In this episode Joel and Antonia talk about developing the skill of conscious awareness.
IN THIS PODCAST YOU'LL FIND:
- When you increase your awareness of how things have changed over time, it’s not just about the object but the story of evolution, of how society and people have evolved.
- Green paint was believed to calm the nerves and help relieve stress. In a lot of houses, kitchens were painted green.
- Individual awareness is very interesting because it gives us so much more information to work with.
------------------------------------------------
There are two styles of awareness:
1) Awareness of being present – being fully in the moment and understanding what’s going on around you.
2) Awareness of understanding the systems surrounding you – the ecology of what’s happening in the environment around you – example the ants that’s coming inside your house that’s part of ecology. It’s being aware of how the systems are working in order to make a better place for everybody.
---------------------------------------------------
- We’re not aware of systems, we don’t understand their delicate nature and so we destroy them because we don’t understand how they work.
- Being present is being aware.
- We are at a place where we don’t need to have a sharpened awareness that some predator is going to attack us.
- As you develop in levels of your own maturity and personal evolution, your awareness territory expands. Because we are in the place where we don’t constantly fear predators, were not qualified for the 2nd style of awareness.
- Both styles are very important.
- By increasing your sense of awareness (understanding what is really going on around you) and at the same time increasing the territory of your awareness to start seeing the systems, you understand how such complex processes are going around you.
- One of the major epidemics most developed countries as facing is obesity. Awareness can be something that can impact the longevity of your health. It’s a skill we can learn.
EXERCISES WE RECOMMEND IN THIS PODCAST:
- Being present without judgement: Teach yourself to be fully present in the moment without judgment and see how long you can hold with that. Example – when you’re washing the dishes, just be with the water and sponge. Build the skill of noticing and do this 5-10 minutes a day.
- Observe the things and situations that you consider as nuisance: When you observe something that your auto-responder tells you is simply a nuisance. Use examples of things that annoy you to trigger a bigger picture.
- When inside a restaurant, take some time to identify and details of its surroundings. Close your eyes and try to remember the different details of the room and let somebody help you associate and remember those fine points.

The Graves Model (Spiral Dynamics) | PersonalityHacker.com

In this episode Joel and Antonia talk about the Graves Model of development created by Clare Graves.
IN THIS PODCAST YOU'LL FIND:
- Developed by Clare Graves, the Graves Model focuses on Self-Actualization.
- After studying Abraham Maslow’s hierarchy of needs, Clare asked himself, what does Self Actualization mean and happens when we self-actualize?
- He asked a group of people for over 50 years – ‘how would you define a healthy person? He noticed that their responses show a pattern. People were going on different stages of growth and development. He saw a model emerging that both worked on a micro and macro level.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
1) Beige – Survival Level: Everything is about me and my personal survival. Examples – birth to 4 years old, people who are homeless and have little sensitivity to other people, feral children.
2) Purple – Tribal Level: More about our survival as a tribe. Micro – this is where a toddler starts to identify survival as a family/group. Macro – Focused on a group. It’s important not to be kicked out of the tribe. Spiritual development can be observed (how gods impact us as humans, magical thinking).
3) Red – Warlord: 15,000 – 20,000 years ago. When one or two people stand out from the rest of the group, they begin to get a lot of attention and are regarded as leaders, they move up to level 3. Goes back about getting ‘me’ again. This is where the rebellious years come. Example – Teens get into fights for no reason. They assume that they know everything and everybody else is halfwit. People learn how to stand-up for themselves. They don’t really believe that they have any right.
4) Blue – Civilization: Started about 5,000 – 8,000 years ago. We learn to identify something bigger than us. When territory boundaries are created. Law and rule are made. If we all live under certain rules, we live in a better society. Civilizations create armies and better force. Because everything is in order, we’re seeing relationships between tribes that create institutions and civilizations. Example – World War II.
5) Orange – Achievement: Leaders begin to emerge. Developed 150 – 200 years ago. Leaders see resources as limitless, something they can manipulate and master. This is where you find a lot of capitalism. Example – anybody who’s going through any massive achievement. We learn that there’s no reason to limit our selves. Many people keep themselves from going to this level casting limitations on themselves. Science and technology is very important for individuals who are in this level.
6) Green – Ecology: 20-50 years ago. Starts to take in a much bigger territory. These are individuals who have met their goals. Example – Bill Gates. They have a more ecological perspective. They start to think in terms of community and how they can give back to the world. They’re more concerned about the impact on a holistic manner. They learn how to give back. The idea of tolerance is introduced. Individuals in this level find it very challenging to accomplish their mission because they’re busy listening to everyone’s perspectives.
7) Yellow – Thought Leader: A person who has realized that not every voices needs to give the exact same honour. They are able to communicate with individuals in different levels in order to get what they want in a faster and more productive way.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
- Every transition from one level to the next (on a macro level) has been bloody.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
2 reasons why we go to the next level:
1) When the problems we’re facing can’t be solved by our current level so we’re forced to go to the next level.
2) When they have fully explored their current level and are not sure what to do.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
- The more we go up the level, the more we see things get done on the planet, the less warfare we see in a global level.
- We as individuals have a lot to gain by going up these levels. Even though it causes trauma during transition, our consciousness open up and we see a bigger picture.
- Growth does lead to happiness. People are happier when they are growing.

