People's Republic Of New York City AG Letitia James Said She Under Pressure To Prosecute Jon Stewart As She Said "No One Above Law" My White Boy Jon Stewart. People on social media have called for New York Attorney General Letitia James to prosecute late-night show host Jon Stewart as she did former President Donald Trump after it was reported that Stewart sold his city apartment for $15.6 million more than it was worth.

Jon “I Hate America unless it does what I want” Stewart is coming back to the Daily Show - Jon “I Hate America unless it does what I want” Stewart is coming back to the Daily Show · Great - The dip ship who brainwashed people is coming back Go away Jon, your not funny, your a neurotic, Anti White, Anti American communist mother who never saw something he didn’t want to subvert.

On Wednesday, the New York Post reported that Stewart sold his Tribeca penthouse in 2014 for $17.5 million. At the time, the 6,280-square-foot property had a market value of about $1.882 million, according to the City of New York's Assessment Roll 2013-2014, making the sale price roughly 830 percent higher.

Jon Stewart benefited by 829% ‘overvalue’ of his NYC home even as he labels Trump’s civil case ‘not victimless’. Comedian Jon Stewart ranted this week that Donald Trump’s civil real-estate case overvaluing his properties was “not victimless,” yet when it came to his own home, Stewart benefited from a similar inflation.

On Monday night, Stewart, 61, unpacked Trump’s $454 million appeal bond, calling out experts framing the former president’s New York civil case as not causing direct harm to any individual.

“The Daily Show” host rolled a clip of CNN’s Laura Coates interviewing “Shark Tank” star Kevin O’Leary, who commented that the ruling didn’t “go over well” with the real estate industry that was now fretting over the possibility of becoming the next target.

Coates responds to O’Leary by highlighting that Trump was found liable for falsifying business records in the second degree, issuing false financial statements, insurance fraud and conspiracy, all due to asset inflation.

“Everything that you just listed off is done by every real estate developer everywhere on Earth in every city. This has never been prosecuted,” O’Leary replied.

In response, Stewart asked: “How is he not this mad about overvaluations in the real world?” “Because they are not victimless crimes,” he said. To further his point, Stewart argued that “money isn’t infinite. A loan that goes to the liar doesn’t go to someone who’s giving a more honest evaluation. So the system becomes incentivized for corruption.”

Stewart also contended that failing to declare a higher market value on a property, while paying taxes based on a lower assessed value, constitutes fraudulent behavior.

“The attorney general of New York knew that Trump’s property values were inflated because when it came time to pay taxes, Trump undervalued the very same properties,” Stewart added. “It was all part of a very specific real estate practice known as lying.”

But it didn’t take long for internet sleuths to look into Stewart’s own property history, which shows his New York City penthouse sold for 829% more than its assessed value, records confirmed by The Post reveal.

In 2014, Stewart sold his 6,280-square-foot Tribeca duplex to financier Parag Pande for $17.5 million.

The property’s asking price at that time is not available in listing records.

But according to 2013-2014 assessor records obtained by The Post, the property had the estimated market-value at only $1.882 million.

The actual assessor valuation was even lower, at $847,174.

Records also show that Stewart paid significantly lower property taxes, which were calculated based on that assessor valuation price — precisely what he called Trump out for doing in his Monday monologue.

Pande, who purchased the penthouse from Stewart, then resold the property at a nearly 26% loss, according to the Real Deal — at just over $13 million — in 2021.

Timothy Pool, a political commentator known for more right-leaning views, alleged on X that Stewart was being a hypocrite.

“Did @jonstewart commit fraud when he sold his penthouse for $17.5M? NY listed its market value at $1.8M an AV at around 800k… Who did he defraud?? I am SHOCKED,” he wrote.

“This is right in [Letitia James’] jurisdiction! I look forward to the grand jury indictment,” a user quipped in response to the tweet.

Stewart’s reps did not respond to The Post’s request for comment, but the comedian tweeted Wednesday evening: “OMG!! I’ve been caught doing something not remotely similar to Trump! I guess all I need to do now is start a fraud college, steal classified docs, bankrupt casinos, pay hush money, grab pussies, discriminate in housing, cheat at golf and foment insurrection and you’ll revere me!”

Meanwhile, the New York assessor valuation on Stewart’s former penthouse is the exact same citation method and metric that New York Attorney General Letitia James used to value Trump’s private and personal properties, and then sued him for inflating those assets.

Market value was not considered throughout Trump’s case.

This includes Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate in Palm Beach, known as his main residence, which was assessed at only $18 million at the time.

