Stories That Inspire Us with Abbey Heagney - 03.16.23
Stories That Inspire Us welcomed to today’s podcast, Thursday, March 16, 2023, Abbey Heagney. Abbey is a Health & Mindset Coach and Owner of Wellness with Abbey. She coaches women who deserve to feel healthy and confident in their body while living the life they love! Her story did not start out that way.
Abbey, as she puts it, is a Reformed Self-Hater. Starting at the very impressionable age of 12, she had a very bad perception of her own wellness. Abbey used her connection with food as the enemy while using movement (exercise) as a further means of punishment. From early on, her inner mean girl was obsessed with haunting her in a way that she indeed became a self-hater.
During that time frame, Abbey was involved with gymnastics and it was one thing her coach had said to her in passing that really stuck with her “not to gain weight”. Abbey realized that the coach did not say that to be mean or cruel to herself or her teammates, however, it was Abbey who literally and figuratively looked for evidence on how this applied to her in the field of sports she loved.
As Abbey proceeded in life and met her future husband, it wasn’t until she became pregnant with her first child that becoming pregnant would mean that she would indeed gain weight. This was a whole new concept for Abbey.
The relationship between food, loving yourself enough to have compassion is lacking for many women and why gaining weight and being unhealthy is more than just a physical aspect. (I know this first hand as well through my own health journey!)
It’s certainly “hard” and Abbey learned how to find confidence in who she is and live her healthiest life without restrictions or guilt. She now works with women in her private coaching practice, to do just that - help them find their own unique confidence by creating simple and effective healthy habits that work for them, their lifestyle and their goals. There is no one-size fits all cookie cutter approach – she honors your individuality and believes so deeply that no matter where you are starting or what you’ve tried in the past, it’s possible to achieve any goal you set for yourself and that’s the key to your success!

Stories That Inspire Us / The Author Series with Kristina Lucia - 03.15.23
Stories That Inspire Us / The Author Series, welcomed to today’s podcast, Kristina Lucia. Kristina is an artist, creator, and author of Curiously Created Creations of Kristina Lucia. Her touching storybooks, the Bella Lucia Book Series, ignite the imaginations of children and their parents through her limited edition animals and also improves communication and deepen their relationships between parent and child.
Her humble beginnings in a small farm town (there was only one traffic light!) sparked her creativity at a young age and her adopted home of New York City keeps her inspired daily. She may have started out with humble beginnings but it wasn’t until several dramatic life events occurred that she realized she had to pivot and perhaps in a way that she did not anticipate.
After a layoff and injury, she realized that she had this amazing portfolio between her crocheting and story writing. Although the possibility of starting her own creative business was doubted by many naysayers, Kristina in no way doubted her ability to realize her dream!
From working on Wall Street during the day to dancing at night (I know, how does one go from Wall Street to dancing at night!) she always knew that her creativity was more like a puzzle; a map she had to follow even though that pay may have been unknown she knew where it would lead to! She freely stated that “my creativity saved me!”
Mind you, along the way and from further trauma she experienced, she ultimately new that through everything, she had to embrace the process and her recommendation for those who may be in the same place in their lives will know to follow that healing journey and to open your heart and soul!
Kristina currently has 3 Bella Lucia Book Series out and in total has another 12 in the works! Between her (2) blogs and working on the animation of her books, she wholeheartedly embraces her inner child and that is just amazing to see!
Kristina has a special gift for my listeners and viewers! Do you have a child who loves to color or perhaps YOU love to color!! Check out her free gift below:

