Cause Jesus to Rejoice
"Most of all, beware of arguments, and forgive one another when someone offends you. Remember that when you get into fights, you please the devil, but when you reconcile, you cause Jesus to rejoice. Those who are peacemakers are doing the work of Christ, and will be received in the Kingdom of Heaven as children of God."

The Good Part
Now it happened as they went that He entered a certain village; and a certain woman named Martha welcomed Him into her house. And she had a sister called Mary, who also sat at Jesus’ feet and heard His word. But Martha was distracted with much serving, and she approached Him and said, “Lord, do You not care that my sister has left me to serve alone? Therefore tell her to help me.”
And Jesus answered and said to her, “Martha, Martha, you are worried and troubled about many things. But one thing is needed, and Mary has chosen that good part, which will not be taken away from her.”

Librated
I was set free from the care center while the Church commemorates Moses, that great liberator, and delivered back to the island monastery over the waters. Now my recovery continues in my community of monks, and I ask for your prayers.

Orthodoxy is Our Life
When we Orthodox Christians greet each other at the Divine Liturgy, and the other services of the Church, it is critical that we remember that we are family. We must lift each other up in prayer. We must love one another. We must give thanks that we are part of the Body of Christ. To do anything else is to betray our faith. Orthodoxy is not just simply a club we belong to; Orthodoxy is our life, and if we don't treat it as such, we are failing in our faith, and we are failing our brothers and sisters.

Living Forgiving
Our God Who loves us, and is long-suffering, and forgives us our sins against Him, is something that we want to share as Christians with others. Yet, often times we don't realize that the best and most simple way of sharing the message is by channeling God's love and mercy to others by how we respond to the way they treat us negatively. If we have friends, or relatives, or coworkers that treat us poorly, we must demonstrate God's love by being quick to forgive, and loving them. That is the message of the Gospel.

Easily Enlightened
“The holy fathers knew very well what they meant by saying that the eyes of our soul can be opened. That is why we should read both the patristic texts and the Scriptures. Do you think that you don’t have time to do it? Try and read even for a few minutes every day. The purification and enlightenment you will gain by reading the Holy Scriptures will remain with you day and night.”

Soul Vitamins
“We do not need great knowledge to be devout. If we concentrate and ponder on the few things we know, our heart will be spiritually embroidered. One may be profoundly affected by a single hymn, while another may feel nothing, even though he may know all the hymns by heart, as he has not entered into the spiritual reality. So, read the Fathers, even one or two lines a day. They are very strengthening vitamins for the soul."

The Medicine for Everything
"Here is a medicine to relieve grief and every bad circumstance and every pain. What is it? To pray and to give thanks in everything. He does not wish that a prayer be merely a petition but a thanksgiving for what we have received… How can one make petitions for the future without a thankful acknowledgment of past things? ... So one ought to give thanks for everything, even what seems grievous. That is the mark of one who is truly thankful. Grief comes out of the circumstances with their demands. Thanksgiving comes from a soul that has true insight and a strong affection for God."

How You Carry Your Cross
"Everyone has a cross to carry. Why? Since the leader of our faith endured the cross, we will also endure it. On the one hand, the cross is sweet and light, but, on the other, the cross can also be bitter and heavy. It depends on our will. If you bear Christ's cross with love then it will be very light; like a sponge or cork. But if you have a negative attitude, it becomes heavy; too heavy to lift."

Turn to Christ
"I don't think about death. Whatever the Lord desires. I want to think about Christ. And you, too, open your arms and throw yourselves into Christ's embrace. Then He lives within you, and you constantly think that you don't love Him very much, and you want even more to come close to Him, and be with Him. Show disdain for passions, and don't concern yourselves with the devil. Turn to Christ. For all this to happen it is necessary for grace to come: The divine grace which ever makes good what is weak, and supplies what ls lacking."

Mind Your Mouth
"Be careful with your mouth, but primarily with your mind; do not let evil thoughts start talking to you. Do not let your mouth say words that could perhaps wound your brother. Let your mouth put forth words which are fragrant: words of consolation, courage and hope. It is a person's mouth that reveals his interior inner man."

Pride Crucified
“The word “cross” means sufferings, sorrows and adversities. To “take up one’s cross” means to accept without complaint everything unpleasant, painful, sad, difficult and oppressive that may happen to us in life. In other words, to bear all laughter, scorn, weariness, sorrow and annoyance from others; to bear all poverty, misfortune, illness, without regarding yourself as offended. And if, when you are bearing your cross according to the will of God, a proud thought suggests to you that you are not weak like others, but that you are firm, pious and better, root out such thoughts as far as you can for they ruin all your virtues.“

Love and Fear
“The fear of God is when you love Him, when you truly love Him with all your heart and you strive never to offend or sadden Him—not only with your deeds, actions, and words, but also with your thoughts. You try to please Him in everything you do or say. That is the fear of God—the fear of doing anything that might sadden or offend our Parent.”

Imperishable Prayer
“Prayer offered to God in truth is imperishable. Now and then we may forget what we have prayed about, but God preserves our prayer forever. On the Day of Judgment, all the good that we have done during our lives will stand at our side, to our glory. And vice versa: the bad, if unrepented, will condemn and cast us into outer darkness. Repentance can obliterate the effects of sin. By Divine power life may be restored in all its plenitude – not, however, by unilateral intervention on God’s part, but always and only in accord with us. God does nothing with man without man’s cooperation.”

The Answer To Anxiety
"The answer to our anxiety is not drugs, alcohol, tranquilizers or psychiatric treatment. It will not be cured by Yoga or some new age or eastern meditation practice. The problem is that we have lost God as the center of our lives. Once we make our love of God the primary focus of our lives and allow His grace to work though us, then no matter what circumstance we encounter in life we will be comforted and embraced in His love. All anxiety disappears. This is the aim of the Orthodox way of life – To put God first and seek the Holy Spirit. The anxieties of modern life are only symptoms of our separation from God."

Christian Courtesy
“A Christian must be courteous to all. His words and deeds should breathe with the grace of the Holy Spirit, which abides in his soul, so that in this way he might glorify the name of God. He who regulates all of his speech also regulates all of his actions. He who keeps watch over the words he is about to say also keeps watch over the deeds he intends to do, and he never goes out of the bounds of good and benevolent conduct. The graceful speech of a Christian is characterized by delicateness and politeness. This fact, born of love, produces peace and joy.”