Real estate brokers had valued the property at 50 times more than that amount.

Same for his private 200-acre New York family estate in Westchester, which was assessed between $30 million and $56 million. Trump had valued the property, known as Seven Springs, at $261 million.

The difference between Stewart and Trump’s cases is that a judge ruled that Trump sometimes exaggerated to lenders about how big his properties were, including the square footage of his Trump Tower apartment. Last month, Manhattan Supreme Court Justice Arthur Engoron ordered Trump to pay $355 million — and temporarily banned him from doing business in the state — relying heavily on the assessed valuations of the properties to determine the ruling.

The $454 million bond to appeal the ruling marks the highest bond ever recorded in United States history against a single individual.

The comedian did nothing illegal by selling his penthouse for more than market value, but social media users were quick to mention that James go after Stewart, like she did with Trump for inflating his assets.

James filed a lawsuit against Trump in September 2022, accusing him, his two adult sons, Donald Jr. and Eric, The Trump Organization and two firm executives, Allen Weisselberg and Jeff McConney, of fraudulently overvaluing assets to secure more favorable bank loans and taxation deals.

Last month, Judge Arthur Engoron ordered Trump to pay $355 million, plus interest, and barred him from doing business in New York for three years after finding him liable for fraud.

Representative Mike Collins, a Georgia Republican, posted on X, formerly Twitter, "Look forward to Letitia James sending the NYPD to haul Jon Stewart to jail and seize his property."

Conservative Breitbart News shared an article about Stewart's penthouse sale and wrote: "Paging Letitia James, paging Letitia James...No one is above the law, are they?"

Conservative radio host Andrew Wilkow shared Wednesday's article from the Post and wrote: "Paging Letitia James."

Stewart responded to the backlash he was receiving in an X post on Wednesday: "OMG!! I've been caught doing something not remotely similar to Trump! I guess all I need to do now is start a fraud college, steal classified docs, bankrupt casinos, pay hush money, grab pussies, discriminate in housing, cheat at golf and foment insurrection and you'll revere me!"

Newsweek reached out to Stewart's representatives and Trump's spokesman via email for comment.

Stewart selling his home over market value is vastly different from Trump's case. Homeowners are allowed to sell their property for however much they want to. He did not inflate the value of his property to get better loans, which is what James argued that Trump did.

Trump, the presumptive 2024 GOP presidential nominee, has claimed that he did nothing wrong, and the case is politically motivated. He has appealed Engoron's ruling.

When Engoron gave his ruling, James posted on X: "Today, justice has been served. This is a major win for everyone who believes that we must all play by the same rules. No matter how big, how rich, or how powerful you are, no one is above the law. Not even Donald Trump."

On Monday, when Trump's $454 bond was due, an appeals court reduced the amount to $175 million and gave him 10 additional days to pay it. The other defendants in the fraud case have faced their own penalties.

The Post article came out after Stewart slammed Trump and criticized reports that described the former president's asset inflation as a "victimless crime" on his program The Daily Show on Monday.

The comedian said that overvaluations are "not victimless crimes," adding, "Money isn't infinite. A loan that goes to the liar doesn't go to someone who's giving a more honest evaluation."

"Avoiding taxes hurts all of us," he continued, adding that "Donald Trump's shenanigans cost the city of New York."

The Post added that records also showed Stewart paid lower property taxes based on the penthouse's valuation.

Jon Stewart Responds to Claims He Overvalued Apartment Jon Stewart responded to reports that he overvalued his apartment by criticizing Donald Trump for exaggerating his own property values.

Trump was ordered to pay $454 million in February after New York judge Arthur Engoron concluded that the real estate mogul had inflated his assets to secure bank loans and make business deals.

On Tuesday, an appeals court agreed to the delay collection if Trump pays a reduced $175 million bond within 10 days. Stewart mocked Trump's legal woes during the latest episode of The Daily Show.

Social media users accused him of "hypocrisy" after the New York Post reported that the comedian sold his Tribeca penthouse in 2014 for 829 percent above the estimated market value. Stewart subsequently slammed the critics on X, formerly Twitter.

"OMG!! I've been caught doing something not remotely similar to Trump!" the comedian posted on Wednesday. "I guess all I need to do now is start a fraud college, steal classified docs, bankrupt casinos, pay hush money, grab pussies, discriminate in housing, cheat at golf and foment insurrection and you'll revere me!"