Stories That Inspire Us / The Author Series with Sandra Cooze - 03.09.23
Stories That Inspire Us / The Author Series, welcomed to today’s podcast, Thursday, March 9, 2023, Sandra Cooze. Sandra is an Intuitive Mentor & Coach, Certified Traumatic Incident Reduction Facilitator, Reiki Master/Teacher, and Author of the Book: Journey to Your Self / How to Heal from Trauma Written by Someone Who Did. Her book takes the reader on a journey through the mysteries of trauma, and the effects it can have on body, mind, and spirit.
Her passion and dedication for trauma healing was born as a result of her own traumatic past. Molested as a child, bullied in school, sexually assaulted, and raped as a young adult, Sandra felt lost for many years until the unusual request of a friend set her on a path of true healing and transformation.
Yes; she has a passion and dedication; she personally went through it. She shared her story in a way that helps her reader unravel the concept of trauma; she lists helpful tools, leaves room for notes, and encourages her readers to work through the unique exercises she lists to support them on their healing journey.
No matter how you look at a healing journey, there is no easy way but her strategies and helpful tools help you to shift from anger to understanding and that is not easy (I can personally attest to that!)
We acknowledge the trauma, we hopefully at some point work through and resolve it to let it go; let it not control us anymore. There are peaks and valleys with releasing the trauma which also include forgiveness which brings me to the “Acknowledgement” paragraph at the end of Sandra’s book:
I am giving a shout out to all those individuals who let me down, bullied, threatened, manipulated, humiliated, and abused me. It is because of your violation of my body, mind, and spirit that I discovered a strength and resilience I never knew I had. You instilled a darkness within me that helped me discover my light. Let it be known far and wide: I chose to thrive not despite of what you did, but because of it. Sandra Cooze

Stories That Inspire Us / The Author Series with Daisy Paige - 03.05.23
Stories That Inspire Us / The Author Series welcomed to today’s podcast, Sunday, March 5, 2023, Daisy Paige. Not only has Daisy been a previous guest on my podcast, she quickly became a very dear friend who is very close to my heart! Today, this podcast was also broadcasted “live” through the Wisdom Audio App. You see, we acted in a “Daisy” fashion type of way as she is beyond excited to share that her 2nd book, Beyond Heaven’s Gates, is now available for purchase! You can order either the printed version of the book or you may pre-order the Kindle version which will be downloaded to your Kindle on March 15, 2023.
For those who do not know my friend Daisy, her name really suits her so well - I’ve said that before and it’s so true! Daisy was diagnosed with a terminal illness: MSA - Multi System Atrophy, a rare condition of the nervous system that causes gradual damage to nerve cells in the brain. Only 4 out of every 100,000 people in the USA are diagnosed with it. This affects balance, movement and the autonomic nervous system, which controls several basic functions, such as breathing, digestion and bladder control.
Daisy is the author of Unexpected Moments with the foreword written by Kirk Cameron (it was through a chance meeting that Kirk motivated her to write her book. She indeed was motivated and finally received his autograph - you just have to hear Daisy describe her encounter with him and of course the crush she had on him in her teen years!)
With each sale of her books, a certain percentage is donated to research for MSA.
To connect with Daisy and order her book, please check out her Amazon link other social media platforms:

Stories That Inspire Us / The Author Series with Maurice F. Martin - 03.02.23
Stories That Inspire Us / The Author Series, welcomed to today’s podcast, Thursday, March 2, 2023, Maurice F. Martin. Maurice is the Author of the Book: Your But is Too Big / 7 Principles That Empower You To Heal Past Hurts and Get Motivated To Find Your Purpose. His book hit #1 in (2) different categories: Christian Faith and Christian Counseling! He is also a sought after Speaker, Counselor, Spiritual Life Coach and Former Co-Host of the TV Show “Grace Factor Podcast”.
Maurice was facing those crossroads. This was at a time when he decided to write his second book which was written to help you heal your past wounds, discover who you really are, and live a peaceful purpose-driven life.
When Maurice meets with a new client, he asks them a very specific question: What is the name of the chapter in your life that you are in? This is very profound! This is “truly” a loaded question, He points out that we already have the answers within us.
As such, Maurice’s statement in his book on page 25 is so very poignant: “My job is to share my revelations, insights and perspectives. Your job is to do the work . . .” We are all a work in progress and this can be very hard. Part of that is our mindset about so many different aspects in our lives. Mindset can be a complicated thing; there are wounds and scars associated with our stories. We tend to pick apart the patterns and we look for the logic to normalize them. In other words, our story is a personal perception.
“It is important for us to grasp that ‘normal, ordinary’ moments can cause rare and painful wounds in our lives.” Maurice Martin
He certainly has been through his fair share of trauma. To connect with Maurice further, please check out his website and various social media platforms:

Stories That Inspire Us / The Author Series with Craig M. Porter Rollins - 03.01.23
Stories That Inspire Us / The Author Series, welcomed to today’s podcast, Wednesday, March 1, 2023, Craig M. Porter Rollins. Craig is a Partner Emeritus and “happily former” CEO in the field of Financial Securities. Craig has enjoyed serving in many capacities on professional and University Boards of Directors.
Craig is also the Author of the Book: Pablo The Plate Painter of Mazatlan, which was an NIEA Finalist, 2022 New England Book Festival Honorable Award Mention and won the 2022 Big Book Award and Paris Book Festival for Children’s Fiction!
My obvious first question was how do you go from being a CEO in the field of Financial Securities to being a first-time multinational award winning author? It’s all about “story-telling”. In his business and having written several articles, business books and communicating directions with his staff, he had a way to communicate his message through storytelling.
His book is based on true events as many years ago in Mazatlan and he met a very unique artist who painted captivating artwork on plates. Craig was fascinated by how an artist with such an imaginative talent and creative mind could create an amazing story through the painting on his plate.
Several years later, and “unofficially” retired from the financial/investment industry he decided to write this book. Craig brought us through the writing and editing process and how he found an artist to create the illustrations for his book.
Craig lives in Hawaii but still lectures and consults on various aspects of investing and business. He has turned his attention towards writing children’s books, aimed at building positive and productive stories that help children follow their dreams.
His hope is that when a little boy or girl picks up this book that they see “Pablo” within themselves and he has certainly accomplished that!
Craig is working on his next book entitled The Year I Scared Santa Away. This story is an autobiography. It is a non-fiction and heart warming story of the author’s childhood on the night before Christmas. I’m already captivated and can’t wait to read this book!
To connect with Craig further, please check out his website and various social media platforms:

Stories That Inspire Us / The Author Series with Krystal Casey - 02.28.23
Stories That Inspire Us / The Author Series, welcomed to today’s podcast, Tuesday, February 28, 2023, Krystal Casey. Krystal is a Speaker, Empowerment Coach and a co-author of the Book: Shattering The Stigma of Single Motherhood written by Dr. Jill Zambon along with Krystal and her other amazing co-authors!
Krystal shared that she is a woman with a history of trauma and motherhood unlocked a portal of pain she didn’t realize existed within. Years of traditional treatment proved unsuccessful, so she began searching for a natural alternative of healing, which led her to yoga.
Inspired by the positive changes she experienced, Krystal wanted to support women with similar struggles. So, in 2018 she opened a studio and spent the next few years learning to find balance both on and off the mat. It was a wonderfully chaotic and heady time, but overnight it all came crashing down.
Krystal was blindsided and within (6) weeks, she had lost her husband and the father of her children. She was beyond shattered but being now a single Mom with 5 children watching, she knew she couldn’t give up.
Krystal shared on a very personal level that “things” went back to normal but then it wasn’t. She candidly shared that she was struck down emotionally and asked for help and guidance. She checked herself into a facility where she remained for 11 days while her Mom took care of her children.
What strikes me is how raw and authentic Krystal’s story has evolved. Having a routine was proactive and essential for her emotional stability and well-being and additionally she shared how important it was and still is to support herself with self-care. Organic as it may be from day-to-day, it works and it certainly shows that it does!
It’s important to be heard and Krystal emphasizes that every woman's voice has the opportunity to do just that. It can be scary to do so but it’s important for to make a mind shift that helps her to break the cycles. It’s clear that she has a plan and ironically her glass ceiling continues to expand for there are many opportunities for growth yet to be discovered! What sticks out to me is her willingness to share that empowerment with others!

