A once-extinct butterfly has been reintroduced to England

A once-extinct butterfly has been reintroduced to England after being transported in a transit van through the Channel Tunnel in a COOL BOX. The chequered skipper disappeared in England in 1976 because of a loss of habitat and the increased planting of conifers which is unsuitable for them to thrive. The rare butterfly was historically found in a band of woodlands and limestone grassland from Oxfordshire to Lincolnshire and Cambridgeshire.

Calf who escaped farm inferno is on the mend

A calf that escaped a barn fire but suffered horrific burns over 65 per cent of its body is on the road to recovery. Andy, a four-month-old Holstein cow, managed to flee after being caught up in the night-time inferno but was severely injured, losing both his ears and an eyelid. The farm owners attempted to care for the calf, which had sustained second degree burns, but became overwhelmed when his health wasn’t improving.

Michael Fish's NBC26 Storm Shield weather forecast2m49s

Michael Fish's NBC26 Storm Shield weather forecast

Today most of the day should be quiet for most of us, but I can't rule out an isolated T'storm, mainly to the north. Highs will top out in the low- to mid-80s though cooling right along Lake Michigan. Tonight we'll be warm and mainly quiet with lows in the low-60s. Friday, this will probably will be the best chance of scattered thunderstorms over the next several days. With daytime heating, we'll probably start to see scattered T'storms develop especially as the afternoon wears on. If you do end up under one, you could see a gust of wind or possibly a bit of hail. It'll be warm and more humid with highs in the mid-80s. With the sun going down Friday night, any evening storm should gradually come to an end. Now with a little instability hanging around for Saturday and possibly Sunday, there will be small chances of afternoon showers or a T'storm, but you will have many more dry hours than rain. As of this moment, Monday looks warm, humid and quiet. Highs will be in the mid-80s with some humidity for the whole weekend. That sounds awfully nice! The Fox River is experiencing minor flooding in Green Lake County. The river is expected to drop below flood stage by Thursday.

Mother who learned she was pregnant four days after breast cancer diagnosis

A mum who learned she was pregnant four days after being diagnosed with breast cancer gave birth to a healthy baby girl - despite seven doctors advising her to terminate. Tifanie Morataya, 37, thought she was going to die after a biopsy revealed a painful lump the size of a tangerine on her left breast was cancerous. The financial coach was dealt a second blow when she was told by doctors that if she did survive, she may not be able to have children as chemotherapy can damage eggs.