Stewart sold his Tribeca penthouse in 2014 for $17.5 million. At the time, an assessor valued the 6,280-square-foot property at $847,174, a difference of 829 percent. In New York, tax rates are applied to the estimated value of a property, with the penthouse judged to be worth $1.882 million. Stewart did not do anything legally wrong.

Since being shared, his post has received 5.7 million views.

Newsweek reached out to Donald Trump and Jon Stewart for comment via email.

Stewart ripped into the former president during Monday night's show, blasting news reports that described the asset inflation as a "victimless crime."

"You might be saying to yourself, well, that sounds pretty straightforward. Whatever gains you got from lying, you have to pay back," Stewart said.

"Well, that's because you're a f****** idiot," he joked, before cutting to press coverage of the trial.

The montage included recent clips from Fox News, where several hosts and contributors said there are "no victims" in Trump's New York civil fraud case.

The segment also included a recent CNN interview with Shark Tank's Kevin O'Leary, in which the Canadian businessman claimed the ruling "didn't go over well with the investment community."

"We're all asking each other, who's next?" O'Leary said in the footage.

In response, Stewart quipped: "Ah, who's next? The persecuted minority of the investment community," before dubbing O'Leary an "a******."

Next came a reel of Shark Tank clips, in which O'Leary slams entrepreneurs for seemingly overvaluing their business.

"How is he not this mad about overvaluations in the real world?" Stewart said.

"Because they are not victimless crimes. Money isn't infinite. A loan that goes to the liar doesn't go to someone who's giving a more honest evaluation."

"Avoiding taxes hurts all of us," he continued, adding that "Donald Trump's shenanigans cost the city of New York."

The backlash against the comedian was swift on social media despite the difference between Stewart's and Trump's situations.

"When's Jon Stewart's trial???" said @Eyesoftheworld_ on X.

"People who live in overvalued glass houses shouldn't throw stones, Jon," wrote conservative commentator Charlie Kirk.

"If Trump's "crimes" were 'not victimless,' what say you of yours?" asked @Shaughn_A2.

"Leticia James needs to go after Jon Stewart for the same exact reasons she went after Trump because fair is fair," said @TheThe1776.

Other users defended Stewart, pointing out that overinflating assets and selling a property for above-market value are not the same thing.

"Oh god is this dumb," wrote Mike Pesca. "Jon Stewart payed [sic] his assessed taxes, as everyone everywhere who has had to pay taxes on their home's assessed value has done."

"Trump overvalued his assets on loan applications, which is a federal crime," said Shawn Foss." Jon Stewart sold his penthouse for a lot more than the market value, which is completely legal."

Stewart has poked fun at Trump several times since returning to The Daily Show in February after a 9-year hiatus to cover the 2024 election, mocking everything from the business magnate's legal woes to his recent golf tournament wins.

Letitia James: the New York state attorney general who brought down the Trump Organization
This article is more than 1 month old
James faced a barrage of personal attacks through the trial, but won a ‘tremendous victory’ in her highest-profile case to date.

On the morning closing arguments were to begin at Donald Trump’s drama-filled New York fraud trial, a small crowd of protesters briefly blocked traffic to denounce the former president. “No dictators in the USA,” the group chanted.

When a black SUV rolled up to the courthouse, the protestors changed course. “Thank you, Tish! Thank you, Tish!” they cheered as Letitia James ascended the courthouse steps.

The end of Trump’s fraud trial marked the closing of the New York attorney general’s highest-profile case to date. Though a team of lawyers from her office led the case, James has been the public face of the trial since its start. Sitting behind Trump in court and sometimes casting meme-worthy, incredulous looks at Trump and his team, she has inevitably become a target of his vitriol inside and outside the courtroom.

“I DID NOTHING WRONG, MY FINANCIAL STATEMENTS ARE GREAT, & VERY CONSERVATIVE, THE EXACT OPPOSITE OF WHAT THE HIGHLY POLITICAL & TOTALLY CORRUPT NEW YORK STATE ATTORNEY GENERAL SAYS,” Trump wrote, in all caps, on Truth Social in January. “THE CORRUPT AG WANTS $370M AS BUSINESSES FLEE NEW YORK. THEY SHOULD PAY ME.”

James kept her comments on the trial brief, posting summaries of the trial’s happenings each week on social media and sometimes offering comments outside the courthouse. On the last day of the trial, long after Trump had left the courthouse after delivering a bizarre closing statement, James told reporters: “The personal attacks don’t really bother me.”

On Friday, James was given a stunning victory. The judge overseeing the case, Arthur Engoron, handed her almost everything she had asked for. Trump was fined more than $350m plus pre-judgment interest and he and his eldest sons were banned from doing business in New York for years.