Stories That Inspire Us with Paige Allison - 02.25.23
Stories That Inspire Us welcomed to today’s podcast, Saturday, February 25, 2023, Paige Allison. Paige is the Breakup with Food Coach for people who want to permanently break their toxic relationship with food to build a connection with themselves, their body and food rooted in love, compassion and trust.
In order to “breakup” we need to understand the root cause of the weight we carry to establish and rebuild our beliefs. (The “weight” we carry is in our minds, thoughts, how we talk with ourselves, our belief systems, and as such how we feel about ourselves.) We know that there is an emotional attachment associated with food but how do we even begin to realize or work toward resolving those issues? As Paige mentioned, with “love, compassion and trust.”
During this process, it’s okay to ask yourself, what are my reasons as to my “why”? Am I using food as a coping mechanism for something, perhaps an emotional trauma that makes me behave the way I do?
Both Paige and I can attest to our behaviors and both of us, from experience can tell you that it’s hard! There is a sense of normalcy and a sense of safety structured around the judgment of ourselves. Paige reiterated that it is not our fault but we have the option to rewrite our story! We must however, choose our hard and choose it wisely!
Paige uses mindset / life coaching, as well as understanding who her client is as a person, including their work/home life, and how they are using food to cope which allows her to show them the patterns they have been taught, and how to break those a little at a time.
Using these same principles, Paige was able to finally understand why she was using food to cope with her life and she freely shares her experience in a way that honors her journey to inspire others!

Stories That Inspire Us / The Author Series with Tasha Wilson - 02.25.23
Stories That Inspire Us / The Author Series welcomed to today’s podcast, Saturday, February 25, 2023, Tasha Wilson. Tasha is an International Bestselling Author, Speaker, and Entrepreneur. Tasha has published four books and co-authored one anthology. As a sexual assault survivor, Tasha shares her evolutionary journey to inspire millennial women in breaking glass ceilings by transforming their pain into power and rediscover who they are beyond their trauma. [This is Tasha’s 2nd appearance on “Stories”. Her previous podcast was recorded on September 24, 2022.] Today’s broadcast was also simulcasted through the Wisdom Audio App.
Tasha continues to explore the power of fearlessness. It is a way for her to channel her emotions and empower others to know that they too can thrive in a way that honors their journey and gives their life meaning and purpose. In doing so, Tasha stressed that we need to reverse our language and allow ourselves or give that permission to do so. That does not come easy and it doesn’t happen overnight.
It’s a part of the journey to discover your own voice. Tasha’s assault occurred when she was 18 years old and realized at the age of 30 that she needed to discover who and what she is and that process was beyond hard. She questioned it; asked herself if it was worth the risk and discovered herself along the way.
She is raising the glass ceiling in ways she could not have anticipated and has defined what her success means to her!
Tasha is THE Messenger of Hope™. She remains fearless and fosters sisterhood centered around self-discovery, personal development, and freedom. I am honored to have that opportunity to interview this amazing young woman!!

Stories That Inspire Us with Rose Gonzales - 02.23.23
Stories That Inspire Us welcomed to today’s podcast, Thursday, February 23, 2023, Rose Gonzales. Rose is a Mom of 4, a Grandmother and an entrepreneur. She has built her business as one of the Top 3% of Coldwell Banker Worldwide while balancing life. She went back into real estate in 2018 while holding down a full-time job and pregnant with her 4th child.
The backdrop to Rose’s story started when she was rather young. From being bullied, beat up and always ridiculed, to meeting her future husband after a move from one school to another, she realized that there was always a lesson to be learned.
She became pregnant at the age of 14 and did not find out she was until after her move to the Philippines where she lived with her Dad and cousins. Finding out she was pregnant she was somewhat terrified but a calmness came over her as she realized she was ready and she would be an awesome Mom. [Her story on how she told her boyfriend was rather cute!]
Time moved quickly and she and her boyfriend broke up. They co-parented their daughter and really didn’t have any communication with one another for about 3 years. Until . . . and yes, the boyfriend she had known since she met him at age 12 eventually became her husband!
Life moves and life happens and as I always say there is a story behind the story. Rose’s is no different; life threw her many curve balls and life almost took her away. After giving birth to her son, she went through a horrific experience and almost died. Approximately 6 months later, her husband suffered a stroke and almost died. Another 6 months after that, her niece who was like a daughter to them, loses her life.
Rose practices what she preaches; even with all of the obstacles she and her husband, and her family suffered, they did not allow it to slow them down. She realized that her life meant so much more! She and her husband give back to their community and everyone in their lives, and as a result, they have been able to build a thriving business during a downturn in the economy
Her mantra is “You have one life to live, give it all you got”… and she lives by this mantra each and every day!

