The "Trump locked down the country" argument is so disingenuous. There is not a person who was alive in 2020 who truly believes that Trump did not want to open the country as soon as possible. He wanted to win the election and knew that lockdowns hurt his chances.

Every day the media accused Trump of wanting to open the country too soon. Every day he sparred with the press over lockdowns. There are thousands of clips of this.

Governors were willing to lock down. The media pushed lockdowns. Biden argued for lockdowns. Everyone was ok with locking down the country.

Fast forward to 2023. The media says they were against lockdowns. Biden claims he was against lockdowns. Fauci claims that he was against lockdowns. The governors who willingly locked down their states now claim that they were against lockdowns. They all now blame the only person who spoke out against lockdowns.

Anyone who claims that they would have openly ignored the advice of Fauci and the rest is just lying because none of them said a word about it in 2020.