“Today, justice has been served. This is a tremendous victory for this state, this nation and for everyone who believes that we all must play by the same rules – even former presidents,” James said in a statement. “For years, Donald Trump engaged in massive fraud to falsely inflate his net worth and unjustly enrich himself, his family and his organization.

“Now, Donald Trump is finally facing accountability for his lying, cheating and staggering fraud. Because no matter how big, rich or powerful you think you are, no one is above the law.”

It is an argument that James campaigned on when she ran for the attorney general seat in 2018. At the time, the position was embroiled in scandal following abuse accusations against the former attorney general, Eric Schneiderman.

Raised in Brooklyn with her seven siblings, James attended public schools before getting her law degree at Howard University in Washington DC. She rose through the ranks as a public defender before entering New York politics as a councilmember and then as public advocate, the first Black woman to hold the watchdog role and one where she filed a record number of suits on behalf of people with disabilities, seniors and tenants.

When she won the attorney general’s office, another first for a Black woman, James vowed to “take that power back” from corporations and corrupt politicians.

“The law is the great equalizer and the biggest pillar of our democracy,” she said in her inaugural speech in 2019. “I will shine a light into the murkiest of swamps and act as a steward of justice.”

Even as Trump’s fraud trial comes to an end, James is pursuing other high-profile cases, including a civil case against top officials of the National Rifle Association (NRA). James has accused them of violating non-profit law by using NRA funds for their personal benefit.

The case could ultimately see the dissolution of the once-powerful gun lobbying group. Wayne LaPierre, the longtime NRA president at the center of the case, resigned in early January before the trial began, in what James said in a statement was an “important victory” for the case.

James has also found rivals in the Catholic church, which she has sued for mishandling child sexual abuse, and the NYPD over its treatment of Black Lives Matter protesters in 2020. James also filed a lawsuit against Pepsi in November over its single-use plastic polluting the Buffalo River in New York, teeing up a major environmental lawsuit against the beverage company, which is based in New York.

Critics of James – a longtime New York City councilwoman before she became the state’s attorney general – are usually political or legal opponents like Trump, and have tried to paint her as an opportunist who uses her office to grab national attention.

When James investigated former New York governor Andrew Cuomo, once an ally, for sexual assault, Cuomo accused her of using the investigation for political motives.

“There are many agendas and there are many motivations at play,” Cuomo said during his farewell address in August 2021, after James’ investigation found that he had sexually assaulted 11 women.

When it came to Trump’s trial, he lobbed similar accusations against James, saying inside and outside the courtroom that she was conducting a “witch-hunt” in pursuing her own political agenda.

“She’s a political hack, and this is a disgrace that a case like this is going on,” Trump said during one of the untethered rants he made on the witness stand in November. “This is a political witch-hunt, and I think she should be ashamed of herself.”

Serving as a state attorney general is seen as a good launching point for a shot into a state’s governor’s mansion. James briefly ran for governor in 2021, a campaign that lasted only six weeks. She dropped out of the race when it became clear that much of the state’s Democratic party stood behind Kathy Hochul, the lieutenant governor who replaced Cuomo after he resigned.

When James dropped out of the race, she said she had to “continue my work as attorney general”. At the time, her office was well underway in its investigation into the Trump Organization’s finances.

“There are a number of important investigations and cases that are underway and I intend to finish the job,” James said.

It is unclear what specific ambition James has for her future, especially given that there are no term limits on New York’s governor or its attorney general.

While James has positioned herself as an ally to Hochul, who is seen as a more moderate Democrat, she has distanced herself from the governor on some issues. In August, James took the unusual step of declining to represent Hochul over the handling of migrants who were being brought to the state. Hochul was focused on requiring only New York City to house migrants, a requirement James said she believed applied to the whole state.

For now, James has continued to emphasize that her focus is on the cases in her office. When she was running for her second term in 2022, a race she would win by nine points, her Republican opponent told the New York Times that she had lost sight of New York taxpayers while focusing on her own political ambitions.

In response, James told the Times that ignoring Trump or the NRA would have been a “dereliction of my duty”.

“We’ve been very active,” she told the paper. “And I make no apologies, because this is who I am, and this is what I do.”

Internal docs confirm AG Letitia James knew about aide’s sexual harassment scandal well before election. Internal documents released by Attorney General Letitia James’ office Monday night confirmed she knew about the sexual harassment allegations lobbed against a longtime top aide for more than a month before Election Day, but chose to keep it under lock-and-key before voters went to the polls.