Stories That Inspire Us / The Author Series with Dr Jonathan Royle - 02.22.23
Stories That Inspire Us / The Author Series, welcomed to today’s podcast, Tuesday, February 22, 2023, Dr. Jonathan Royle. Dr. Royle (aka Alex Smith) is the Author of SHITNOSIS the Ultimate Self-Help Book helping readers to "Get Over the Shit in their Life" and to "Get their Shit together". Funny enough, on the cover of his book is The FUCK THAT - meaning:
F - Fully T - Therapy
U - Unconscious H - Honoring
C - Conditioning A - Absolute
K - Knowledge T - Transformation
He is also a Celebrity Hypnotherapist, Master NLP Hypnosis trainer and Presenter of the Mind Control Expose Documentary EXTREME DANGER EXTREME HYPNOSIS.
His story is multi-faceted, raw and very authentic. He was bullied as a child leading to a suicide attempt due to being "The odd one out" having been born on the Circus and making his stage debut at aged 3 as Britain's Youngest Paid Circus Clown.
This led to depression, alcohol, cigarettes and cocaine dependency. He eventually overcame all addictions of using Positive Mind Power Alone and is now on a quest to help others change their lives for the better.
And change their lives for the better; he certainly does just that! His book is of course a self-help interactive book. When we initially met to discuss his appearance on “The Author Series”, he did mention that his book is not for anyone who may be offended by the title or substance of how he chooses to use his words.
His words are meaningful and practical and he approaches his book as a powerful tool to become “unstuck”; as he refers to it as being “emotionally constipated”. His passion is to share what he has struggled with and how one can use the tools or suggestions to promote change within themselves.
As a podcast host, I am honored that I had the opportunity to interview this amazing man - through his adversity, through the “bat shit crazy” things he endured, his mission is simple yet highly defined through the power of positive affirmations! I encourage anyone who may be looking for their next book of self-help to read Shitnosis. You’ll laugh, cry and through it all be able to apply strategies that may change your life!

Dr. Ruth breaks down the stigma from a very personal and authentic perspective. As she wrote on this topic in her book, Permission Granted (along with other amazing co-authors), she shared that as a trained medical professional she had all the tools; she knows exactly what to do; yet after suffering the loss of her soul mate and husband, everyday life was beyond extremely hard (Dr. Ruth goes into great detail.)
Dr. Ruth also shared that for those suffering and want to reach out for assistance, there is a Suicide and Crisis Lifeline available 24 hours per day. You can text or dial 988, or to reach them online:

Stories That Inspire Us with Kristine Schroeder - 02.08.23
Stories That Inspire Us welcomed to today’s podcast, Wednesday, February 8, 2023, Kristine Schroeder. Kristine is a small business owner of a Virtual Assistant business, Schroeder Administrative Solutions. Before she began the journey of entrepreneurship, she had to overcome the demons of her past.
To say that was a learning journey is an understatement. She came to realize that it was not her fault for many of the things that she was burdened with as an impressionable 13-year old. It took her many years to have the confidence and NOT be a victim in order for her to succeed in life and business.
She was Daddy’s little girl and at the young age of 7 years old, her Dad passed away. Kristine was the oldest and at that time had a younger sister and her Mother was pregnant at the time her Dad passed away. About a week later, her Mom gave birth to a baby boy. Kristine has fond memories of her Mom - “she was an amazing Mother for a few years.”
Her Mother remarried and by this time, her Mom started drinking heavily with her new husband. For a young teen, there was a lot of emotional turmoil. (Kristine shared the emotional backdrop to her story at that time which was very raw and authentic. She described in great detail one evening when her Mom and Step-Father came home and unfortunately, her Step-Father passed away. They had been married for less than a year.)
Her Mother, now twice widowed, married a third time. The alcohol abuse continued, there was an emotional toll on Kristine that raised to the level of being a parent to her Mom and being the parent to her younger siblings.
Kristine learned the hard way what gaslighting was and how to spot it and defend herself against it. While she looks back on her early years, she has learned to have confidence and not put herself in that position of being a victim. She now continues to succeed in her life and business. That is “Truly” inspiring!!

