We are nearing the end of our odyssey through the depths of despair and darkness. We've seen how our own selfishness and pride invited those who promised us the riches of our brother and unceremoniously stolen behind the cocked barrel of a legal gun, and pointed at the Temple of Christian fellowship that is our Constitutional Republic. They entered Office under the false slogan of "give peace a chance". They promised they "had our good in mind," but, in the end, we learned they never did. They are rebellious mercenaries of their father the devil and peace was never their objective, though they did sing little jingles to convince us they did.
Frédéric Bastiat's 1850 book "The Law" is a seminal work that critiques the misuse of law and government power for private gain. Bastiat argues that the law's primary function is to protect individual rights to life, liberty, and property. However, he contends that when the law is perverted to serve the interests of a few at the expense of the many, it becomes an instrument of legal plunder. Bastiat warns against the dangers of socialism and other collectivist ideologies, which he believes lead to the erosion of individual freedoms and societal harmony. Through his incisive critique, Bastiat advocates for a legal system rooted in justice, limited government, and the protection of personal freedoms.