James and her office first learned that Chief of Staff Ibrahim Khan, 38, was facing sexual harassment complaints from two women on Oct. 2 — long before New York’s Nov. 8 election date, according to the documents that provided a damning timeline into the scandal.

The day after, the attorney general’s office ordered Khan to switch to remote work and to stop communicating with coworkers and others close to James, according to the email provided by James’ Deputy General Counsel Serena Longley.

In the Oct. 3 email, General Counsel for the Attorney General Larry Schimmel asked Khan to “stay remote in your position” and “refrain from socializing with any OAG staff, or anyone in any capacity affiliated with the AG.” Several State Republicans are calling for a probe into James’ decision to keep her staffer’s sexual harassment complaints under wraps until after she won her re-election bid.

An Irish society, an unpaid loan and the hypocrisy of Letitia James

To celebrate St. Patrick’s Day, here is a tale of financial shenanigans at the American Irish Historical Society, in which Trump-deranged New York Attorney General Letitia James is hoist by her own petard.
It involves a grand old building on Fifth Avenue, an unpaid loan, a fading family dynasty, a James Joyce theatrical production which almost ended in fisticuffs, and hypocrisy from the AG as obvious as a glass of green beer.

It all began when James Doyle, a wealthy Georgia businessman with a love of his Irish roots, joined the board of the nonprofit society, whose crown jewel is a rare Gilded Age mansion at 991 Fifth Ave., right across from Central Park and the Met.

Over the years, financial mismanagement and misfortune had befallen the society, and it was facing foreclosure. So in 2017, the board turned to Doyle for a $3 million loan, structured like a private mortgage. He was told that the Beaux-Arts townhouse was worth $80 million that included valuable air rights.

However, the society only made a few payments and Doyle soon found things weren’t quite as they seemed.

The society had been dominated for half a century by the Cahill family, and president emeritus Dr. Kevin Cahill was accused of treating the townhouse as his own “private club,” with one of his four sons, Christopher, becoming its “well-compensated executive director,” according to the New York Times. Christopher earned $88,459 in 2020, and between $134,768 and $179,402 in previous years, according to IRS returns.

Jon Stewart blasts pundits calling Trump's fraud a "victimless crime"
"It was all a part of a very sophisticated real estate practice known as lying," Stewart quipped.

As former President Donald Trump and his company face looming pressure after he has been ordered to pay a whopping $464 million to a New York court or post a bond that was recently reduced to $175 million to appeal the judgment, Jon Stewart skewered conservatives pundits who have sought to spin the case as a “victimless crime.”

On Monday's episode of "The Daily Show," Stewart mocked Trump's inability to come up with the money as New York Attorney General Letitia James threatens to seize his assets.

"RIP the Trump Organization. It died as it lived — fraudulently," he said. Saving a confetti blaster since 2016, Stewart popped open the canister with a grin. Despite the early celebration, Stewart was let down due to an appeals courts giving the former president a 10-day extension to pay the debt or post a bond, which was reduced to $175 million.

Stewart explained that Trump is now paying this penalty he would inflate the size of his real estate to secure favorable loan deals but when it came time to pay taxes, the former president "undervalued the very same properties."

"It was all a part of a very sophisticated real estate practice known as lying," he said. However, media pundits from Fox News' Sean Hannity to "Shark Tank" judge Kevin O’Leary saw the fraud as a "victimless crime."

"Who's next?" O'Leary questioned, suggesting the government would come after other real estate developers.

"Ah 'who's next?' The persecuted minority of the investment community," Stewart joked. "But I am surprised to hear this from Kevin O'Leary, a guy who is such an a*****e that the other people on 'Shark Tank' think he's an a*****e."

In another clip, O'Leary was told that Trump was found liable for falsifying business records, issuing false financial statements, insurance fraud, and conspiracy. But in response, O'Leary said “Everything that you just listed off is done by every real estate developer everywhere on Earth in every city. This has never been prosecuted.”

O'Leary's statement set off Stewart: “I don’t know if you know this, but most people just can’t commit fraud and expect to face no repercussions, even if everyone’s doing it."

He continued to explain fraud committed by struggling working-class Americans.

"Try getting a car loan by saying you have ten times as much money as you really do. Or claim 20 dependents when you have no children. Or say you make slightly less money to qualify for food assistance. I will guarantee you, there are not just financial consequences for those lies, but criminal ones,” he said.

