John Deere 1025r mower deck removal and winterizing

The first frost of the year symbolizes the end of the mowing season and means it's time to winterize the mowing deck on my John Deere 1025r tractor. The fist step in the process is to clean the mowing deck of all of the debris. I will connect a water hose to the mowing deck and run it with the water flowing to help remove the buildup. I will then spray off any remaining grass before removing it from the tractor.

Removing the deck on the John Deere 1025r is very easy using John Deere's auto connect system. Park on a level surface with the gauge wheels all the way up. Switch the deck height selector to the load position and then lower the deck to the ground. Release the mowing deck catch. Put the tractor in four-wheel drive, make sure the loader won't hit the deck once you back off it and slowly back up making sure you don't drag it behind you.

Once you have removed the mowing deck from the tractor, make sure to raise the lift all the way back up and put the deck height selector to its highest position to keep from damaging the components when using your tractor.

Finish cleaning any debris from the mowing deck and grease all of the bearings.
