An 11-hour power outage at Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport on Sunday, December 17 stranded thousands of passengers inside terminals and in planes on the tarmac. More than 1,000 flights to and from Atlanta were canceled, with many diverted to nearby airports. Passengers used flashlights on their phones to navigate in the dark, and one person told CNN that the situation “felt totally apocalyptic”. Power was restored to one concourse at around 7:45 pm, more than six hours after the outage occurred in the afternoon, and fully reinstated just before midnight. Heavy rains hit central Philippines’ Aklan province as Tropical Depression Kai-tak, locally known as Urduja, made landfall for the fourth time on Sunday, December 17, Rappler reported. This video is described as showing the flooded streets outside of a hotel in Boracay, a small island in Aklan province. Tropical cyclone signal number 1 was raised in Aklan, as well as nearby provinces Romblon, Palawan, southern Mindoro and northern Antique, as the storm caused flooding and landslides and led to at least three deaths. Church Episcopal Leaders, Lee County officials, community ministers, congregants, family and friends will gather as Mt. Olive breaks ground on a new $3M facility. Mt. Olive will celebrate 122 years of existence in the community on December 17th and following the 11am service, there will be a celebration and Ground Breaking for a multi-million worship center. This will be the first of its kind for a church in the Dunbar Community Mt. Olive is excited for the opportunity to begin at this new location after 88 years in its present location. The construction will begin in early 2018 and is expectant to take 18 months.
