply the best view on Cape Cod. Nauset Beach is a public beach inside the Cape Cod National Seashore Beach on the east coast of outer Cape Cod in Orleans, Massachusetts. Nauset extends south from a point opposite Nauset Bay to the mouth of Chatham Harbor. Nauset Light Beach consists of a broad, sandy beach that is contained by a steep glacial scarp behind it. The cliffs provide a superb view of the great outer beach and the ever-changing sea. Warm enough to walk barefoot along the water's edge, but quiet enough to enjoy the sound of the ocean, the shore can offer some of the highest waves on Cape Cod. It is popular with swimmers, surfers, boogie boarders and fishermen. Avoiding large schools of fish when swimming, and steering clear of seals or murky waters with low visibility is advisable and always swim, paddle or surf in a group. Shark sightings are nothing new for Cape Cod, which has a reputation as a hot spot for white sharks. There have been several shark attacks on Cape Cod beaches in recent years, including a fatal one in 2018, when a 26-year-old man died after he was attacked by a shark at Newcomb Hollow Beach in Wellfleet. It was the first fatal shark attack in Massachusetts since 1936. Unlike the shark featured in the 1975 film “Jaws,” great white sharks don’t intentionally target humans. But sharks can mistake swimmers for seals, their natural prey, and Cape Cod’s seal population has been flourishing under federal protections. Nauset Beach in the fall is the perfect time to visit. During winter months, the beach profile is considerably lowered, sometimes exposing features such as the brick foundation of one of the earlier Three Sisters lighthouses. There is not enough parking, but you can drop off the family and then ride to the beach. The beach is wide and if you're willing to walk, can always find a private section of sand.

Bass River is an estuary and village in South Yarmouth, Massachusetts, United States. The estuary separates the towns of Yarmouth and Dennis at the central, southern sections of the towns. At its widest and most southerly point, it opens to and meets Nantucket Sound. Bass River Beach or as it is commonly know, "Smugglers Beach", is a quiet, restfull beach. There is a walkway and fishing pier to stroll on and enjoy the sights and sounds of the ocean.

Highland Light is an active lighthouse on the Cape Cod National Seashore. Located in North Truro, it was erected in 1857. The current tower replaced two earlier towers and was the first lighthouse and fog signal on Cape Cod, established by edict from George Washington. During the Summer of 1996 the lighthouse was painstakingly moved on rails back hundreds of yards to save it from falling into the sea as the shoreline had eroded significantly since it was first built. A stone platform sits where the lighthouse once was. Known to mariners as Cape Cod Light, in 1865 the famous Cape Cod writer, Thoreau, wrote that it was one of the first lighthouses that travelers from Europe would see as they entered Massachusetts harbor. It was turned into a tourist attraction in 2014 and guided tours are available to the general public during Summer.

Sunken Meadow Beach in Eastham is a great bay side beach and is a great spot for surf casting at twilight. Steeper than some of the other bay beaches, you can enjoy the sunset with a higher vantage point. Like all bay beaches, this is ideal for young children especially as the tide goes out. The water temperature is in the 60 to 70 degree range in the summer. This is a town beach, and the Town of Eastham charges per day for parking. There is limited parking at this beach, with only about 10 spaces (depending on the sand drifts). Boat Meadow Beach in Eastham is a petite, marshy beach with many shallow water sandbars that make it great for children. The main sand bar is small, but can be a long walk, especially when it gets crowded. Off season, this is a local favorite. There are boats that sit on the horizon against the dunes and tide of this scenic landscape. Cliff Pond is 204 acre kettlehole pond, the largest in Nickerson State Park. The pond gets its name from the cliffs surrounding the pond. The 2.6 miles of protected shoreline are undeveloped pitch pine and dry oak woodlands with a moderately challenging trail with big views, a giant boulder and plenty of opportunities to walk along soft sand beaches. Transparency is exceptional, extending to 23 feet, and aquatic vegetation is scant. Mants Landing in Brewster, also known as Robbins Hill beach, is a playground for children to explore the tidal pools searching for small fish, shells, and crabs. Not too crowded, with ample parking. One of the entrances has stairs right off the parking area. The oyster grants appear as the tide recedes, which can occur rapidly. Parents should be aware if they take the family on a long walk out on the flats to explore. Found just a short drive off 6A in the center of Brewster, Breakwater Beach landing is one of the most popular beaches in the town and has an ample parking area. One of eight peaceful beaches, with gentle dunes, warm water and lots of pools at low tide make this an excellent spot for families with easy access for the grandparents. The beach doesn't get too crowded and you can walk out quite far during low tide on the flats. A perfect spot for children to explore the tidal pools, catch small fish, hermit crabs and be amazed at the dramatic movement of the tides over the course of a few hours. #breakwater #brewster #beaches #capecod #drone #ma

Town Neck Beach is a great spot in Sandwich.MA.Life to spend the day. A local and Washashore's favorite boardwalk to jump off of on a hot day and float out on the receding high tide. Many spend their day on the beach watching the boats pass through the Cape Cod Canal into the Bay or exploring the tidal pools. It was even voted as one of the Top 10 Boardwalks in the U.S.A. by National Geographic in 2010. It is 1,350 long and leads from Scorton Creek to the shoreline and was created in 1875 by Gustavus Howland. On the North shore of Yarmouth is a large marshland. Over the marshland is a long boardwalk that leads out from the pristine Gray's Beach. Heavily damaged in a January 2018 'Bomb Cyclone', sheets of sea ice from Cape Cod Bay tore through the boardwalk. Some sections, like the main viewing platform were carried miles away. Originally built in 1929, this heirloom boardwalk has achieved local iconic status. Over 961 people have bought planks to commemorate loved ones. Each plank donation helped with the restoration and has become a lasting tribute to honor their memories. More than 10,000 people take the stroll to the viewing platform each season. Both locals and Washashore's alike visit to find a quiet beach to relax with the family and capture the colors of the sunset to mark a day well lived. And what a picturesque sunset it can be... Nobska Lighthouse Since 1928, Nobska Light has provided a familiar beacon for 'all who do go down to the sea in ships'. 87 feet above sea level, Nobska's flash every six seconds is visible 17 miles out to sea. This 28,000 candlepower light used a 1000-watt lamp magnified by a Fourth Order Fresnel lens. the red section visible on the east side of the lantern house warns ships away from Hedge Fence and L'Hommedieu Shoals south of the Cape. The present tower is 42 feet high and ws constructed in 1876. It was built to replace the original "Nobsque" light, a stone cottage with a light tower on top which had stood since 1828. The present tower is made of a cast iron shell lined with brick. It was built in Chelsea, Massachusetts and transported to Cape Cod in four sections. The front half of the current "keepers house" was also built in 1876. Originally painted dark maroon-brown, it had a covered walkway to the tower attached in 1899 and a second "assistant keepers house" added in 1907. Over the years, windows, doors, porches and walkways have come and gone and the color has been changed to the classic Coast Guard white with red roof. Nobska Light became part of the Coast Guard in 1939, when the U.S. Light House Service merged with the Coast guard. Despite this change, the keepers of the light remained civilians until Mr. Hindley retired in 1973 when active duty Coast Guard keepers took up the duty. In 1985, Nobska Light was automated. The two keepers houses were joined and became the quarters for Commander Coast Guard Group Woods Hole and his family.
