Chrono Trigger (クロノ・トリガー Kurono Torigā?) is a role-playing video game developed by Square Co. It was released for the Super Nintendo console in Japan in March 1995, and an enhanced PlayStation version was released in November 1999. day later in the US.[17] Chrono Trigger has also been ported to i-mode mobile phones,[18] Virtual Console,[19] PlayStation Network,[20] iOS devices,[21] Android devices,[22] and Microsoft Windows.[23] The game was revolutionary for the time and demands a lot from the console, it is considered by many to be one of the best games ever made in gaming history.

The game was developed by a team that was dubbed The Dream Team: Hironobu Sakaguchi (Final Fantasy series producer), Yuji Horii (Dragon Quest game series director), Akira Toriyama (famous manga creator, such as Dragon Ball and Dr. Slump), producer Kazuhiko Aoki[24] and Nobuo Uematsu (Final Fantasy musician).[3][25] The whole team worked with the idea that this game would have to be revolutionary, involving multiple endings, a dramatic story, a good battle system and beautiful graphics.[26] In the game there are numerous references to events and names from mythologies, legends and history. Chrono Trigger's soundtrack is considered a masterpiece and yielded a triple CD in Japan, becoming one of the most successful video game soundtracks in history. This work was the debut of composer Yasunori Mitsuda,[25] who had the help of veteran Nobuo Uematsu, responsible for other classic Square games such as Final Fantasy and Secret of Mana.
