Stephen Townsel halted Chris Sarro to close out the third frame of the fight at BKFC 38.

This bout was signed four times before it actually got into the ring. Sarro pulled out the first two times for varying issues and the third time was due to a last-minute event rescheduling.

The old adage is not fourth time’s the charm but that was the case for this Townsel vs Sarro bout. Sarro could not get up to answer the ten count and was favoring his jaw during the final sequence of the fight.

When describing what he saw happen from his perspective inside the ring, Townsel stated, “I broke his jaw. That’s the gist of it. I mean, that’s the sport that we’re in. I caught him with a clean left. I was setting it up. I switched over to orthodox on him one time. Kind of confused him a little bit, switched back to southpaw, stepped to the side, caught him with that big left."

The respect for Sarro was evident from Townsel as he described Golden Gloves’ as a really good guy and a fighter.

Townsel is a right-handed southpaw who fights backward. He described it as the key to success by leading with his power hand and got into the calculated nature of that approach. ‘Tomahawk’ showcased that sharpened hatchet of a step in left hand which ultimately garnered him the victory.

Stephen Townsel initially cut his teeth with amateur mixed martial arts fights with Rise of a Warrior before transitioning to another combat sport. He is a BYB Extreme and BKFC vet with this being Townsel’s fifth bare-knuckle boxing bout overall. None of his bare-knuckle boxing bouts have gone the distance and Townsel maintained his one hundred percent inishing rate on April 21st. Now riding back-to-back victories, he is looking for a top-five ranked cruiserweight opponent next.

Townsel specifically mentioned current champion Lorenzo Hunt as well as the upcoming Houston Alexander vs Jeremy Smith bout at BKFC 43 and stated “I feel like that was my fight”.
