THRESHER SHARKS KILL PREY WITH TAIL1m34s

THRESHER SHARKS KILL PREY WITH TAIL

The thresher shark has one of the most dangerous tails in the ocean. It has evolved a deadly hunting tactic to kill its prey with its tail. Using their long, slender caudal fins, which can span almost the entirety of the length of the shark's body, with a whip-like motion, thresher sharks can stun or even kill their prey. Watch as they speed towards a shoal of sardines and right in the midst they throw their bullwhip tails, smacking a few fish at a time. Then they come back in a smooth arc to gather the kill. This glorious species is labeled as vulnerable on the endangered species list, with their population decreasing dramatically over the past 10 years. Marine specialists are working hard to understand their way and habitat in order to protect them. Thresher Shark Footage © Bronze http://goo.gl/tzWty

World's First Video Of Rare Monkey1m18s

World's First Video Of Rare Monkey

Fauna and Flora International has captured the world's first video footage of Myanmar Snub-Nosed Monkey. This new species (Rhinopithecus strykeri) was discovered in 2010 and has remained hidden from video cameras up until now. It has almost entirely black fur with white only on ear tufts, chin beard and perineal area. It also has a relatively long tail, approximately 140% of its body length. Discovered along the Chinese border, specifically Kachin State in north-eastern Myanmar. Locals say that they are easiest to locate in winter. During rainy season, the water from the rain gets in their upturned nostrils, causing them to sneeze. That's the reason why this species are also called Sneezing Monkeys. Their population is estimated around 300 and declining, due to habitat destruction from increased logging and development. While many species are known to live in small groups, this footage shows a rather large family, which raises the importance of preserving their habitat. Since 2011, Flora and Fauna International, along with their partners and the local communities, have take immediate conservation actions towards preserving this important new species. The organization has started a community ranger program and are developing an alternative livelihood program for the peoples who are indigenous to the forest.

Bear Shows Unbelievable Compassion, Saves Life Of Drowning Bird1m39s

Bear Shows Unbelievable Compassion, Saves Life Of Drowning Bird

Talk about a crazy story! A hero bear goes into action and saves a drowning bird in this heartwarming rescue at the Budapest Zoo in Hungary. One unfortunate crow fell into the water hole of the bear’s enclosure. The bear can be seen descending onto a rock in the pond, where there is already a cut of meat waiting for him to munch on, and pokes his muzzle towards the bird. Apparently, the bird didn’t like the sight of the bear’s nose and might have peck at it, because the bear can be seen snatching his head real quick, letting the bird swim away. After noticing the bird in danger, Vali the bear reaches into the water, lifts it by its wing, and drops the crow safely, much to the surprise of everyone who went to visit the Grizzly at the zoo. One might think that the bear was actually excited to find something other than carrots and apples in his enclosure, but that is clearly not the case, as the ursine calmly goes back to nom on an apple, after dropping the bird on dry land. Surely, if the bear wanted to chow on something meatier, he would have ended that poor crow’s life the minute he caught it in the water. Faith restored! Credit to Aleksander Medves.