Stories That Inspire Us / The Author Series with Stacey Webb - 01.31.23
Stories That Inspire Us / The Author Series, welcomed to today’s podcast, Tuesday, January 31, 2023, Stacey Webb. Stacey works as an Intuitive Trauma Release Mentor and Author. Prior to being an Intuitive Trauma Release Mentor, Stacey was a Detective within the Police Force for 16 years. (Stacey was previously a guest on the “Stories” podcast on September 20, 2022.)
Stacey’s book, ‘The Intuitive Detective’ details how listening to her intuition and following her guidance not only helped her on her own purpose but also helped and supported her own healing journey and nervous system empowerment.
Being intuitive is anything but typical. Think of your intuition as a vessel; you have to dive deeper and deeper. Some things you know, some things you can’t explain, however when you “listen” to your intuition, it is shaped through your life of layers, even relating back to your own healing journey.
In today’s discussion as we “dove” deeper through those emotions, especially in Stacey’s line of work as an intuitive detective, you have to focus on setting up your own support network and it’s important to remember that you are allowed to have that support system!
Today’s “live” broadcast was simulcasted through the Wisdom Audio App and we welcomed up to the “Wisdom” stage, Chris Berryman. [His profile on “Wisdom” states “Coalition Builder and Founder of Bringing Humanity Together. I am always eager to share first hand the story that inspired my powerful vision.” - and that Chris did! Thank you Chris!
At the end of each chapter of Stacey’s book, she incorporates a reflection of how she felt. Each one is very thought provoking! To sum up today’s discussion, I honor the words written by Stacey in her book found at the end of Chapter 16 entitled “Shots Fired” - this quote is found on Page 46.
Acting on your non-local intuition is a reminder that everything is energy. Stacey Webb

Stories That Inspire Us with Candice Bakx-Friesen - 01.27.23
Stories That Inspire Us welcomed to today’s podcast, Friday, January 27, 2023, Candice Bakx-Friesen. Candice is passionate about helping people reach their financial dreams. She is a highly motivated woman who has a passion for helping others succeed in life and business. She is a mother of 4, top performing realtor, entrepreneur, money coach, and speaker.
There is often an emotional attachment with finances and it’s at times deemed as a taboo type of subject. This is where it’s important to establish decision making factors. There are some questions you should ask yourself:
What is most important?
How much risk am I willing to take?
How much return are you potentially looking for?
Of course, there are many factors and root causes that come into play. It’s hard; it's’ a challenge yet setting boundaries and working together toward a budget is a plan that everyone should be taking. Yes; the word budget is not a pleasant word. As Candice emphasized, uncover the why.
Candice works with couples who at times don’t know how to work with one another when it comes to the topic of finances in general. Candice coaches her clients through many different factors and scenarios. Each situation is tailored to meet the couples’ collective needs.
Candice emphasized that you have to start somewhere; start today! Even if it’s setting aside $50 automatically to go into your savings account each week when you receive your paycheck, that’s a start! For some, it may be something as simple as literally going through your checkbook to see where you are spending your money. You might just be shocked where your money is going! Be honest with yourself and get to the root cause of each challenge - Candice could certainly assist you with that!
To say Candice is “busy” is an understatement. She has (2) books coming out this year and will keep us posted! To connect with Candice further, please check out her website and various social media platforms:

Stories That Inspire Us / The Author Series with William R. Douglas - 01.26.23
Stories That Inspire Us / The Author Series, welcomed to today’s podcast, Thursday, January 26, 2023, William R. Douglas. William is a first-time novelist and received the Readers Favorite 5-Star Award for his book: The Death and Resurrection of Baseball / Echoes From A Distant Past.
When I received William’s book, I initially wrote down the following words in my notes: “extinct game finds new light”. Right then and there, I had the feeling that this book written about baseball, was so much more than what you may think. As I read his book, those words appeared before me within his book. I instinctively knew this is THAT book that you cannot put down! (My copy of William’s book is loaded with “stickey” notes!)
William shared his feelings on the historical background and uniqueness of writing the Preface to his book. He wanted to create the basis and provide a way for his readers to connect with the book from the ground up; a foundation structure. He certainly accomplished that!
The culture and destruction and remnants of the past played a huge part in his book which is set in the year of 2166, a post Second Civil War America is finally back on its feet. It’s a feeling of optimism and being hopeful that family, faith and yes, baseball, bring everyone together. (Without giving too much away, William references thought provoking questions - (1) of which was “What parts of our national heritage and culture could become victims in such a nightmare?” William certainly takes us through that process.)
This is one of those books that you know will make it to the big screen! I asked William who he wanted to play the character of Grandpa Moses - his response: Sam Elliott or Kevin Costner. In response to whom William would want to play the part of his character, Joe Scott, he stated he would want a totally unknown actor to play this role.

Stories That Inspire Us / The Author Series with Amanda Karch - 01.24.23
Stories That Inspire Us / The Author Series welcomed to today’s podcast, Tuesday, January 24, 2023, Amanda Karch. Amanda is a published poet and avid writer, continuing to hone her entrepreneurial skills from college through her path as an author. (This is Amanda’s 2nd appearance on the “Stories” podcast. Her first appearance was on July 16, 2022.) It is her hope to spread the power of poetry and of female voices to the world.
Amanda shares her story with heart, soul and of course poetry. It was not always that way; her love and passion for poetry was always there; she was just scared to put it out in the world. She finally realized that she had to be comfortable with rejection.
Being comfortable with rejection is not an easy thing to go through. There are so many emotional ties with a writer’s story through poetry. Amanda’s driving force and message is that YOUR story, YOUR voice matters - especially for young women.
She shared with us her process of how she “free” writes through poetry prompts and emphasized to all that this is a really good start for those who want to write poetry but do not know where to start.
We chatted further about her Book: Her Favorite Color Was Sunshine Yellow and I read a few short passages she had written that really felt through different stories or times through my life. She is always touched when her poetry touches the hearts of many!
Amanda reiterated like many writers, she loves writing poetry as there is no fear of hiding her passion within! She has gained so much confidence and it certainly has helped her with public speaking.
At times, her inspiration comes from the “Poem of the Day” which she receives from poets.org (click the link below.) What a way to start your day off right!

