Shaheen’’s say:

Owen Buxton and Sadia AboHussien are two incredibly intelligent and refreshing individuals who demonstrate amazing academic minds, critical thinking ability, and strong work ethics in their unwavering passion for the liberties of Palestine.

Since they will be the generation to guide the world toward justice, liberty, and peace while defending the laws pertaining to our unalienable rights as created by God or by virtue of our humanity, we are all proud of these students' dedication, bravery, and strength.

Owen Buxton said in the interview with Richard Medhurst:

‘I myself am partially Jewish; it upsets me to think that there are students at Emerson or anywhere in the country who feel unsafe because of our encampments.’

‘Anti-Zionist does not mean antisemitism.’

‘To me, it means anti-genocide and anti-occupation.’

Sadia AboHussien spoke about her learning experiences that were bestowed upon her:

‘It was the most beautiful time I ever spent at Emerson.’

‘The things that ruined it the most were the presence of the police and the intimidation of the police and intimidation from the administration, and that’s what becomes agitational.’

I'm a junior Media Arts Production major at Emerson College with a fascination with eliciting emotions through storytelling. Whether through a drawing, a video, or even a LEGO build, I want to inspire others—especially kids—to indulge their creative instincts.

Inclusivity, advocacy, and collaboration are the driving forces behind my goals and passions as a ‘Muslim Egyptian’ student, writer, and creator.

Now in my junior year as a Communication Studies and Creative Writing double major at Emerson College, I’ve developed a sincere appreciation for the powerful intersections of storytelling, organizing, education, and community enrichment.