In this podcast Joel and Antonia talk about Enneagram Personality Types.
IN THIS PODCAST YOU'LL FIND:
- This podcast episode talks about the Enneagram personality typology with Ms. Kelly Crowther, as a special guest.
- The Enneagram is deeper and more into the emotional realm, it’s a blueprint in the fundamental strategy. It can open the doors to getting yourself ready to transcend your personality or making relationships better.
- Ennea – means ‘nine’ in Greek. Gram – denotes its symbol – a circle with a three-pointed triangle. There are 9 personality types, each one is striving to be something different.
1) Striving for Perfection. Lower form – can be a perfectionists. Higher form – achieves serenity and balance.
2) Striving to have Emotional connections. Lower form – tends to give in order to get. Higher form – giving is very generous.
3) Striving to be Outstanding. Lower form – tend to be very much conscious of their image and how people are reflecting it back to them. Higher form – looking for achievement and more credentials in order to feel worthy to others in the world.
4) Striving to find a unique identity in the world. Lower form – they keep themselves separate. Higher form – they understand the human drama and they can be non-judgmental. They can generally accept at wherever you are in your personal space.
5) Striving to be detached or non-attached. Lower form – Antisocial. They hide away and very protective of their own energy because they feel that they want to keep it for themselves. Higher form – can be great objective reflections of the world, they can get to truth easily.
6) Looking for Security in the world. Lower form – Experiences paranoia in the world. Higher form – stepping into the role of leadership
7) Looking for Freedom and Excitement. Lower form – tends to stay away from their problems. High – experiences an expression of pure joy.
8) Looking for Power. Lower form – tends to abuse power. Higher form – executes the right amount and type of power to get the best results.
9) Looking for Peace. Lower form -they absorb and reflect back all of the other types and that can look like laziness. Higher form – can look at all sides and mediate different aspects.
- Each of these types can get a little bit corrupted as they continue to strive. It colors their behavior and that’s where it can start to become a strategy.
- The theory is that we’re all of the Enneagram types and there’s a part of each one in us.
- You need to analyze and look where it goes and where your tendency is on your flow state.
- Pema Chodron talks about Shenpa and it’s when you catch yourself in the act of getting hooked.
- What is the major advantage to seeking more information on the Enneagram? Most of us don’t operate on our higher levels.
- Our Enneagram type defines as to where we get hooked, what and why it’s triggering us.
- Knowing your Enneagram type will help you make a better version of yourself.
- Helpful for us to analyze and make better decisions.

In this episode Joel and Antonia delve deep into the world of Myers Briggs personality types and explore the deeper (and very useful) parts of the system no one is talking about.
IN THIS PODCAST YOU'LL FIND:
- Myers Briggs Personality Types – Fairly accessible to everyone and is widely used in universities and companies.
- Its wide accessibility is its weakness
- History of Myers Briggs Personality Types
- Started with the work of Carl Jung who was a contemporary of Sigmund Freud.
- He studied archetypes, patterns of how people behaved and what made them different from each other.
- Carl Jung discovered that our minds have mental process that are a primary way of interacting with the world.
- The archetypes were representations of different mental processes.
- The behaviour might manifest itself in many ways but it’s that mental process and the way you see reality that matters.
- 8 Cognitive functions – described the primary ways people learn and understand information and the primary ways people make decisions or evaluate that information.
- Isabel and Kathryn Briggs were students of Jung and they were working on a system.
- These are the mental processes of your mind. How the mind sees and engages with reality. They recognized that there’s one component missing – Judging and Perceiving.
- The point of knowing your 4 letter code is meant to tell yon which cognitive functions are your favourite and indicates preferences.First Letter – I or E (Introversion and Extroversion). - -
- Some say that there are more introverts than extraverts
- Extraverts – the outer world is the real world
- Introverts – the inner wold is the real world.”
- Introverts need alone time.
- We tend to believe that extraverts are always outgoing and introverts are always shy and quiet. However, there are introverts who are very friendly and there are extraverts that are reserved and discreet.
- Second Letter – S or N (Sensing and Intuition). This is how we understand reality.
- Sensors rely on verifiable information.
- Intuitives are comfortable making leaps of habit by ‘thinking what’s behind the curtain’. They are far more interested in speculation.
- Majority of the world are sensory.
- Third Letter – T or F (Thinking and Feeling).
- Thinking – how you’re making decisions based on a thinking criteria – pieces of information that be processed and accounted for.
- Feeling – how their decision will impact other people specifically.
- All thinkers feel and all feelers think
- Fourth Letter – J or P (Judging or Perception). Most people say judging are people who are well- organized.
- Judger – they want outer world organization in order to have inner world freedom.
- Perceivers – inner world organization in order to have outer world freedom. Perceivers like to be spontaneous.