Stories That Inspire Us with Keith Gittens-Jones - 01.14.23
Stories That Inspire Us welcomed to today’s podcast, Saturday, January 14, 2023, Keith Gittens-Jones. Keith is better known by his stage name Phantom Electric Ghost (“PEG”) or alter ego Josephine Electric. Keith is a dedicated electronic musician and producer, hailing from Concord, New Hampshire. PEG is a one-person band that has been his vehicle for expressing sounds and concepts that he references as Expansive Sound Experiments or Sound Paintings. Jones is a cancer survivor who overcame a level 3 Sarcoma in 1997.
After Keith overcame Cancer from a Level 3 Sarcoma in 1997, he started to seriously pursue his love for music, and he did that in more ways than one! He was always a behind the scenes type of producer and realized that there was so much more he wanted to enhance through the music industry.
In 2019, PEG released through his indie label Expansive Sound Experiments “The Flower That Blooms at Midnight in the Tomb” and synthwave and experimental album created almost entirely on the Teenage Engineering OP-Z multimedia synthesizer and sequencer.
PEG has collaborated with artists such as Chernobello.com (for the cover of the album II Infinitum in 2017) and ALT+CTRL+K (Kiri Margaros) on the same project.
His love, history and knowledge of music was deeply influenced by progressive rockers such as Emerson Lake and Palmer, Genesis, and YES; PEG is also rooted in New Romantic (New Wave), Jazz (Sun Ra), and Funk (Prince, Parliament Funkadelic, and Sly and Family Stone). This diverse mix of genres is what makes up Expansive Sound and what makes PEG a unique musical endeavor.
Unique is an understatement. Keith was able to demonstrate his talents and bring a dimension of life to PEG as well as Josephine Electric. In fact, at one point, Josephine Electric was attempting to steal away the spotlight!
From overcoming his brush with cancer, kicking fear to the curb to working with bands and producers literally from all over the world, Keith’s story is beyond inspiring!

Stories That Inspire Us / The Author Series with Dr. Cassandra LeClair - 01.04.23
Stories That Inspire Us / The Author Series, welcomed to today’s podcast, Wednesday, January 4, 2023, Dr. Cassandra LeClair (“Cassandra”.) (This podcast was also simulcasted through the Wisdom Audio App.) Cassandra is the Author of the Book: Being Whole / Healing from Trauma and Reclaiming My Voice. Cassandra is also a communication consultant and motivational speaker. She is an expert on communicating in relationships and improving connections. Cassandra helps individuals lead through intentional communication so that they can take aligned action and embody their personal power. Dr. LeClair’s mission is to educate individuals on how to understand their communication patterns to have effective and healthy communication to enhance their professional And personal relationships.
Cassandra did not start out wanting to write her book; it was a general progression. You see, when she was a child, she was sexually abused. Being at that young, tender age, throughout her life she was always trying to come to grips with her healing journey (even feeling the physiological sickness and pain through her diagnosis.)
At many times throughout her journey, and through journaling, she was trying to understand the pattern that took control of her life. Yes; she is an expert in communicating and has worked hard over the years earning her PhD. She is also a genuine, beautiful soul sharing her very vulnerable story.
Things are hard in life and in her book on page 47, she writes:
I own that piece of my story and I control my feelings about how it has shaped periods of my life. I did a lot of work to heal those pieces. The journey to finding myself after that diagnosis and through the sickness was the hardest thing I had done up to that point.
You are not alone: “Healing doesn’t have to be your personality.”
Healing is also a continual process and it’s okay to ask for help.

Stories That Inspire Us with Emily Cleghorn - 11.17.22
Stories That Inspire Us welcomed to today’s podcast, Thursday, November 17, 2022, Emily Cleghorn. Emily has a fire burning in her soul to make the world a better place and it’s not hard to see why. If someone would have told her that she would use her trauma that she was enduring in her childhood to inspire and lift others up, well she is doing just that!
Emily was raised by her paternal grandparents in a beautiful small town in Nova Scotia. She had a close relationship with her Dad but unfortunately, suffered horrendous heartache at the hands of her step-mother and brother which included being abused physically, emotionally as well as sexual abuse. (Emily shared very real and raw emotions about her abuse.)
Emily felt that she was a human punching bag and became determined that she was not going to become a statistic (something always kept her going, even through the anxiety, depression and toxic relationships.)
The catalyst for healing in her life started once she became a Mom. The hardship of infertility had taught her a lot about how her body was storing the trauma that she had yet to process. (Emily shared again very intimate details of the hardship she went through and how she felt ashamed.)
By the grace of God, Emily has experienced a beautiful metamorphosis.
She began a journey of self rediscovery, embracing love for herself and others and developing a deeper connection to her Creator.
Emily currently lives in New Brunswick with her husband and best friend, Brent and their two beautiful babies. Together they are breaking generational curses and creating a limitless life.
“Feel the feels and keep going!” Emily Cleghorn
Emily is doing just that and more!
