1870 | The Nine-Mile Covered Road - Shed Road | Louisiana History
Judge John Watkins of Minden had the vision to build a covered road east of Shreveport to help farmers get their goods to markets along the Red River. By 1874, crews were constructing a nine-mile-long covered road that would become the first all-weather road in the South. This Louisiana History Minute tells the story of Bossier Parish’s original Shed Road.