Models Of Personality Development | PersonalityHacker.com

In this episode Joel and Antonia talk about healthy ways to approach personality development and personality typologies.
IN THIS PODCAST YOU'LL FIND:
- Personality Psychology is a field that is often abused
- Typologies are something that needs to be respected
- Personality hacker helps identify the unique qualities of people
- Every single person is unique but we share common characteristics
- There are limited ways in seeing reality and there are patterns to it
- A good typology system doesn’t presume to define the person in their entirety
- We use different types of typology systems and interweave them to understand a person better
- Personality typologies help us understand how different and unique our perspectives are as individuals.
- The horizontal and vertical models measure different things
- Horizontal model – assuming everyone is of the same level of development
- Vertical model – levels of development measured on an upward scale
- Understanding the difference between these two types help us explore more details of an individual’s personality
- One of the benefits of a solid horizontal model is that it gives you permission to be yourself and it has you giving permission for others to be themselves.
- Typologies should never be used as a weapon.
- Horizontal models are great for permission.
- Vertical models are great for achievement.
- Many of us are interested to measure our progress and growth and vertical models are fantastic for analyzing our path.
- We will discuss different models and typologies in upcoming episodes
- Myers Briggs – studies how your mind is learning new information and how it is using it to make decisions
- Enneagram – studies the strategies we use to deal with trauma
- Graves model – study of ourselves in a micro and macro level
- The more typology systems you use, the more you’re going to see different components of an individual’s personality.
- We all have different virtues and values. No two people are exactly the same
- If the typology system is not helping you understand yourself better, then it’s either it’s a bad typology system or you’re using it the wrong way.
- Our ability to be happy is based on our emotional intelligence.
- Don’t believe in anything too much.
- Even you’ve identified your personality type using these models and typologies, remember that it’s not the entire picture. It gives you permission to be the best person you can.

The Creative Class | PersonalityHacker.com
Take The FREE Personality Test: https://personalityhacker.com/genius-personality-test
In this episode Joel and Antonia discuss what it means to be part of the creative class.
Rise of the Creative Class by Richard Florida:
http://amzn.to/2djhqmn
IN THIS PODCAST YOU'LL FIND:
- Since so much of labor has been automated, there’s more and more need for knowledge workers and a creative class.
- We’re often far more creative as children, and it’s a challenge to reclaim that creativity as adults.
- Some personality types make better decisions if they just tap into their creative side.
- Creativity can lead to major personal growth.
- An artist is anyone who is creative, and a creative self can be reclaimed.
- “Shadow Artists” are those who desire to be creative, but don’t directly go for their dream. They get a job that is close to it. (i.e. An assistant to a film director, instead of being the director.)
- Permission is the biggest factor in living the artistic/creative life you desire.
- There are some stereotypes about artistic and creative types that can turn people off from pursuing their authentic desires.
- Being part of the creative class doesn’t have to look like the traditional artist.
- Creativity can’t necessarily be quantified and measured. There can be a lot of waste/excess, so it can look messy.
- Not everyone wants you to be creative. They don’t want you to reinvent the wheel, they want the bottom line. Support is important but not always available.
- When we don’t give ourselves permission to do things, it’s very difficult to give others permission.
- When someone breaks free and pursues creativity others may resent their sense of freedom.
- A creative class is rising, which means less and less people are resenting others creative freedom.
- Creatives tend to ask for forgiveness instead of permission.
- Don’t let others stop you if you get the wind knocked out of your sails.
- Creatives are more needed than ever – we’re moving into a creative culture.
- The creative class is also discovering new ways of doing business. They’re not just creating art – they’re creating new business models.
- Creativity will be needed to save entire industries.
- Creative ideas can be seen even in places like the prison system.
- Technology outpaces itself every eight months. We need a lot of creative minds to come up with solutions to keep up with technology.
- This creative culture is going to have to be more forgiving of failure.
- In creativity, failure is part of test/iterate, and gets you to your goal faster. It’s part of the process, as long as you’re increasing the quality of your failures.
- When reclaiming creativity, start with something you have sovereignty over. Where you can call the shots.
- Give yourself a lot of space and time for creativity. Playfulness is important. Get on a child’s level, crawl on the floor. Replicate the experiences of childhood.
- Act like you did when you were 7 years old.
- Practice not giving a damn.
- Put up reminders in your home to be expressive and free from social censure.
- Creative people are life-long learners. School/education may move into a subscription model as opposed to something you get through in college and then move on.
- Always have a book you’re reading.
- Community is vital to a creative class person. Find a community/tribe of like-minded individuals.

