What is HailStones ?
Hailstones are small, hard, icy pellets that are formed in thunderstorms when strong updrafts of warm, moist air carry water droplets high into the atmosphere where they freeze into ice. The frozen droplets fall back down towards the ground, and as they are carried up and down by the storm's winds, they continue to collect additional layers of ice, growing in size.

Eventually, when the hailstones become too heavy for the updrafts to support, they fall to the ground. Hailstones can range in size from small, pea-sized pellets to large, softball-sized chunks, and they can be accompanied by strong winds, lightning, and heavy rain. Hailstorms can cause damage to crops, vehicles, and buildings, and can be dangerous to people caught outside during a storm.
