Puppy Nearly Dies In House Fire, Becomes Firefighter Himself2m31s

Puppy Nearly Dies In House Fire, Becomes Firefighter Himself

Friendship is beautiful; but a friendship that is born from a heroic rescue is downright heartwarming. We are in love with this story about Jake, a Pitbull mix, and Bill Lindler. Jake was a victim of a house fire but thankfully rescued by Bill and others from Hanahan, South Carolina Fire Department. After Jake was rescued, although he was in rough shape, he was taken to a local clinic for treatment. Jake needed a new home; that’s where Bill came back into the picture. Bill adopted Jake and the two formed an incredible bond. Jake is a fighter and a survivor. After such an ordeal, he found a new home and became an official Firefighter thanks to the Mayor. Jake not only won Bill’s heart, but everyone he meets as well. Throughout the video you can tell that he has become a crucial part of the fire department in Hanahan. As the video goes on many of his now colleges have all the best to say about him. He is a charm and a motivation and also full of positive energy which the firefighters really need after they come back from putting out horrible fires. His company has brought lots of happiness and joy to all the firefighters in the station. His attitude and great persona is something that the firefighters claim they cannot live without. As one of them even states, "this dog has never met a stranger". He has also had the honor of becoming one of the crew and has been awarded by a badge that he wears onto his uniform. This video was produced by Lucia Nazzaro and shot by Caleb S. Varnadeaux and edited by Andrew Osborne. To see more heartwarming animal rescues, check out our HooplaHa YouTube page!

Dogs Welcoming Home Soldiers2m22s

Dogs Welcoming Home Soldiers

If you have a dog, you probably know what it is like to come back to it after a long day at work. They run to you, barking and wagging their tails, so happy that you are home with them again. The severity of their reaction grows exponentially when you are gone for a weekend or a longer trip. Can you imagine coming home to your pooch best friend after 6+ months of military tour? In this compilation video you will see why dogs are a soldier's best friend; dogs welcome home soldiers with wagging tails, slobbery kisses, and even hugs. To our dogs, we are part of the pack. When we leave, it is involuntary and it is not natural for a dog to leave the pack. So when we come back, it triggers a response in the dog's brain, similar to the behavior between a mother and child. To all of the brave soldiers out there, we wish you a safe and happy return home!

Down And Out Elderly Bully Gets A New Life2m52s

Down And Out Elderly Bully Gets A New Life

Senior dogs in shelters don’t have the best opportunities to find the loving homes that they deserve. People look at their age and decide that they don’t want a dog for a short period of time, or one that already has a lot of problems. But Chris and Mariesa fell in love with him instantly and they’re happy that they decided to take him home. DaVinci, a 10-12 year old Pitbull with neurological issues, was found wandering the streets of Albany, NY. After being taken in by the Mohawk Hudson Humane Society, Chris and Mariesa went there to get to know the people who work there -- little did they know they would be meeting one of their future dogs! DaVinci was in bad shape and the Hughes' went back to the shelter to adopt him in January of 2014, thinking it would be a "hospice stay" and he wouldn't be around for long. Under the Hughes' care, DaVinci is like a new dog! The Mr. Mo Project is a 501(c)(3) non-profit group started by Chris and Mariesa Hughes that has been responsible for saving countless shelter dogs nationwide since 2011. In honor of the life of their late and beloved senior dog Mr. Mo, the organization and the amazing Mr. Mo dog rescue community have saved over 200 senior dogs. As part of the program, the senior dogs ’ medical and veterinary costs are covered for life while in their forever foster home, which averages $25,000 a month. The program currently has 92 senior dogs in foster homes.

Why You Should Adopt A Senior Dog1m35s

Why You Should Adopt A Senior Dog

We love all dogs. Any age, any breed, any color. But it’s no secret that when people go to adopt dogs, they are usually searching for a puppy. This way, they can raise them and have them their whole lives. But what about senior dogs who need homes? They are just as amazing as puppies, if not more. Among many other qualities, they make loyal companions. The clip features Chris and Mariesa Hughes who run Mr. Mo Project, an established non-profit group responsible for saving countless shelter dogs since 2011. Together they fight to save senior shelter dogs nationwide, to honor of the life of their late and beloved senior dog, Mr. Mo. Here’s what the Hughes’ say about the project and how it all started: “Moses brought our attention to the overwhelming number of senior dogs that find their way into shelters across the country. Moses came to us housebroken, well trained and a gentle loving dog. He went on to become a chef, advocate for elderbulls and one of Facebook favorite faces. On February 17th, 2014 Moses was diagnosed with an inoperable spinal cord tumor. Moses lost his brave battle on March 26, 2014 and has since inspired this project." Therapy Dogs Help Kids With Trauma Feel Calm Enough To Tell Their Stories3m19s