Transparent Honesty In Relationships And Business | PersonalityHacker.com
Take The FREE Personality Test: https://personalityhacker.com/genius-personality-test
In this episode Joel and Antonia talk about what it means to have transparent honesty in relationships and business.
IN THIS PODCAST YOU'LL FIND:
- Jack Welch hires based on integrity, which defines as ‘honesty’.
- Is transparency the same as honesty?
- Honesty is telling the truth, transparency is how much information you choose to disclose.
- Being honest depends upon a person knowing which question to ask, transparency is volunteered information.
- Is being fully transparent in all areas desirable? Is it an ethic?
- People like Julian Assange and Edward Snowden have altered how we see transparency and information.
- Some information shouldn’t be shared with all people, since not everyone is responsible with information.
- The gauge for what should be shared is whether or not sharing it increases the quality of life for the highest amount of people. It’s a cost/benefit analysis.
- Transparency isn’t necessary a good thing. It can be neutral, or even bad.
- It’s most helpful to see it as a tool.
- Transparency is also about timing. Devolving too much information too soon can be ineffectual.
- Sometimes people have a right to know information, meaning transparency shouldn’t be a question in those circumstances.
- It takes balls to be transparent.
- Being modest about how much transparency you’re comfortable with is important. It’s a muscle that can be built, and something that can be scaled up.
- Sometimes when we’re being ‘transparent’ we’re performing for others, and so we’re not being truly authentic and therefore not transparent.
- The more transparent we are, the less judgmental we are of others, since we’re forced to see our own inner lies.
- You can be transparent, radically honest and still kind.
- The more honest we are, the more we can identify our ‘You Are Here’ dot, or our accurate starting point.
- Putting your ‘best foot forward’ doesn’t mean you’re offending ethics. Transparency isn’t always the ethically superior choice.
- A part of transparency means owning your actions, acknowledging them from the past and owning behaviors in the now.
- Not everyone is going to be okay with radical honesty. It can feel icky at first.
- Transparency is one of the best ways to increase intimacy.
EXERCISES WE RECOMMEND IN THIS PODCAST:
- For the next week, when someone asks you “how are you doing today?” be honest about how you’re doing.
- Practice being transparent about your emotions in your most intimate relationships.

Finding Your Passion | PersonalityHacker.com
Take The FREE Personality Test: https://personalityhacker.com/genius-personality-test
In this episode Joel & Antonia answer a question from a listener about finding your passion.
IN THIS PODCAST YOU'LL FIND:
- Many people say that if you’re living your passion “you never work a day in your life.”
- We haven’t always had the luxury of asking what our passion is and finding a career which represents it. Technology has democratized the question and the answer.
- What is passion? Is it an emotion?
- What is worth it to me so that when I have sticking point and have to do things I don’t want to have to do it’s still important for me to pursue. The outcome of letting the dream die is unconscionable.
- There’s a big connection between one’s passion and the impact you want to create.
- Those who want to pursue creative careers tend to find their passion earlier in life and follow it young.
- Model: Passion, Purpose and Mission.
- Passion is anything that lights a fire under you. It keeps you focused on an end game. It’s unthinkable to stop.
- Purpose is helping define ‘why am I here’? Our minds wander to ‘how do I leave the camp better than when I got here’? It’s a focus on contribution.
- Mission is being a light-bearer, and people are following you as a leader.
- Super successful people aren’t just focused on their own personal success, but on the industry they’re in as a whole. “The rising tide raises all ships.”
- Model: Power, Achievement and Affiliation.
- These are motivators for knowing what means something to you.
- Power may be motivated by gaining greater responsibility over others, affiliation may be motivated by recognition and achievement is motivated by having accomplished something.
- What is your end game, is it wrapped up in power, achievement or affiliation?
- Sometimes it’s not a matter of finding your passion, it’s a matter of having permission to know your passion. Suddenly you’re responsible to your passion, and some may not feel ready for it or have permission to pursue it.
- Being fully authentic as a person is a vital component to following your passion.
- A better question than “what do you want to be when you grow up?” is “WHO do you want to be when you grow up?”
EXERCISES WE RECOMMEND IN THIS PODCAST:
1. What subject do you love so much that if you were in a restaurant and people at the next table over were talking about this subject you would interrupt their conversation in order to talk about it with them?
2. What problem or challenge have you solved that you will interrupt people in a restaurant to share the solution with them?
3. If you had a microphone in front of you and for 10 minutes the entire planet had to stop and listen to everything you said, what would you talk about?