“But don’t tell that to the investment community, because in their minds, in pursuit of profit, there is no rule that cannot be bent, there is no principle that cannot be undercut, as long as you and your f******g friends make money," Stewart said. "Apparently, the only immoral practice in the capitalist system is to use that money for people who may need it.” “Stealing is only justified when you already have too much,” he strongly stated.

Jon Stewart mocks Trump's "bigrant crime" comment, calls out bipartisan migrant fearmongering "This is the terrible cycle America is caught in . . . and no one wins".

As the 2024 election cycle heats up, Jon Stewart takes no prisoners calling out Republicans and Democrats for their harmful stances on immigration and the migrant crisis at the southern border.

On Monday's episode of "The Daily Show," Stewart opened snarkily, "We now return to you with your regularly scheduled election year programming." The host was ready to dig into how politicians use immigration as a tool to sway voters one way or another.

A Fox News montage with clips and voiceovers overstating the crisis at the southern border prompted Stewart to yell in fear. He responded, "Yes, every two to four years we are reminded that we have a southern border, and it is porous." Another clip from Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene on the conservative news channel calling migrants "criminals, rapists, murderers, child predators," was met with boos from the audience.

"There does seem to be bipartisan agreement that the border is a problem now. There were 300,000 crossings in December alone. That's an all-time high and that is not sustainable," Stewart said. "But Republicans turned down the chance to pass a strong border bill supported by the Border Patrol Union because of how confident they are that fearmongering will be an effective election year strategy. It's all about branding."

In typical fashion, the Republican frontrunner, Donald Trump, has put the responsibility and blame onto President Joe Biden, saying, "We will call it from on 'Biden migrant crime.' It's 'bigrant crime' . . . That's smart, bigrant crime."

Stewart then joked, "I'm not completely sold on bigrant. It really just sounds like a migrant who's open to crossing either border." He continued, "Look there are some undocumented migrants who are committing crimes, some of them horrific. But isn't that true for every demographic? I feel pretty confident there's still a lot of opportunity out there for our American homegrown criminals."

However, this hot topic voter issue in American politics in a crucial election year has motivated both Biden and Trump to head to the border. "It was B***h-ass Cassidy versus the Sundown Kid. And Biden was fired up." Stewart said.

Over the weekend, Biden flew to Brownsville, Texas to campaign and addressed immigration and illegal border crossings. The President said, "We are the United States of America."

Stewart said, "Nailed it! He knew exactly where we are. Yes! He knew what country we were in. Bang, boom. This is the United States of America. I take back everything I said a month ago."

But in a bipartisan move, Biden publicly pled with Trump to come to a middle ground with him, "instead of telling members of Congress to block this legislation, join me or I'll join you in telling Congress to pass this bipartisan border security bill. We can do it together."

"Ladies and gentlemen, the olive branch has been extended across the aisle in a show of genuine desire to solve this complex and vexing issue. Trump, your response?" Stewart said.

Also in Texas, Trump, who repurposed his nickname for Hillary Clinton for Biden said, "Crooked Joe is the blood of countless innocent victims."

“Do you have to say everything that happens in your head out loud?” Stewart said with exasperation. “It’s been eight years. You f**king won! The woman’s been through enough, now you’re going to take away her nickname?”

Additionally, Stewart, a New Yorker himself, criticized NYC mayor, Eric Adams, who also shared similar sentiments with Democrats about welcoming migrants to the U.S. But then changed his tune and said that the city had “no more room” after two busloads of migrants arrived in the city from Texas.

“So this is the terrible cycle America is caught in: Democrats whose high-minded values and principles did not survive a contact high with reality, and Republicans whose desire to solve the problem isn’t nearly as strong as their desire to exploit it,” Stewart concluded. “And no one wins.”

So because of targets Letitia James fixated on Donald Trump as she campaigned for New York attorney general, branding the then-president a “con man” and ″carnival barker” and pledging to shine a “bright light into every dark corner of his real estate dealings.”

Five years later, James is on the verge of disrupting Trump’s real estate empire after a judge ruled Tuesday that he defrauded banks, insurers and others by exaggerating the value of assets on paperwork used for deals and securing loans.

The ruling shifts control of some of Trump’s companies to a court-appointed receiver, meaning he could lose control of prized properties like Trump Tower, a sprawling suburban estate, office buildings and more.

For James, a Democrat, it’s just the latest joust with a powerful foe.

