My First E&LS RR "Shippers Special" Passenger Train Chase.. FLASHBACK TO 2017! | Jason Asselin

(2017) This was supposed to be a secret, but it leaked out to local rail fans of the Escanaba & Lake Superior Railroad in Michigan's upper peninsula. It was named the "Shippers Special" and leading were two shiny orange powerhouses that looked freshly painted and polished, ready for this special voyage through upper Michigan. Led by ELS 400 (EMD GP38) built in 1970 and ELS 300 (RS12) Baldwin built in 1953. Behind were six cars of all different era's, someone said 1907 or earlier on a few.. Some were lettered "Soo Line" and also "Northern Pacific" along with an old freight car and parlor car too! On board was said to be a few railroad owners who wanted a private journey to Mass City, Michigan.
Now in 2022 we really hope to see another type excursion as they have had other the years. Maybe Mr Larkin will want to put the shell of that old Shark leading the way after giving a nice paint job before it goes to a museum. Just saying...