The Mind Body Connection | PersonalityHacker.com
Take The FREE Personality Test: https://personalityhacker.com/genius-personality-test
In this episode Joel & Antonia invite their friend Chelsea to join the podcast to talk about the mind body connection.
IN THIS PODCAST YOU'LL FIND:
- Guest Chelsea O’Brien uses the mind/body connection to understand eating disorders.
- We have a tendency to see the body and mind as totally separate, i.e. the body is a vehicle for the mind or that they have totally different desires and needs.
- When you see them in relationship, the question becomes – what thoughts are driving the body’s behaviors.
- Is the brain always in control?
- The mind and body come together when the body experiences feelings.
- There are neurons in the stomach, meaning the body and mind have a much closer connection than we previous thought.
- We can make connections between emotions and behaviors that program our brain to react to triggers in predictable ways.
- “Neurons that fire together, wire together.”
- Social expectations and pressure can cause us to feel shame around these issues that keep our minds more detached from our bodies and exacerbate the issue.
- We can go on autopilot in our behaviors, so programming our mind (“GPS unit”) is important when dealing with addictions and disorders.
- An understanding of the ‘Triune Brain Theory’ is helpful. The lizard brain, the mammalian brain and the neo-cortex.
- We’re dealing with ‘ancient programming’.
- Our lizard brain has a want. If we ignore it, it will only get more insistent.
- The mammalian brain alternates between positive feelings of getting the need met, but shame when registering overconsumption.
- Our neo-cortex thinks it’s in control, but it isn’t when the lizard brain has a need.
- Being in touch with the body and fully experiencing sensations and feelings helps slow down reaction time and making more thoughtful decisions.
EXERCISES WE RECOMMEND IN THIS PODCAST:
- Notice/be aware when you have an urge to overindulge.
- Allow the urge to be there without reacting.
- Feel the urge completely until it plays out.
- Choose how to respond thoughtfully.

Making Scary Changes In Your Life | PersonalityHacker.com
Take The FREE Personality Test — Discover Your Myers-Briggs Type:
In this episode Joel and Antonia talk about making scary changes in your life when you are ready to “scale up” in personal development.
IN THIS PODCAST YOU'LL FIND:
- Talking about ‘scale up’ moments, which are scary even if we know it would be good for us.
- The character Neo in the move “The Matrix” is a great example of letting go of others expectations and scaling up by resting into his own sense of integrity.
- We face moments when we realize ‘what got us here won’t get us there’.
- Transitions aren’t just scary, they’re also painful.
- Based on ancient programming, a part of us fears that if we fail after the transition we’ll literally die.
- The scariest part isn’t the transition; it’s the initial decision of making big change.
- The transition is usually more frustration and painful. You have to pick up new skills and one learns things about themselves that may not be flattering.
- When we finish the process, we almost always look back and say “That wasn’t so bad.”
- A helpful model is the HAT model – Healing, Achievement and Transcendence.
- When we’re scaling up, we’re putting more pressure through the ‘pipe’ and more cracks are exposed. We mistake this new self-understanding with a belief that we’re broken and not ready for the next level.
- Going through the transition is what exposed the cracks in the first place, so it’s all a healthy part of the process.
Once you get to the next ‘vine’ you feel so accomplished.
- It’s easy to blame outside circumstances to mask the fear of scaling up, or to believe that no one will help you during the process.
- Alternatively, it’s healthier to see oneself as responsible for transitions and also find mentors and coaches to help during the process.
- It takes balls and determination and persistence to make big changes in life.
- Some have the problem of being in transition too much and have trouble sticking with just one thing, which can be its own challenge.
- Having the strength often comes by doing the thing you’re madly in love with doing.
- It’s important to really know what you want, and avoid ‘counterfeit’ desires.
- Some people end up in ‘satellite’ careers – something close to their heart’s desire, but one step removed.
- Surrounding yourself with people who are already where you want to go helps you get to your end game faster, and proves it can be done with ‘dying’.
- It’s also important not to mistake lateral change with vertical growth.
Being able to make big transitions is the first step toward playing a Bigger Game.
- Familiarity can keep one in bad, sometimes dangerous, situations.
All growth happens out of our comfort zone, so comfort isn’t always our friend.
EXERCISES WE RECOMMEND IN THIS PODCAST:
Spend time every day writing 3 pages of ‘stream of consciousness’ writing to mine your mind for what you truly want.

Finding Flow | PersonalityHacker.com
Take The FREE Personality Test: https://personalityhacker.com/genius-personality-test
Get The Personality Hacker Book: https://amzn.to/37JMJVf
In this podcast Antonia & Joel talk about "flow" and how it relates to your personality.
IN THIS PODCAST YOU'LL FIND:
- What makes an experience genuinely fulfilling is a state of consciousness called ‘flow’.
- Written by Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi, he uses 4 or 5 different criteria in which doing the activity gives you energy as opposed to taking energy away. In flow, the activity feels like we’re powered with a self-energizing battery.
- In order to discover what your flow is, ask yourself what is it that you love to do so much the only reason you stop is when you’re exhausted?
- Some people know how to access their flow instantly.
- There are different things that can put people in flow. Flow feels very kinesthetic.
- Each personality type has a predictable flow state.
- Knowing your flow state means knowing which mental process your brain favors above others.
- ENPs are difficult to get into flow. The exploration process has you seeing relationships that other people don’t.
- Some people only experience flow when they know they don’t have distractions.
- Knowing when and how you get into flow can explain a lot about your behavior and patterns.
EXERCISES WE RECOMMEND IN THIS PODCAST:
- Sit down and make a list of 3-5 things where you are in a flow state. This can figure out some of your best ideas. How do you get into those activities? How do you get there? What is something I love doing so much, the only reason I stop is when I’m exhausted? Look for the patterns and think how you can deliberately incorporate that into your life.

