Trenton city manager vows to help drain flooded backyards

Neighbors first complained in February that a pair of dry wells meant to drain rainwater from their yards had failed, creating a massive, mucky pond that attracted geese and gnats. Developer Cristo Homes said then it hadn’t heard about the issue. On Wednesday night, however, Trenton’s interim City Manager Rob Leichman promised to partner with Cristo to find a solution.

Chuck Harmon, who blazed a trail as the first African-American Reds player, has died. He was 94. Harmon was at home in Golf Manor when he passed away at about 6 a.m. Tuesday, his son, Churck Harmon Jr., said. The younger Harmon said his dad is in a better place with his mom, who died about 10 years ago.

Two 12-year-old boys were injured Tuesday in an explosion on E. Withrow Street Tuesday night, according to Oxford police. A Butler County dispatcher said the 911 call arrived at 7:45 p.m. and described an injury from an accident involving fireworks. Police believe the explosion was caused by a "modified pyrotechnic device" one of the boys ignited. Oxford officers described finding one child covered in blood.

Police are investigating the crash that killed a Mason family of three on Interstate 75 Sunday night as a vehicular homicide. Timmy Thompson, 51, 50-year-old Karen Thompson and their daughter, 10-year-old Tessa Thompson, were all killed in the crash with a wrong-way driver when they were driving southbound on I-75 in Moraine at about 8 p.m. Sunday.