Donald Trump must pay $354.9 million in penalties for fraudulently overstating his net worth to dupe lenders, a New York judge ruled on Friday, handing the former U.S. president another legal setback in a civil case that imperils his real estate empire. Justice Arthur Engoron, in a sharply worded decision issued after a contentious three-month trial in Manhattan, also banned Trump, who is running to regain the presidency this year, from serving as an officer or director of any New York corporation for three years. Trump's lawyer Alina Habba vowed to appeal. Engoron canceled his prior ruling from September ordering the "dissolution" of companies that control pillars of Trump's real estate empire, saying on Friday that this was no longer necessary because he is appointing an independent monitor and compliance director to oversee Trump's businesses. Trump and the other defendants in the case, Engoron wrote in the ruling, "are incapable of admitting the error of their ways." "Their complete lack of contrition and remorse borders on pathological," Engoron wrote. "Instead, they adopt a 'See no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil' posture that the evidence belies."

The lawsuit brought by New York Attorney General Letitia James accused Trump and his family businesses of overstating his net worth by as much $3.6 billion a year over a decade to fool bankers into giving him better loan terms. Trump, who faces criminal charges in four other cases, has called the lawsuit a political vendetta by James, a Democrat. In posts on his social media platform, Trump called Engoron "crooked," James "corrupt," and the case against him "ELECTION INTERFERENCE" and a "WITCH HUNT." "This 'decision' is a Complete and Total SHAM," Trump wrote. "We cannot let injustice stand." Engoron, who decided the case without a jury, also barred Trump and his companies named in the suit from applying for loans from any financial institution chartered in New York for three years, which could curtail his ability to obtain credit from major U.S. banks. The judge said Trump and his companies' past run-ins with the law were part of the reason for the stiff penalties. The Trump Organization was found guilty of criminal tax fraud in 2022. Two other entities Trump ran previously settled allegations of wrongdoing brought by New York state.

Trump's adult sons, Don Jr. and Eric, also were defendants in the case. The judge ordered them to pay $4 million apiece. Their lawyer Clifford Robert called the decision a "gross injustice" and said he believes it will be overturned on appeal. Former Trump Organization CFO Allen Weisselberg, who pleaded guilty to tax fraud in a separate criminal case, was ordered to pay $1 million and barred for life from managing any New York company's finances. James said the penalties paid by all defendants totaled more than $450 million, including interest. "Donald Trump is finally facing accountability for his lying, cheating and staggering fraud," James said in a statement. "Because no matter how big, rich or powerful you think you are, no one is above the law."

The People's Republic Of New York City
With a total population of over 8.3 million, the Big Apple is not only the largest sanctuary city in the nation but also one of its oldest. In August of 1989, then-Mayor Ed Koch (D) signed an executive order barring the disclosure of information about an individual’s immigration status unless required by law or if the subject “is suspected … of engaging in criminal activity.”

Koch also issued executive orders allowing illegal aliens to access city services, which were subsequently reissued by Mayor Michael Bloomberg (R) in 2003. The city’s pro-sanctuary stance has only hardened since Bill de Blasio (D) assumed office, including adopting policies of noncompliance with immigration warrants except in very limited circumstances.

NYC’s sanctuary policies led to such egregious crimes as the brutal rape and murder of 92-year-old Dominican immigrant Maria Fuertes by a Guyanese illegal alien in January 2020. The suspect had been in NYPD custody in November 2019 – after being charged with assaulting his own father and criminally possessing a weapon – but local authorities ignored an ICE detainer and set him free.

Kevin O’Leary says he will no longer invest in ‘loser’ New York after Trump verdict “Shark Tank” investor Kevin O’Leary ripped into what he called “loser” New York and vowed to no longer invest in the state, when asked about a New York court’s $355 million verdict against former President Trump last week.

Trump, his business and his top executives — including the former president’s sons — were dealt a major blow last Friday when Judge Arthur Engoron ordered him to pay more than $355 million for conspiring to alter his net worth to receive tax and insurance benefits. The order also blocks Trump from participating in New York business for three years.

“This award, I mean, just leaving the whole Trump thing out of it and seeing what occurred here … And I’m no different than any other investor, I’m shocked at this,” O’Leary said in an interview Monday with Fox Business. “I can’t even understand or fathom the decision at all. There’s no rationale for it.”

The award was part of New York Attorney General Letitia James’s (D) lawsuit against the former president, the Trump organization and his executives based on more than a decade of fraud and capped off a months-long civil fraud trial in the state.

O’Leary, the chairman of O’Leary Ventures, argued New York was “already a loser state,” citing policy, high taxes and uncompetitive regulation as primary reasons.

“It was already on the top of the list of being a loser state. I would never invest in New York now,” O’Leary said. “And I’m not the only person saying that.”