What The Thinker Thinks - The Prover Proves (Robert Anton Wilson) | PersonalityHacker.com
Take The FREE Personality Test: https://personalityhacker.com/genius-personality-test
In this episode Joel and Antonia talk about the idea that what your thinker thinks – your prover will prove. This idea comes from the book "Prometheus Rising" by Robert Anton Wilson: http://amzn.to/2duw4IB
IN THIS PODCAST YOU'LL FIND:
- The mind is divided into 2 parts: the Thinker and the Prover
- The Thinker’s job is to come up with a reality; this can be extremely complex
- The Prover’s job is simple – prove the Thinker’s reality (it’s a ‘dutiful servant’)
- Can I change my reality just by changing how I think?
- How useful is a belief?
- Everyone is on autopilot; by the time you get to a decision, you already made that decision 10 decisions ago
- We can show our biases simply by focusing on some information over others
- The best we can do is ‘pre-program the GPS’
- How responsible are you for your actions?
- How we decide to program our minds and whether or not we choose to outsource our beliefs will have major impact
- “The easiest way to be brainwashed is to be born.”
EXERCISES WE RECOMMEND IN THIS PODCAST:
Meditate on quarters (or any other coin) for a few days. Make it truly the center of your focus. Then spend an afternoon looking for quarters. Did you find any? More than usual? Did your Prover come through for you?

Drama Triangle vs Empowerment Dynamic | PersonalityHacker.com
Take The FREE Personality Test: https://personalityhacker.com/genius-personality-test
Joel and Antonia talk about getting out of life's drama and becoming empowered.
In this podcast Joel and Antonia talk about The Drama Triangle and how we as humans have a tendency to live in one of three roles. A better way to look at these roles is to use something called The Empowerment Dynamic.
IN THIS PODCAST YOU'LL FIND:
- The drama triangle is something that was written for transactional analysis in which everyone has to fall in a triangle – hero, victim, and villain.
- Villains – Feel safe by hurting others and pulling them down. For the most part, nobody sees themselves as the villain.
- Victim – Unable to stand up for self and avoids confrontation. When we don’t believe that we can do anything in a given situation.
- Hero – Feels good at the expense of others power to take care of themselves. The catalyst for somebody else’s ability to get through something.
- If you’re the victim, you’re helpless.
- We see this in family dynamics, movies, stories and basically everywhere.
- Nobody really needs to be saved, nobody is really the hero who’s going to save them and nobody is a villain that’s making all bad things happen.
- One of the best antidotes to the drama triangle is another model called empowerment dynamics. This restructures the roles into:
- Villain – Challenger
- Victim – Creator
- Hero – Coach.
- Having a model that serve as a guidance can be very helpful.
- The coach has the ability to create boundaries and has the ability to say no, emanating empowerment.
- At every level the drama triangle only produces one thing and that is drama.
- Creators seek coaches who can help them with their work.
EXERCISES WE RECOMMEND IN THIS PODCAST:
- Go through 5 of your closest relationships. Take each person’s name and write them in a piece of paper and figure out if you are in a drama triangle with these people. Are you placing yourself in the drama triangle at your own will or are these people putting you in the drama triangle. Observe some patterns emerge. Then, think about how you can empower your relationships.
- Once you’ve identified your role (victim, villain or hero) how can you empower your character? We want to hear from you. Leave your comments below.

How To Relate To Your Child's Different Personality | PersonalityHacker.com
Take The FREE Personality Test — Discover Your Myers-Briggs Type:
In this episode, Antonia and Joel talk about how to relate to children if they are a different personality type than you, in particular their learning style. Since there are different ways of seeing the world, we have a tendency to see the ‘other’ as broken or rebellious behavior in our children. What if they’re just responding to their natural wiring?
IN THIS PODCAST YOU'LL FIND:
- Question from reader Andrea, “So as an intuitive type I am very curious to learn more about what it’s like to experience the world as a sensor. What motivates sensing types? What makes them feel good and what stresses them out? How can an intuitive mom help nurture the sensors around her so that everyone can shine?”
- The difference between sensory and intuitive learning styles.
- The percentage breakdown of the two styles, and what the disparity may mean.
- An intuitive parent may have an advantage in that they already have sensors on their radar.
- We all have both abilities, but we do have a clear preference.
- We’re good at our preferences because we clock so many hours using them.
- Intuitives get good at speculation, Sensors get good at mastering the physical realm like with athletics or spotting details.
- Intuitives help innovate, while Sensors create and maintain standards.
- Sensor kids have needs like being aware of their physical comfort and safety.
- Intuitive kids will often not see the rules as applying to them, so they may not be ‘rebellious’ when disregarding rules. Be careful before diagnosing them as ‘broken’
- Get yourself and your kids tested.
THINGS WE REFERENCE IN THIS PODCAST:
- Follow this link to get your own learning style tested:

(Remember, if you test as either Memory or Sensation, you are a Sensor; if you test as Perspsectives or Exploration you are an Intuitive.)

