The Bowflex SelectTech 840 kettlebell is a solid option if you’re looking to workout with kettlebells.

It’s six kettlebells in one and doesn’t take up a lot of space.

For me, it was the perfect option for my garage gym.

Unboxing the Bowflex Adjustable Kettlebell
======

The Bowflex adjustable kettlebell comes fully assembled in a box surrounded by thick styrofoam.

It comes with several instruction manuals in different languages.

The kettlebell came without any dents or scratches and is ready to use right out of the box.

Once you pull the kettlebell out of the box, you can see it’s made with quality materials.

The handle feels solid.

The knob has a thick rubber grip.

And the outer shell (hull) is made of a heavy duty material.

Features
======

The Bowflex SelectTech 840 kettlebell comes with five weight plates that are inside the kettlebell hull (shell)

They stack on top of each other and whatever weight is not selected stays on the base.

The bottom part is the base and it always stays on the ground.

The top of the kettlebell has an adjustment knob that lets you select the weight you want.

It rotates in both directions.

You’ll hear a click each time you rotate the knob to a weight selection.

That click tells you your weight selection is securely locked and ready to lift.

Locking Mechanism
======

The Bowflex 840’s locking mechanism selects the weight off the base and makes sure it stays inside the kettlebell.

You can see the selecting shaft that locks the weights in place if you flip the kettlebell hull over.

In order to rotate the adjustment handle to change weights, the kettlebell MUST be on the base.

This is done for your safety.

They want to make sure the weight plates don’t fall off when the kettlebell is not on the base.

Weight Increments
======

There are six weight increments on the dial and they are shown in kilos and pounds.

The weight increments go like this:
• 8 lbs (3.5 kg)
• 12 lbs (5.5 kg)
• 20 lbs (9 kg)
• 25 lbs (11 kg)
• 35 lbs (16 kg)
• 40 lbs (18 kg)

Maintenance and Safety
======

The Bowflex 840 is not meant to be dropped.

They make it very clear by engraving a “Do Not Drop” sign right on the adjusting knob.

Dropping the kettlebell can damage the plates and the locking mechanism.

The last thing you want is for one of the weight plates to drop on you while you lift the kettlebell overhead.

Overall, the Bowflex SelectTech 840 is a solid kettlebell.

Well built, replaces 6 kettlebells, and takes up very little space.

I originally bought one to test it out, but now that I’ve put it through the ringer I’m sold.
