Processing Chickens | My Frist EVER Attempt | Informative Experience By Denbigh View Ranch Farm

Join me in my first attempt and experience ever in processing chickens. I am so thankful to Denbigh View Ranch Farms for teaching me how to process my chickens. I am forever grateful. They are extremely patient and so well informed. Processing my chickens was difficult as I have raised these birds myself. It was great to have experienced farmers take me through the process with as much love and respect for my chickens as I would have. Every backyard chicken owner should learn the correct way to cull, as sometimes it is needed. Unfortunately, if you are not well informed of the proper kill phase, you could really cause pain and an unpleasant death for your beloved chickens. Don't be afraid to try something new. One great benefit I gained from this whole experience was learning about how healthy my birds were. Most were super healthy, some had tumors and other issues, however when you take your birds to an arbitor you never know exactly the health of your birds. My first experience taking my roosters to an arbitor was the inspection of the birds came before the kill phase. In this video you can see, our inspection was after the "gutting". If knowing what you eat is improtant, then processing your own backyard chickens is vital.

This is not a "how to process chicken's" video. Please before you attempt to process your own chickens, for the first time, speak to an experienced farmer or attend a processing course. There is a correct way to cull and an incorrect way to cull. You want to make sure that the chicken feels as little as possible during the kill phase, and in no way was the death of these chickens taken lightly. My chickens are very much loved and are treated with respect even at the end of life. My birds are raised from chick to chicken and taking part in this phase of raising backyard chickens was to ensure they were treated with love and respect until the very end. No one will treat your animals better than the hand that raised them.