Feedback That Makes You Squirm | PersonalityHacker.com
Take The FREE Personality Test — Discover Your Myers-Briggs Type:
In this episode Joel and Antonia talk about how to use the feedback from others and from within to target unhealthy behaviors and beliefs, even if that feedback makes you squirm.
IN THIS PODCAST YOU'LL FIND:
- Feedback is the willingness to accept information that the world gives us in order to respond and get the best results possible.
- Our resistance to receiving feedback we don’t like is often our ego being triggered.
- We see ourselves as better than we really are, and that’s a good thing. Confidence makes up for a multitude of sins.
- We rely on confidence so much that when the world gives us feedback to shake it, our ego can become distressed that we no longer have confidence to fall back upon.
- When we ignore feedback, we don’t give ourselves an opportunity to improve.
- When people are convinced they’re right, they especially ignore feedback.
- Listening to feedback doesn’t mean that you only listen to sources you deem credible or that you agree with.
- Giving feedback too much credence can also be dangerous. Individuals can be reflecting their subjective perspective, not necessarily ‘reality’.
- Feedback comes from both the ‘inner world’ and the ‘outer world’. We need a healthy balance of both.
- Introverts have a tendency to tune out feedback that doesn’t resonant with their inner world. This is great for dealing with nay-sayers, but not for changing course when needed.
- Extraverts, on the other hand, are more sensitive to outer world feedback but not to their internal feedback.
- “The best feedback is something that threatens a dearly held belief.”
- When our beliefs are challenged, we start to act like addicts for the belief(s).
- All growth happens in discomfort, so we have to be willing to accept uncomfortable feedback.
- Cognitive dissonance is when we experience stress because we are holding two opposing beliefs. We can avoid feedback because we don’t want to experience cognitive dissonance, but we need to be okay with feedback that may threaten a precious belief and remember “the way out is through.” There’s a part of you listening, anyway.
- Feedback will always challenge what you think, feel and where you stand.
EXERCISES WE RECOMMEND IN THIS PODCAST:
Make a list of between one and three pieces of feedback that make you feel the most uncomfortable (angry, frustrated, ashamed, sad, or makes you squirm). It will feel horrible, but your biggest growth is tied to that feedback. Even if you end up not agreeing with the feedback, exploring it is high leverage for self-understanding.

Smuggling Emotions | PersonalityHacker.com
Take The FREE Personality Test — Discover Your Myers-Briggs Type:
On this episode Joel and Antonia talk about emotions... how we express them and often smuggle them when they are unpleasant.
IN THIS PODCAST YOU'LL FIND:
- This podcast episode will talk about smuggling emotions.
- Donkey Smuggling – When we are using a situation to experience an emotion that’s wanting to get out but were not comfortable with the emotion, we tend to use another situation that’s totally disproportionate or unrelated to it.
- Smuggling is an unhealthy way to express emotions.
- Oftentimes it can be easier to see other people smuggling emotions than ourselves.
- The easiest way to identify an emotional smuggle is if your emotional response is totally disproportionate to the situation.
- As humans, if we are exposed to an emotion that we feel we can’t express, we often channel it to a preferred emotion we feel that we can express.
- Enneagram – Is a system indicating that we have a tendency to favor one of three gross emotions – anger, shame and fear.
- Fear – Experiences a lot of anxiety and are stressed out when they feel threatened
- Anger – Usually the ones who get and jump to some form of anger
- Shame – Generally reflected back on to the individual.
- One of the biggest traps of being in Personal Development is thinking out of certain phases where you’re not in permission to feel just like other people who are not as developed.
- You can see a push and pull relationship with people in Personal Development. Giving yourself permission to be on your lower self is part of the journey.
- There’s a distinction between understanding, embodying and holding space for your emotion vs smuggling.
- The reason why smuggling is not a preferred method is because of its unconscious nature.
- Emotions have to be dealt with and processed.
Loop – When we are in a very emotional state, we can get to a point that we’re very uncomfortable with the intensity of the situation. We feel like we had enough but we can’t handle it anymore. So we stop at a certain level, leading us stuck and not being able to get rid of the emotion.
- Process through the emotion and let it happen.
- On a neurological level, the emotion cannot last 8 minutes. Fully experience it all the way.
- By going thought the entire experience, you’re less likely to smuggle later. It’s a skill that has to be built and developed. Eventually, you are going to express emotions in a healthy and productive way.
- Start out by only observing your own smuggles. Keep it to just you calling out your own.