O’Leary claimed existing businesses and new ventures are going to different states such as Texas and Florida.

“So, they’ve got lots of work to do to find themselves getting out of this situation. This has all occurred post-pandemic … winner states versus loser states,” he said.

Fox Business anchor Neil Cavuto then asked O’Leary what he thinks about New York Gov. Kathy Hochul’s (D) attempted assurances to New York business owners, in which she told residents there was “nothing to worry about.”

“We’re very worried, every investor is worried because where is the victim? Who lost the money? This is some arbitrary decision a judge made,” O’Leary responded. “This policy … what does this say about the bar? About the legal bar in New York? Aren’t they going to question this judge? What is this?”

“I’m sorry her words fall on deaf ears to everybody,” he added. “There’s nothing she can say to justify this decision. And this has nothing to do with Trump, nothing to do with Trump. Forget about Trump, this is not a Trump situation, this is a New York problem.”

The Hill reached out to Hochul’s office for comment.

Trump celebrated O’Leary’s remarks on his social media platform Truth Social, writing, “Kevin O’Leary is so great, and tells it like it is. Businesses will flee NYC & State after the Corrupt Judge’s ruling!”

NY AG Latitia James Upset & Facing Jail Time After She Told Jon Stewart To Do This To Trump On TV.. - https://youtu.be/CwtKPf1elGM?si=6S_jxqHZjDTfenjA

she should be in jail for using her position for a personal vendetta , It's all on camera everything she has said over the years.

The Governor of New York publicly stated Other businesses need not worry that they will be prosecuted like Trump, because she said Trump is a special case. This clearly violates the Constitutional requirement for equal treatment under the law.

It’s kind of funny how they can get away with this and half of Americans think it’s totally legit. next time I go to buy a car I am going to offer half of sticker price. If they don’t take my offer , I will sue them for over inflated pricing the cars worth!

Remember when AOC stopped Amazon from opening a warehouse in her district. Wouldn't they love to have those jobs now?

The real question should be, why is the NY AG worried about the value of a property that's in Florida? The last time I checked, Florida was a separate state. She's been practicing real estate without a license. A felony in NY.

Latitia James is protecting her friends building in Manhattan from foreclosure, which is illegal.

Kathy Hochul is the 57th and first female Governor of New York State.

New York Attorney General Letitia James today released the following statement after Justice Arthur F. Engoron of New York State Supreme Court ruled in her favor in her office’s civil fraud case against Donald Trump, the other individual defendants, and the Trump Organization entities, ordering the defendants to pay more than $450 million in total, which represents $363.8 million in disgorgement and pre-judgment interest:

“Today, justice has been served. This is a tremendous victory for this state, this nation, and for everyone who believes that we all must play by the same rules — even former presidents.

“For years, Donald Trump engaged in massive fraud to falsely inflate his net worth and unjustly enrich himself, his family, and his organization. While he may have authored the ‘Art of the Deal,’ our case revealed that his business was based on the art of the steal.

“When powerful people cheat to get better loans, it comes at the expense of honest and hardworking people. Everyday Americans cannot lie to a bank to get a mortgage to buy a home, and if they did, our government would throw the book at them. There simply cannot be different rules for different people.

“Now, Donald Trump is finally facing accountability for his lying, cheating, and staggering fraud. Because no matter how big, rich, or powerful you think you are, no one is above the law.”

Letitia James says 'no one above law' after Trump ruling
Attorney General of New York Letitia James, who prosecuted Donald Trump in his civil fraud case, said 'justice has been served' after the $354m ruling. Trump has also been banned from doing business in New York for three years.

People's Republic Of Supreme Court Ethics And Years Of Astonishing Corruption - https://rumble.com/v4lavxx-peoples-republic-of-supreme-court-ethics-and-years-of-astonishing-corruptio.html

The Supreme Court of the United States has adopted a code of conduct to guide the conduct of the members of the court, following reports of undisclosed property deals and gifts. The code aims to avoid the appearance of impropriety in all activities and should not allow family, social, political financial or other relationships to influence official conduct or judgment. However, the code's enforcement is still unclear, and the court is still studying how it will be put into effect. The Brennan Center argues that the new rules are more loopholes than law and are designed to fail. The Justices will continue to rely on the Office of Legal Counsel for recurring ethics and financial disclosure issues, but there is no mention of how any violations will be enforced. John Oliver discusses the Supreme Court, the ethically questionable gifts some of the justices receive, and an offer for Clarence Thomas that could ruin John’s life.