Therapy Dogs Help Kids With Trauma Feel Calm Enough To Tell Their Stories

The dogs of the K9th Circuit Program are the ultimate therapy dogs for kids in courtrooms. In 2014, Orlando, Florida created a community outreach program called Companions for Courage where dogs provide a sense of secruity to children testifying in court. "Think about how a child must feel. They have to face the person who has hurt them, they have to sit in front of a bunch of strangers and tell a really painful story, and most of the time they're not even with their family while they're testifying," said Joanne Rittenhouse, one of the dog handlers. "All the dogs make everyone calm; they have a good presence," she continued. Studies have shown that people are better able to recollect facts and provide more accurate information regarding traumatic events when they are calm. With the assistance of the dog teams, children and adults are able to relieve their anxiety about the underlying traumatic events and provide more precise testimonies in court proceedings. One very special therapy dog named Karl is one of 6 dogs in the K9 Circuit Program. He was born deaf, knows sign language, and is an amazing support to the kids. "Karl gave her the courage to go through with the trial. I couldn't even get her out of the car when we first started and towards the end she was getting out of the car just to go and see Karl," added dog handler Carol Feiner. As a part of the community outreach program, "Companions for Courage is about the victim and the dog. It's a bond, and a sense of security that the animal brings to the child – to give them the confidence and courage to face that scary place." "Children feel protected to have this dog by their side" said Joanne. Since the program started, the Companions for Courage have been involved in 23 cases. Companions for Courage is the approved Therapy Dog Provider for the 5th Judicial Circuit and Ninth Judicial Circuit Courts of Florida.

Cats And Coffee Could Be The Purrfect Combination Of Love And Affection!4m49s

Cats And Coffee Could Be The Purrfect Combination Of Love And Affection!

Cat cafés are popping up all over the United States, but this one is VERY unique. Based in Orlando, Florida, this Cat Café is both a cat adoption center and a coffee shop that donates all of its profits to charitable causes. When founder Sandra Cagan was turning 50, she realized she wanted to do something that made a difference in the world. "Follow your bliss and make a difference in the world...with 20 years of property management experience and a life-long love of cats. This is something I could do," says Sandra. The Orlando Cat Café opened it doors in 2015 and found the perfect partner in Axum Coffee, a business that also opened for a reason. In fact, Axum is named after a city in Ethiopia where there is no fresh water, inadequate medical care, 1000's of orphans on the streets, and 1000's of beggars who are old, blind or physically impaired in some way. "They have a similar mission in life, they're a very charitable company, and we clicked immediately," says Sandra. The Cat Café partners with Axum for their coffee and partners with the Animal League to get their kitties! This Florida-based no-kill shelter ensures the cats are up to date on their shots and vaccinations, are spayed or neutered, and micro chipped. What's extra special about the Cat Café is that the cats pick you! There are two cat adoption specialists who are always on hand to match the cats' personalities with their potential owners in the hope of finding each cat a forever home! The Cat Café is located in the Town Center at Cagan Crossings, 4 miles west of Disney's Animal Kingdom and has had thousands of visitors and has helped over 80 cats get adopted! Other Than Being Our Pets, Dogs Can Also Be Our Teachers1m57s

Other Than Being Our Pets, Dogs Can Also Be Our Teachers

This is a list of all the important life skills dogs teach us. When humans bring a dog into their lives, they are most often looking for a companion; what they may not realize is that they are getting a teacher as well. Every single day dogs teach us important life lessons about love, overcoming adversity and healing! Our dogs can teach us to be good listeners, because having someone to talk to is always a good thing. They teach us to exercise more often. Having a dog isn’t just good for the soul, it is also good for the body. They teach us to take some time for ourselves and to relax, because some down time is also good for the soul, especially if you share it with your furbuddy! A dog can teach you the sweet sensation of unconditional love. Just remember the eagerness they show every time you come back home! Our dogs teach us so many other valuable lessons, like sharing, overcoming obstacles, loyalty and heroism. They know not of prejudice and hate. But the best thing that dogs can teach us humans is something we often forget in life, and that is to enjoy it! Be present in the moment, because that is where we live, right here and now!