Male Feelers & Female Thinkers | PersonalityHacker.com
Take The FREE Personality Test — Discover Your Myers-Briggs Type:
Joel and Antonia talk about the unique lives male feelers and female thinkers lead.
According to the MBTI (Myers-Briggs) personality system, Joel is a feeler male and Antonia is a thinker female. In this podcast they talk about what it’s like to be a personality type that goes against the grain of popular culture.
IN THIS PODCAST YOU'LL FIND:
- This podcast episode will talk about Male – Female dynamics and personality types, focusing Feeler Males and Thinker Females.
- Even if a man and woman are the same personality, regardless of the typology system used, there will be differences.
- Thinker VS Feeler
- Thinker – is someone who basically makes decision based in metrics and criteria takin into account. Does it make sense analytically? Will it work?
- Feeler – makes decisions based on how it will impact other people. How are people going to be impacted? How is it going to impact the family?
- All thinkers feel and all feelers think.
- It is assumed that women will be feelers and men thinkers
- 75% of females are feelers. They have a higher emotional intelligence.
- There are people that don’t necessarily fit on the cultural definition of masculinity and femininity. Separate yourself from your personality type from femininity and masculinity. Being able to do this means that you can fully embrace your authentic nature.
- Your femininity is not defined by making decisions.
- In today’s generation, we’re starting to see couples go together to the next stage of their lives.
- Men have a lot of support of how masculinity is defined, as someone who’s taking care of his children and many more.
EXERCISES WE RECOMMEND IN THIS PODCAST:
- Are you a feeler male or a thinker female? What has been your experience as non-stereotype? Where have you not fit into whatever cultural type you live in and what has been your experience? What are the tools you’re using to accept your authentic self? We want to hear from you. Leave your comments below.

IN THIS PODCAST YOU'LL FIND:
- This podcast episode will talk about personal intelligence. Kinesthetic intelligence – natural dexterity.
- Analytic intelligence – Our culture’s ultimate definition of intelligence.
- Emotional intelligence (EQ) – A book written by Daniel Goldman.
- People with Emotional Intelligence understand and control their emotions and have them work for you.
- There are different types of intelligence and we have a tendency to have a preference from one of the other.
- Personal intelligence – the power of personality and how it shapes our lives by John D. Mayer.
- As per John D. Mayer, “Personal Intelligence is the capacity to identify and reason about information about personality. We use this ability to recognize information about people from their appearance, possessions and behaviors and use that to label our impressions of a person and to match that impression to our knowledge of similar people. From such clues, we deduce how to behave with the person and how that person will treat us in return and we look for clues about our own selves to better understand our needs and map out our previous plans”.
- Pattern recognizing – gives us the ability to see similarities between people’s behavior and attitudes.
- Personal typing VS Stereotyping. Personal typing is well researched with different structured systems.
- Introspective – ability to enter your mind and understand who you are as a human being
- Intraspective – ability to understand other people’s dynamics (social intelligence)
- Most personal psychology tools are very useful on their base fundamentals but most of them can expounded indefinitely.
- A simple hobby or curiosity will help increase personal intelligence.

IN THIS PODCAST YOU'LL FIND:
- This podcast will discuss the difference between pain and suffering. Pain is inevitable and suffering is optional. You can stay with it or continue experiencing it.
- The base root of pain is physical warning that there’s something damaging. Pleasure is a reward mechanism for doing something that the body believe is healthy
- Pain is not always a bad thing. We experience something we assume is bad for our body.
- The difference between pain and suffering is the narrative behind it.
- When you over attach to your ego, it becomes righteously indignant.
- The only thing you can do is to be the absolute version of yourself.
- You want to spend the majority of your time with people who has the same value as yours. But it’s near impossible for you to prevent meeting people who choose to suffer every day.

In this episode Joel and Antonia talk about creating a family mantra for the year.
IN THIS PODCAST YOU'LL FIND:
- The purpose of this podcast is to broadcast and share information on how you can use your own mind building skills/talents which will make you a happy person and be the best version of you.
- Part of these podcast is to make sure we’re engaged with our audience.
Three primary areas we deal with:
- You – As the largest leverage in your life, we help transform you into a happier and better version of yourself.
- You and your relationships. Your relationship with your family and friends and personality of the one’s you’re close with.
- Business – What is the direction you’re going and who are you going to work with?
- We came up with a family mantra and we’re calling it with the year of abundant self-reliance. We retrospectively determined how our previous years were. We watched ourselves grow and it primed us to be a lot more aware.
Concept of yearlong mantra – This can be for your personal life, business, community, whatever, you can create a mantra for the year. Ask yourself, do I feel like I’ve accomplished self-reliance?
- Self-Reliance
- Relying on systems rather than people. Going to create enough systems this year so it will all be smooth and free flowing. Self-reliance require discomfort – it’s also releasing that an uncomfortable experience is not a bad experience.
- Don’t feel locked in when choosing your mantra and feel free to define it to what make sense to you, make sure you understand what it means to you. If there’s no specificity, it will be challenging for you to achieve it.
EXERCISES WE RECOMMEND IN THIS PODCAST:
- Tell us what your annual mantra is for the coming year. Ask yourself, what has been my theme for the last three years and think about what is it you’d like for this year to be? What are the big goals?
