On August 10, 2021, Andrew Cuomo gave America his two week notice. The former Governor of New York will leave office as a disgraced sexual harasser. But in doing so, he escapes the microscope of questions regarding the thousands of nursing home COVID deaths in 2020 during the height of the pandemic.

On this episode of Fair Questions, host Matt Bailey speaks with former Governor of Illinois Rod Blagojevich about what led to the startling downfall of a darling member of New York's Coumo dynasty. Everyone--his advisors, his constituents, even the Mainstream Media--fell away leaving the one-time standard-bearer for COVID response without anyone but himself.

Governor Blagojevich says that Cuomo has proven to be derelict in his duties. "What he did was he failed in his duty to the people of New York," Blagojevich exclusively tells BPR's Matt Bailey. "Because they elected him governor several times."

Blagojevich, who fought allegations of trying to sell then-President-Elect Barack Obama's senate seat by staying in office until removed by impeachment, sees Cuomo's abdication as telling. If you feel you truly are innocent, Blogojevich says, you stay and fight. "I think [Cuomo has] essentially admitted to what he did [by resigning.]"

Governor Cuomo will leave office on August 24th.

Also on this episode: Seattle radio host Ari Hoffman discusses the latest on Vaccine and Mask mandates across the country.
