For the third consecutive day on Sunday, the United States directed its efforts against Iran-backed terrorists, destroying a Houthi missile that was deemed an “imminent threat” to Navy ships in the Red Sea.

In response, the extremist group pledged retaliation.

“Forces conducted a strike in self-defense against a Houthi anti-ship cruise missile prepared to launch against ships in the Red Sea,” US Central Command announced in an early morning tweet.

The strike at 4 a.m. was initiated by US forces after assessing that the missile, situated in a Houthi-controlled area of Yemen, posed a safety threat to nearby Navy and commercial ships, as reported by Central Command.

“This action will protect freedom of navigation and make international waters safer and more secure for U.S. Navy vessels and merchant vessels,” the statement said, as reported by the New York Post.
